When people hear the word Atari, they’re overcome with nostalgia. Then, after playing Atari games for about 20 minutes, they realize why the video game crash of 83 happened. The fact is, third generation consoles (nes, master system et al) were a giant leap forward in video games and everything before that just doesn’t hold up. There’s a hunger for some officially licensed casual/retro gaming but while $100 might be worth it for something that plays 3rd and 4th generation console games, it’s not worth it for frogger and super breakout.
Agreed, my first game system was an Atari 2600 when I was like 6-7 years old. I had/still have most Atari systems, all the way to the Jag. Looking back at the 2600, There are a few games that I can play today, there was some really fun games, most were shovel ware. I do think this system is overpriced for pretty much an "emulation box"(we've seen this style before, stick in cart, it rips the rom and you play the rom type system). It's not going to sell like hotcakes. I looked it up, this system would not work with a Everdrive type cart because of the way it works (all "emulation boxes" have a problem with everdrives).. If this was like $50, for the nostalgia type thing, I might grab it but, at $130, no, not worth it in my eyes...
I bought it 10 years ago to do youtube prank videos, never got to that. Over that time I only scared a postman and my cat a few times. Now I found a good use for it
Unfortunately not.. It's just software emulation - not fully compatible with either library, especially when it comes to homebrews and flashcarts, which is a complete deal breaker for me. A swing & a miss... If they would've made it an FPGA from the get-go, it could've been a homerun. You'd be better off getting a real 7800 instead. 🤷🏻
@@alegreviews Nah, just a person from a different time frame. If you grew up with the Atari systems, this might peak interest. If you started with a GameCube/PS2, or an Xbox 360. Yea, I could see why someone would say "Atari 2600 is trash" Looking at it today, it's a joke compared with what we have even 10 years ago. So basic games but, some where real trash...
This is really for people like me who kept there Atari 2600 cartridges but need a modern system to play them. I personally love it.

not complicated, designed like an actual Arcade Board inside a machine to select different options.
u have to hide behind a mask?
I was thinking about being distinctive and recognizable from thumbnails
Can't take this seriously... that mask is doing my head in

The best Atari would be the Atari 1040 STe.
Lol. I’ve no idea what it is, gotta google
@@alegreviews The Fatboy Slim album You've Come a Long Way, Baby was created using an Atari ST.
What's with the Joe Biden mask?
LOL !
I feel old just listening to you... -.-
Is it the mask?))
I started with NES. So Atari feels old to me.
@@alegreviewsI started with Pong. Prior to that it was a stick and a wheel on this stuff called grass.
Atari 2600 is trash
I think fans will like it. But I don’t see myself personally playing it. I prefer flashback and my arcade versions
