i became a homestuck fan pretty recently, and i remember watching this 3 years ago, not yet a fan of homestuck, so i didnt know who the fuck these characters were when i first watched it.

ive been seeing so much bad characterization of karkat lately, so this is a breath of fresh air. like hes so sweet and loves everyone, and mostly everyone knows that by now, but i feel like people clung to that and just forgot entirely that he is a total fucking asshole on the surface. like yes deep down he is a really sweet guy and he does everything he can for his friends and blames himself when he isnt good enough. but he would still tell you to die in a hole with no prompting. thats what makes him karkat. when you take that away and have him say nice stuff to everyone like "oh sollux is my best friend!!" "everyone get along now :3" then you dont even have karkat anymore. at that point, thats just A Guy. like a pleasant fellow. karkat is not a pleasant fellow. he would call sollux an annoying asshole freak and yell at everyone to just do what he fucking says for the love of FUCK. sollux IS his best friend, he DOES want everyone to get along, but its expressed through his actions and not his words.
