Most of the raves were underground, held in warehouses, outside of big cities, where people would go to experiment with drugs, alcohol, GHB, trip out to music with friends and other people. You could go where no one would judge you, escape from the pressures of society, social norms and rules. That's how I experienced it. It was an amazing time to be alive, no rules, no social media, no cell phones, raves and underground events were by word of mouth, no flyers, no promotion, people keep it on the down low so they wouldn't get shut down.
