    If anything, I think we can all agree that 2017 was one of the most competitive seasons for Bands of America.

      @ret2rick 7 лет назад +8

      Possibly. However, during finals last year, they included a 13th finalist due to a tie for the last finalist slot. No more than 12 finalist bands have been to finals since 1995. The scores in the lower half finalists were excruciatingly tight, and Carmel and Avon tied for the top spot, with Carmel becoming national champions due to capturing best overall effect.

      I know! We somehow had a better show than last year, and dropped 50 spots! insane

      Considering that Avon barely squeaked by to place 4th in San Antonio you may be correct but Then came 2019. By far the most competitive nats to date!

    I have nothing against the Bands which participated but these are all schools which have alot of money , a huge number of members and better drill righters i just don't see the points of saying only 500 bands chose excellence they chose these competitions becuase they have the money and members to do well.

      SneakySteve 333 as much as it sucks, it also means they have lots of money for individual lessons and come from districts with a high economic standing. That means most of these kids were raised by parents that helped pay for their music classes outside band. In reality, this still means most of these kids are still better than other bands regardless of how they got to their level of talent.

      It's true. I am from Dobyns-Bennett high school (6th place finalist 😊) and there are rumors that we won't afford to got to Indy in 2019 season.

      Marion Catholic has the most Grand National Championships, 7, to boot. Most of these programs are funded through members raising money and community contributions. In Broken Arrow, they have countless deals with businesses in the community to help fund raise, as well as hosting their own events including an annual 5K run and a golf tournament. It takes an entire community to get these students where they are.

      Eric Salazar yeah as much as it seems like it would be an amazing experience for those who like this kind of thing, I don't think I'd enjoy it if my band was this competitive. Too time consumning.

      Yeah the competition is pretty difficult but even if you don’t advance you’ll still get to experience the closest thing in highschool to dci

    • @bryanhuynh6163
      @bryanhuynh6163 6 лет назад +3

      If your from Texas (which I am) there’s a lot of competition and you aren’t likely to advance mainly because of schools like Flowermound and LD Bell

      Broken Arrow did not deserve the spot they got this year. They essentially reused last year show. I'm not saying they didn't deserve a spot in finals, I'm saying that they did not deserve 2nd place.

      Grand Nationals is overrated. Not all bands can attend but if they could we wouldn't have the same bands winning or in the top 3.

    • @jordanramsey7465
      @jordanramsey7465 7 лет назад +10

      You do realize that DCI is the exact same way right? 😂 same band winning every year. Also, you can’t really compared SA to Grand Nationals just based on the fact that you had 15 90’s and up at it. Remember, every competition has a different panel of judges. A GE judge could give someone a 30 where another one somewhere else could give the same performance a 35. It all just depends on the judging.

    • @Truef1ame
      @Truef1ame 7 лет назад +5

      jordan ramsey-heil Yeah but there were 3 grand national finalists at San Antonio that didn't make finals, one of those was round rock and they made it to finals at grand nats but not San Antonio

    • @stevejohnson6687
      @stevejohnson6687 7 лет назад +7

      And...all of the Texas backers jump in right on cue to say "ours is better". There's no way to know until everyone shows up at the same event and you all know it. San Antonio was amazing and so was Grand Nats. What they all have in common is some amazing kids who work their butts off for 6 months to do their best on some really big stages. How about dropping in here to talk about THIS event and not about how much better your event is? Grow up people and back these kids and not your fragile egos.
