When I was younger, a Democrat and a Republican could get together, have an intelligent discussion, have a beer together, and still part friendly. Then the extremes took over, especially the far left.
True. In my day the left and right are basically the same. No TV show, Hollywood, Movie etc really pushed one side or the other. You had no idea what politics a candy bar had. Left and right had small differences in government but no side would attack free speech with "hate speech laws" or "misinformation" nonsense. No side would attack the 2nd with nonsense like Red flag laws, taxing bullets to death, banning attachments and so on. No side would attack Christmas either.
Today we have Communist left and the broken down right which is more like the left of the past but filled with many RINOS.
It's all due to extreme self-entitlement and their parents being friends first. Primarily the first one, that's what breeds narcissism, is making everything about ME.

When I was getting my degree in college, i took a few basic psychology classes because I wanted to use that information to better understand myself. one thing that I learned about is called Locus of Control. Basically, it's the degree to which you believe you have control of things around you and that happen to you. Having a more external Locus of Control means that you generally believe you have very little control over things around you and that happen to you. Having a more internal Locus of Control means that you have more control. Now this can in fact have a large impact on your self worth generally people who have internal LoC care way less about how others view and value them. People who have external LoC care very much about other people's opinions of themselves. So, a single comment like "why do you look like a girl?" Can seriously mess up someone with a higher external LoC. Because wether it was intended that way or not it basically comes across as an attack on their character and self worth
