"Have a good one" is totally common in the US, not just UK.
In the US we say "ten-foot pole" rather than "barge pole".

Love watching your videos here mate! I've used slang words like "Have a good one" and even Cheers which means Thanks so many times out and about either at my job & other situations.

That's a quint essential expression in British. Cheers, mate😀!
My pleasure!
My Gen Z Ukrainian lass living with us LOVES "Cheers, mate!" and uses it all the time, especially as she knows I hate it! (Hey, I'm a Boomer. What more can I say?!)
Congratulations Tom! I'm so happy for you and Shana :) I hope you two have a wonderful life with lots of joy, adventure and health 🙏 In Turkish we say '' Allah tamamına erdirsin.'' ( May you have a long-lasting marriage) Greetings from Turkey👋 Çağlar.

In Portuguese, we have the word "oi" that means "hello! ". I have always wondered if they are related somehow
Ohhh maybe? Do you think Portuguese sailors brought it over or something?
@@EatSleepDreamEnglish I actually never thought about this particular explanation. It's possible, since it's only used by the working class, right?
Used quite a lot here in Brazil as well.
@@TioDeive I'm Brazilian
Congrats!
Thank you so much!
The #17 is quite the same as in Brazil. "Qualquer lugar por aqui tá bom (pra mim)"
Love it!
We also say that in Portugal.
@@loboclaudGreat to know! I didn't speak on behalf of Portugal for not being sure of it. We also use variants: pode parar (por) aqui, aqui tá bom
CONGRATSSSSS TOM AND SHANA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awwww thank you Gabriela : ) We are floating on cloud 9 right now : )

Congrats for your engagement! As a curiosity, "Oi" means "Hi" in Portuguese. Very, very popular in Brazil 😄

Hey TOM I am visiting your channel after a very long time. I hope you are doing alright mate. I wish you stay happy and healthy always. Can you make a video on - How to stay fluent even if you are not speaking or practicing English everyday , like you go for a vacation and you are using your mother tongue ( not English) then you get back but still stay fluent
oh I have one tip and it works in my case. I try to wake up early around 5 having a chat with my dad in my mother tongue. At work I try to catch up with my coworkers anytime I can, gossip about stuff in life etc. Go visit my old friends sometimes. After a month I become super fluent...in my native language. You can do that too!
Anywhere here is fine is used in many countries
Is Downton Abbey really hauted?😮

Dogs barking 😂
That's really annoying, I remember when I was sleeping so good one night and those bastards start barking like crazy... At 3 am in the morning 😂

These are very difficult and unusual expressions for me

I don't really want to spoil anybody fun but.. Who really want to sound very British?. Being myself a Spanish person when I speak English I sound like a person not being Brithish born or being brought up there.. But when I speak I don't really have any problem getting my message across... Better than sounding "very British" you should try to sound "understandable".. 🎉🎉🎉
You do you, mate
To be understood by other people is definitely a goal. But some people want to have a very good pronunciation and they thoroughly learn it. In this case they will choose which exactly accent they would like to speak with - American or British as they are rather different. That's the point.
Most people don't care about it. That's ok too.
@@maya.7057 I really understand your point of view. Thanks so much for your input and Greetings from Spain ☀️
@@josebenito15 Thank you! :) I try to learn Spanish from time to time :). It' s not a piece of cake either I would say haha!

Sorry mate, but I'm following you to have a better English accent, I don't really care about the hindi... 😂
Your message is very importrant :) but Tom does not make us learn hindi. He told us about his engagement in English which is very important :)
You seem to be a very polite person haha
By the way - not "the hindi". The names of languages go without an article.
I'm happy to know that 🧵♥
Thank you so much!
Congrats!
Much appreciated!
