That was the best video of yours I've seen so far, man. The crash came as a total surprise after 12 minutes of quality looking DH trails. I'm used to riding fire tracks in Guisborough forest so that Alpine stuff looks insane. Keep the great content coming.
I'm up to date on your latest rides so taking a look at some of your older stuff, looked a big off that one, hope he teeth are still in one piece. Going to be doing some of your routes when this lock down is over.
You even ride the same routes abroad LOL had a couple of offs myself over there last year 2019 on the last run of the hol and while watching this I was thinking I need to get better kitted out with protection then BANG down you went !! hope you recovered ok ..
Andy Phillip it hit my confidence a little with it been on a green run. My teeth have only just recovered from it. The front ones were all loose as it turned out I had fractured my jaw just under my teeth. Was my 1st time there. Loved it. Just booked for this year. 1st week in July 👊
@@TrailFinder it looked a hard one ..its an awesome place definitely over again this year but not sure when yet ..done the passports the last couple of years but giving that a miss this year 🤘
Speedy recovery fella! Nasty business this MTBing lark! I was gonna say “fair play” for taking it steady on the black..... hopefully you’re back on it! 👍
Bloody hell that was a shock. Watching your vids has got me into mountain biking mate (so in theory you have already cost me a couple of grand on my new bike)!! Debut tomorrow for my go pro but I have gone for a chest mount!!! Speedy recovery
That was a fantastic ride beautiful trials and so shocked to see you come off at the end hope you recover quickly you will have to go into more detail of how you have your camera attached to your helmet because this is getting a very popular thing to do and I am also looking at doing it. So any information that you share will help others make better decisions for better attachments to make the cameras hope you didn't miss too much riding after your accident. Been watching all of these amazing European videos that you've been putting out recently. Hope you get back in the saddle soon. Take care buddy.
RHP Mountain & Trail just missed one days riding. Back on the bike this weekend. Was asking for trouble with camera set up. It was mounted at the top with an extension running down the front. My new helmet the mount is at the bottom with the camera attached straight to it. Any slight knock and this set up will snap straight off. Gone fox Proframe this time. As there is a nice flat spot at the bottom for a mount
Just goes to show how vulnerable we are out there! Looking at your vids makes it look too easy but after something like this you realise how the slightest of errors on two wheels can result in horrific injuries. Hope you’re doing good now.
Physically I’m back to normal now. Although I have a Harry Potter shaped scar on my chin⚡️ 😂 But mentally it still effects me. I don’t push as hard as I used to. I think in the alps easy green runs are the most dangerous. As experienced bikes go faster. Thanks for asking how I’m doing 😁
Trail-Finder that’s good to hear man I’ve only just got into cycling with the world famous pandemic going round but I guess it’s true what they say about clouds with silver linings. You lived to tell the tale only to get back back on the journey with caution and a stronger humbled spirit, which is the main thing. I guess you can wear the scar like a badge of honour to remind you of what could have been and that no matter how much we like to think we’re in control there’s a higher power keeping us in check and humbled. Keep it up man your deffo an inspiration to a lot of us out there! Respect from West Yorkshire✌🏽
I have a 3D printer that can print hard rubber, similar to that of a skateboard wheel. If you would like a GoPro mount/housing printed, fashion it in wood and send it over. I’ll 3D model it and print it. Could be a softer impact than present.
Baz Edmundson it’s back on my chin guard on my new helmet. But a lot safer design. Will instantly snap off if I crash again. It nearly breaks off just taking the camera in and out.
Damn you went down hard then I wasn’t expecting your “off” then(bet you certainly wasn’t) !! Yet again another cracking video thanks and get well soon pal 👍🏻
HAL I was a little shocked to come off on a green run. That’s how easy it is to crash. I’m back to normal now. But with big scar on my chin. And thanks for the kind words 😁
No it’s still chin mounted. But differently. The new set up it will snap off instantly. If you had seen my last set up. I was asking for trouble if I face planted. Which I did. The camera had no where to go but through the helmet
That’s a great vid and a sobering ending. Hope all is well now Andy. I know the area well from Snowboarding, but not on a MTB yet. Was the GoPro chin mounted? Just goes to show the value of full face helmets though. It’s odd that they seem to carry an “uncool” stigma in MTB. I can see that knocking your confidence. Great content and channel Andy 👍🏼
Yes I can see why it came off the kitty litter in the bottom of the berm. it's all very good saying that in hindsight that you should've took the higher line. I've had a similar thing happened to me and caused me to have benign positional vertigo for a year and a half not fun.
Still makes me wince when watching that, question, was that a TLD Stage Helmet, if so, how would you rate it before your GoPro gate crashed your mouth only I've seen them at a very affordable £147 and very tempted, cheers.
GAVIN LEIGHTON it’s a very very good helmet. Extremely light weight. Don’t let my crash put you off. The way I had the go pro mounted was the problem. Not the helmet.
i have a question, do you think your injury would have been less worse or even none, if you had mounted your gopro somewhere else? I have mine underneeth my sunvisor but i was considering a chin mount.
If I was not wearing the camera. The accident would have been ok. But It was the way I had it mounted that was the problem. The camera had nowhere to go apart from through the chin guard and into my chin. It’s now attached a different way and would snap off instantly during a crash.
bob manwaring it’s having to keep explaining to my work why I can’t go in what’s my problem 😂😂 had 6 weeks off this year so far though MTB injury’s. it’s a good job I’ve got personal accident insurance 👊
Mark Saunders full on face plant mark. I’m a lot better now as the crash was 3 weeks ago. I had a Troy Lee stage helmet and the mount was at the top of the chin piece. Which turned out to be very bad for me. I’ve now got a Fox Proframe and it is now at the bottom. It will snap off instantly if I crash again. Back out on the bike this weekend for some (mellow) riding 😂😂
Lakedistrictrider not a fan of chest mount. I have a new helmet and mount now which will snap instantly in the event of a crash. It nearly snaps off when I take the camera in and out of the housing. Was asking for trouble with my old design with the extension piece running down the front of the helmet. There was only one way it could go,and that was straight through the helmet. Live and learn 😁
Mark Collingwood I’ve recovered well apart from the fracture. Should be back on the bike this week. It was a full on face plant so very nasty. I can’t watch the footage 😢
You're made of true Yorkshire Grit, speedy recovery, you'll be smashing the miles out very soon 🤟🤟🍻
GAVIN LEIGHTON thanks mate 👊

