I agree that he should know this already. This is stuff you learn back in little league. Probably the reason why he never made it anywhere. When Wally speaks, you listen and you better take it seriously no matter what that man tells you. Thankfully I’ve had the honor of being coached by Wally. Legend.
wally is teaching that old linear hitting, the problem with this kid is not getting into the power L position early enough, looks someone had him doing the old double tee drill and has chopping down on the ball
Thats the problem with a lot of high school and college coaches they make kids change their natural swings and screws them up for a long time after that. Once you get into the minors your progress is so much slower than everyone elses because you have to teach yourself how to hit all over again but you're not in instructional league you're trying to make it to the show.
Some dudes in Juco and other colleges can get by with sheer athleticism and talent until that ends and the next level begins. Then it’s all about consistency and fundamentals
A comment below was made that about guys losing the fundamental part of their swing, it happens more now than it use to especially so many guys who get in a slump at the plate and they stay there till they find it again which over time they do. Even as a pro you truly can never stop being coached up on how to improve your swing or really anything in general.
This is what actual good managers do. They coach players and help them make adjustments to break slumps. Jack asses like my high school coach-Bob Quinn-will let you suffer or bench you and depend on other people to pick up the slack. Doesn’t work.
How can he be playing at that level when he doesn’t even know how to correctly swing the bat. Not for nothing but my high school baseball catcher was 100 times better then him
Lol...some people are better when they're drunk. I had a friend that I refused to ride in a car with when he was SOBER...scare you to death. But when he was soused, he could drive a race car...lol.
Wally Backman not managing an MLB team is just absurd. The knowledge, motivation, and love for the game he provides is needed on so many clubs.
kicky_sam_49 I agree that he could be a MLB Manager. But this is pretty basic.
@@TheRipcity7 Yes. My comment was more of a general one
The guy is a natural baseball manager.. him not being back in the majors is insanity.
Fundamentals of baseball. Can't get any better than that
I just can't believe tug didn't know how to lead the handle. You learn that as early as entry level little league after t ball

Did u make it somewhere ?
Love you Wally Backman World Series Champion 🏆 1986 New York Mets Baseball ⚾🇺🇸❤️🙏✝️
I remember when Tug gave me tips on my APUSH exam, which helped me get a 4 !

my knob always starts my path and its usually 40 miles of rough road
Back to T ball fundamentals
Love the fundamentals, but it's kind of hard to believe someone playing minor leagues, and a good player, would need to be told that.
True

I mean not really, hitting is hard. Sometimes guys lose track of fundamentals and certain swing aspects. Everyone needs a reminder once in a while

I don't know how somebody with that much of a flaw in their swing even made it to that level in the first place.

I think he's a pitcher. (Don't know much about this league, and don't know where to find information) This league played with NL rules.
He’s a catcher. No excuses. Even pitchers know how to swing the bat.
@@nbmusic1622 Really? Oh, that's uh... uh... well.....
I'm surprised Backman was sober enough to remain standing...
