Mike, I hunted you after watching you electricity/ Tesla lesson which I couldn't comment on.Excellent calibre of lectures and a pleasure to see someone whose interests are so diverse, bravo, very well done!
Globe valve is used to control flow, that is why it has much higher pressure drop. Changing the pressure drop (valve opening) the flow changes. Also missing is the butterfly valve.
There are a few other valves. Beyond a check valve there is a double check, a dual check and an RP check, then there are also butterfly valves, ball valves, needle valves, solenoid valves, even the flapper on a toilet is a valve...and I am sure I have missed a few...LOL
note before watching: the video cuts short, contains basic info that itself is incomplete via a drop in sound during playback, better to invest the time you would spend watching in looking for reference material in a library. this is I think the point the creator wishes to impress as non of his videos seem complete or detailed.
Mike, you shouldn't have said the designations for gate and globe valves have been superseded, then used their old names without telling us the new names that superseded the old names. I work in the industry, and we still call them gate and globe valves here in America.
Not only that, if there is a drop in pressure or a vacuum in the main water supply, not only does a vacuum breaker prevent back-flow of water but also prevents air from entering into the main water system by closing the opening. Your information is flawed.
Butterfly valves used in domestic water plumbing systems are generally more expensive. They are better suited for HVAC systems where the fluid used is treated for anti corrosion and non-potable.

The isolation valves of large backflow preventers are called OS&Y valves. Outside Screw and Yoke.

Do I have to learn this if I go for plumbing course?
These are all great videos, but they all seem incomplete. Where's the rest?
pay up homie ;)

I think your toilet is clogged (vacuum breaker drawing)
good ,make more videose on plumbing
Your drawing of the "atmospheric vacuum breaker" is incorrect- the direction of water flow is wrong.

What about butterfly valves?