Farang Lao thanks mate. Still not 100% after that crash
Speedy recovery! Watching your vids always motivates me to get out on my bike more.
Liam Wilkinson thanks mate. I’m nearly recovered. I’m glad I’m motivating you to get out.

Great footage Andy! You’d done the hard stuff and such an unexpected off. Mend quickly!!
John Hiles green runs are more dangerous than blacks mate. Because you think they are easy and you push harder.

Thanks John I will keep this in mind.
Jesus Charlie, that was some hit. I'd be mounting that go pro else where bud. Glad your ok, even though I have been waiting for this footage!!!
Baz Edmundson it’s back on my chin guard on my new helmet. But a lot safer design. Will instantly snap off if I crash again. It nearly breaks off just taking the camera in and out.
@@TrailFinder that's good, who would have thought that would have happened. You were lucky that you weren't k.o'd
An unusual crash. Full on face plant. Just happened that quick. Nearly back to normal now though mate. Very lucky
Damn you went down hard then I wasn’t expecting your “off” then(bet you certainly wasn’t) !!
Yet again another cracking video thanks and get well soon pal 👍🏻

Ended up having 4 teeth out and implants putting in. Expensive crash
Nice video, despite the reality of seeing you come off its still made me feel like I need to get to the mountains at some stage
The poetic mtbr get your self to the mountains mate. It’s so nice just descending and getting a lift back to the top
Took that fall like a champ mate, hope you make a speedy recovery
Theholdsworths thanks mate. My teeth have stopped wobbling around now. So nearly back to normal 👊
@@TrailFinder Glad to hear! Hope to see some more rad trails!

Damn that was a big slam, healing vibes and hope you're back to full fitness soon
Robert Bransby was 8 months ago this Robert. So back to normal now. Although only just got back up to speed.
@@TrailFinder good to hear that, I'm heading out there this summer for the first time in about 15 years
I’ve just booked again for this year. Going 1st week in July 👊👊 have a great time
Damn that was a sneaky slideslip! recover well and soon Andy!
SHARCRASH it certainly was sneaky mate. I’m healing nicely. Nearly back to normal 👊
Hope you’re on the mend your videos are great 👍🏻 .

@@TrailFinder ow okay, it was mounted directely on the front instead of underneeth? Nice vid btw, going to Morzine for the first time this summer!
