- A common trait among successful entrepreneurs is their good fortune in having started early. Few, however, kicked off as five year olds - the age at which Nthabiseng Sejake began helping in her mother’s spaza shop and tavern. Sejake honed used skills acquired as a pre-teen to develop B Evolusion, a fast-growing ‘backroom’ renting business in Soweto. She was identified by informal economy guru GG Alcock as epitomising this much misunderstood R20bn area which succeeds despite being starved of capital by SA’s formal banking sector. In this interview with Alec Hogg of BizNews, the budding property mogul shares her story - and dreams - and how, in four years, she has built a portfolio with dozens of quality apartments on three sites in Soweto. An inspirational story of a woman for whom the sky is surely the limit once scales lift from the collective eyes of SA’s financial institutions.
Definitely saving this as one of my important videos.
Kasinomics, one inspiring book I ever read. It shows he understands the value proposition in the township setting.
I've been wanting to buy this book forever and ever! I just never get around to it. Now you've given me the push to just go get it.
I’m glad this issue with bank finance is getting airtime. Banks in SA will finance liabilities but not assets, it’s been bizarre experiencing this issue as a young black business person.
Great interview. Great subject. So relevant and important but also so neglected and misunderstood.
This video is for us, but it also exposes how the capitalist mindset should be cultivated in the townships. We should be the captains of industry in markets that were developed by us
Well done girl for this information
We are really facing serious frustration about funding and doing far better than investors in suburbs
This is golden info. Thanks to the host and guests.
priceless insights. Please keep up with the interviews.Inspiring future leaders

Great moves... ❤❤❤.
Love this 👌
Gg Alcock is an epic capitalist 🤝👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Wow, this very informative. I'm willing to use this business model in Lesotho. Damn!!!! Thank you very much.
Great interview.
Wow...what an inspiration. 👊
Did you buy the property in your personal name or Property Trust,I have been in real estate for about a10 years now as an agent(Property consultant) and some knowledge in the field.
I want to start with flipping at the moment
That GG for you , ❤
How can i get hold of Nthabiseng kindly share her social media pages
R140k less bonds, less services et cetera would obviously leave a huge amount spare per month. Paying off bonds with excess will be a quick turnaround to generate security to receive financing for new projects. What am I missing in this interview?
Granted starting from scratch an impossible feat for a person, but a successful model already generating a substantial monthly income can recreate this model by themselves.
Invite the big banks to the townships will be a big mistake ever made keep them way . the rise of the township economy should benefit the locals in mpumalanga some townships are now way above the so called suburb areas .
It doesn't end with Building Plans..it involves Town Planning approval as well which mostly will require Rezoning application which can be a 6 months process,
Which is why she is turning 3 bedroom house to 6 bedrooms for time being. After all those processes she will be able to build whole huge building.
Thanks for this great insight.
Shout out to GG. Give that man a Bells.
Well said!!!
Banks are missing a sirious business but not being progressive
I hope she's up to date with Sars
Why would you doubt that she is? This woman raised capital for a business, I am pretty sure she has sought out an accountant.
My only concern is that she is not a fronting ....hopefully not ... she is a very intelligent lady
