This is by far the best and most innovative RC bungee launcher system I've seen so far. Thanks for sharing and providing all the detail necessary to duplicate your work. Going to build one this weekend for my Team-Legit 6D wing.
Very cool! I love bungee launchers. Thanks for taking the time for this video.
IB, thank you for taking the time to put this video together. This is going to be extremely helpful for me.
Awesome~. Absolutely I thank that this is in best one of all bungee launchers.
This thing is gonna be perfect for launching my glow powered STRIX Alatus! Gonna build mine this week.
I've almost finished mine! A few changes to fit my style but basically the same.
Arm's getting tired chucking models so trying the safer way to get them airborne.
Thanks for posting!
Struggling to find the parts in the UK
Great presentation
Nice design IB! I like it!
Awesome job man!!!
Awesome. My first day out with my S800 was pretty good . Inav and auto launch worked good then I tried manual mode and had too much travel on ailerovons and crashed. Fixed but successful launches after were not consistent. Making a launch system seems to be the way to go , certainty for the vas spec wing I’m building.
Very nice!
Very nice 👍
Love it. What other planes would work with this?

You could have a pulley in the front and stick the bungee under the ramp instead of in front. Got that idea from roller spear guns that work in the same way!
You may be crazy, but this is a great launcher! Thanks!
Seems I’ve had trouble launching anything about Mini Drak size and larger with the launcher I’ve been working on, just fine on spec wing size. Your concept is definitely more simplified than what I did. Hope to see a few like this at some of the upcoming fpv meets out in the Northwest.
More tension (thicker bands) will be needed for planes like a MiniDrak, but the launcher will certainly work for it. Remember that over time the bands will fatigue and will need to be tightened back up. You can avoid this by breaking down the launcher when not in use.
I gave up on bungee type and went with spring loaded antenna tensioners with pulleys. Still have a couple changes I can make, funny that I saw your shock cord attachment on yours after I had to use one on the roller already to keep from destroying the carriage assembly. It’ll be fun seeing what other people come up with, kind of like the drop off launch dolly that been working well so far.
That's funny, I also built a launch frame for Spec Wing, but not with bungee. I thought it is a nice idea but sometimes my prop scratches the launcher but it's much lighter than yours look like.
thanks
Inav Launch mode works great for small wings. This catapult system can be useful for bigger platforms, may be.
Ivan Ivanov
This for wing racing. No FC allowed
I was wondering how well iNav AL would pick up on this launch method too. Understanding it was designed for racers.
This catapult is gonna be a godsend for my STRIX Alatus as I put a Magnum 15XL two stroke on the back of it. Nobody around me fancies trying to throw that thing and I don't blame 'em.
Alex, in the field video, you have the front cross bar below the 20" extension section that holds the therabands. But in the build part of the video it looks like the front cross bar is above. Which is correct?
love the launcher and i want to make one. I copied the parts list, how can i get a copy of the plans ?
Any chances you'll be able to make the ferraband available on ready-made-rc ??
Fingers are safe then...well done
I know you are always supposed to have a friend while doing fpv but this would definitely help I really want one 👍👍👍
I fly solo all the time. Nothing wrong with flying alone.
Agreed I fly beside a very large farm no one around fly alone most all the time
Pretty sweet! I wish you would have shown how the plane attaches to the cart better though.
It just sets on the cart. There is no attachment.
@@CAGreve1231 Cool. Yeah, I re watched it again, and kinda figured that. Thanks!
discus and google down?
this is cool, too
Tried any other planes for a hook up.
Do the brackets push on the ailerons?
If you happen to have a written listing of the materials (with lengths etc.) that would be very helpful. I know you described them pretty well in the video, so NBD if not.
I will update the video description with a materials list.
Anyone have an itemized list of materials needed and build plans for this bungee launcher ?
This looks to be the golden ticket for launching my nitro powered STRIX Alatus! They're known for being a bit of a bitch to launch anyway and I'm only looking at 800g or so of static thrust so it's doubly hard to launch.
Fantastic design. Do you sell as a kit?
We don't unfortunately. However, your local hardware store should have all of the parts to make this.
PULL!!
Alex, we need to get your camera fixed. either the sensor is bad or the lens is broken, cause its not coming out right for sure
@IBCrazy what would you recommend for a first FPV google for some one trying to get in to FPV wings?
FXT Marvel Visions. Cheap, reasonably small, and have a good receiver and DVR. Hard to beat those goggles.
where can I get wing spars and the covering you use?
I get my spars from Goodwinds: www.goodwinds.com
Hi Alex please check my parts list below.
Also can you further explain the first two items. Thanks for the great design.
4x Compression fittings for 3/4" conduit
4x Bushings to thread compression fittings into pvc
2x 5' sections of 3/4" RGS conduit
2x RGS 3/4" couplers
2x RGS 3/4" elbows
25 feet 1" PVC pipe (5x 5 foot lengths) * Includes some additional for cutting scrap
2x 90 degree elbow 1" PVC pipe
2x 45 degree elbow 1" PVC pipe
14x T fitting 1" PVC pipe
2x Angle brackets
1x Clevis pin
1x Hairpin cotter for clevis pin
1x steel hook to engage clevis
8 feet of shock cord
4 feet of nylon cord
2x Theraband green bands
Misc. hardware to join angle brackets to PVC pipe
THat looks right to me. The compression fittings and bushings are what are needed to couple the metal rails to the PVC.
@@CAGreve1231 Thanks. I understand what those items are for, just not exactly sure what to buy. The compression fitting is probably going to be obvious once I am at the builders supply. But the bushing... I'm not really sure what to buy. Is that a standard item that is sold for conduit? Or are you just using some sort of generic bushing that fits in the pipe to make a thread for the compression fitting? If so what is it made of?
i think the pipe is E.M.T.
Correct. EMT (electrical metallic tubing) also know as conduit.
@@CAGreve1231 yes not rigid
Much better option than using pvc bushings and adhesive for connecting to the rgs compression fittings can be found here: www.pvcfittingsonline.com/435-131-1-x-3-4-schedule-40-pvc-reducing-female-adapter.html
how long is 14 inches?
Sorry. love your videos, just can`t understand any of your weights/measures
14" = 356mm
I have much less complicated bungee system. Just rubber, string and stick in ground: ruclips.net/video/KMYH_jq8Sdo/видео.htmlsi=-PASxwSIpS2B5TSa&t=26
iNav launch mode anyone?
we just put it in angle mode and hold 1/2 up elevator (invented by Jelle ;-) )
@Дмитрий Овчаров indeed, or put some wheels on the plane ;-)
.... takes the time to build a bungee launcher. can't be bothered to change the OSD on his new camera.
Not my plane, not his launcher ;)
