- Nikon officially owns RED now and they immediately took over the top position appointing new Japanese CEO's and demoting president Jarred Land and founder James Jannard to advisors to the janitors. They are now responsible for what brooms they use.

This is standard fare. Jarred gets to pocket a very fat wad of cash, they keep him around for a while for legal reasons, but as soon as he can get out of there he’ll be out. I worked for a company that was acquired, after the acquisition the ex-CEO spent all his time soaking up the sun on his boat while working in a “advisory” role.

The founder and owner of Red Cinema Camera Company is James Jannard of whom he was CEO and President until 2019 then passing the delegations to Jarred Land, for various health reasons, always remaining the largest shareholder of Red. Jannard is supposed to have sold Red for health reasons that were rumoured. Of course, the acquiring company puts its men at the command posts.
Last time a company didn't do that the acquired company ended up couping the acquiring company and now planes fall out of the sky.

Screw Red. They made it so unfriendly to use unless you are shelling out a ton of money. Red only works with red accessories besides glass. Need an extra battery? It has to be a million dollar red battery. I've used a few of their cameras and while the footage was nice I was flabbergasted by how much they cost to rig out with only red propriety parts really working.
I like how the Nikon rep went from Japanese to Korean to Chinese to Vietnamese. Or something.

Both of them had to know that was going to happen as part of the acquisition by Nikon. They almost certainly knew they would be transitioning as advisors for a while as that kind of change is often part of the deal and is normal when a company is bought by another.

Nikon is a global corporation. Red had vastly outgrown the management expertise of Jarred Land. He was a techno geek and there is no way that he could have survived a month in the disciplined environment of a global Japanese company. Nikon will bring manufacturing expertise and technical innovation and make Red its video offering. Its the denoument of hyprid cameras for quality content creators. There are too many compromises to making 6K video in a sensor that gives optimal still performance.

imo the Canon EF 24mm had more natural colour & 3D pop (as you call it) & sharpness than the Zeiss, and true-to-life texture too, but not quite as detailed overall as the 85mm canon but damn close.
If Nikon takes advantage of the video algos in the RED 🍒 then finally we might see another top notch stills/video camera to rival Sony & the rest.
