i love these two so much!!! this kind of got away from me and i'm not 100% happy with the end but i was desperate to include that quote from martin because...he's the crux for all of this. unfortunately i didn't have time for jessica's quote that goes to the effect of 'you'll be soaked in blood' but i wanted to focus this on ainsley and malcolm. their bond, their serial killer influences, their similarities and differences. how they see each other, martin, themselves, the weight of their family. how they react to similar situations. i don't support the idea of seeing ainsley like martin because she's had the influence of watkins as well, balanced by jessica and malcolm. imo she and malcolm are like 2 sides of a coin: they're both capable of being in the grey, emotional, obsessive, and drawn to dark mysteries. but their reactions are quite different. ainsley compartmentalizes - to the extreme of not even realizing when she does it, with endicott. but malcolm is completely incapable of that and burdened by every possibility. i'm so stoked for where this goes in s2.
