    Beating your horse because it just refused or got scared is absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. If he was so comfortable to beat the poor thing like that in public then IMAGINE what's going on when he is alone with the horse.

      For all the ones saying the horse couldn't feel that whip yall don't know what u r talking about. First off, horses have a thinner layer of skin than us. Second off, they have more nerve endings than we do, so they feel pain easier than we do. Thirdly, horses r sensitive and r prey animals. They have a fight or flight response to things. Let me start off by all of u that use whips, spurs, or other harsh equipment yall r just disgusting and disrespectful. Sorry not sorry. Horses don't deserve to be hit with whips, kicked with spurs, drugged with drugs, or be put through uncomfortable situations that make them upset just to get u fame, money, wealth, or whatever it is that u r using them for. First off, whipping a horse to go over a jump or because it refuses a jump doesn't help anyone, all that does is scare the horse and make them work with u out of fear. Also, letting ur emotions get in the way when working with animals is a huge no no. U don't let ur emotions cloud ur judgement. Animals can sense ur emotions and tell what u r feeling. I want yall to take ur whip and repeatedly hit urself in the same spot/area, and tell me how it feels after a few hits. After u get out of a pool and ur skin is wet hit urself with a whip repeatedly and tell me how it feels. Take ur spurs and hit urself in the ribs repeatedly with them just like u do to the horses u ride and tell me how u feel after. If u try to say that none of it hurts then u weren't doing it the same way u do to ur horse. Horses tell u when they r hurting or uncomfortable, but so many of yall ignore them and don't pay attention to their body language and behavior. If people went through what horses go through people would start a rebellion because they would be tired of living the shitty life they r given. Common people quit being blind and naive. Thousands of horses die a year for people, and it's sad, and it's not just how it is, it's because people r selfish, stubborn, and disrespectful.

      This was at the Tokyo Olympics with the new team format with no drop score that all the riders hated and protested heavily. The rider knew his team would be eliminated if he didn't finish the course and you could see the agony and indecision on his face as he rode around, knowing his horse was having some sort of issue, wanting to pull up but also not wanting to eliminate his team. I felt so bad for him because the decision to put one's country over one's horse's safety is a decision no rider should ever have to make, and shame on the Olympic committee for putting riders in that position.

    Some of these people misuse their crop. It’s supposed to be a pressure tool, not a hitting to punish tool. The horse doesn’t know why you are punishing them as it’s not their nature to punish, just to apply pressure until someone does what they want so if you want your horse to yield in, lightly tap the opposite side of their body no harder than how hard you’d hit your own face a few times until they drop that shoulder.

    Most of these riders need to learn basic skills. They do not have center of balance. Horses can't move correctly if riders are not in correct position. Learn to ride bareback. Don't rush into jumping until you have a secure seat without hanging on the horse's mouth.

    • @kiley7181
      @kiley7181 3 года назад +7

      First of all. Everyone falls sometimes, these are not due to lack of basic skills nor do they need to learn to ride bareback? I had my first freak accident ride by bareback due to owning a younger horse. You don’t know the training horse and rider has received, don’t make assumptions. For example my horse is green, I’ve been the person to give him lots of training and I still fall off because he has a fear of shows and simply being outside. Ive ridden him bareback but it’s not something me or him do anymore because of when he stepped on my abdomen. I know my basic skills and have a center of balance, I fell off because he spooked, everyone has their bad days. One of the people who fell off, on the grey paint, wasn’t even holding her reins, so not all were hanging on the horses mouth. Just explaining what I believe and giving examples. Hopefully I didn’t come off as rude, but have a good day^^

      @@kiley7181 I am sorry you were injured. I have left dents in the ground and gone home with cactus in me. I emulated the Native American people who never rode with a saddle.
      Why is you horse afraid to go outside? Can you partner with another rider on a calm horse? Professional riders still fall, it happens. Their level of riding makes it a rare event.
      Have you watched the Lippazaner riders? They do not use stirrups. They are truly balanced.
      The riders in the video were not prepared for the higher jumps, mainly younger riders. Falls are going to happen when not prepared for those jumps.
      No, you were not rude, but defensive.
      If possible, long trail rides to relax both you and your young horse provided you have the open space to ride. NATRC is a great way to learn many things for partnering with your horse. @@cherylboelter7543 I agree maybe they weren’t ready for such heights. I have watched a few, not in person of course. Falling off is the way someone could learn - in my opinion - and through training of course and eventually learn to have a better center of gravity.
      I have no clue why my horse is afraid of being outside, he was fine last year but suddenly this year during the show season I noticed he hasn’t been as relaxed and is quite tense. He’s been a bit better as of lately. He’s almost always outside with other horses and riders simply because of lessons there’s usually at least four of us.
      I do believe the barn he was born and raised at never did take the time to realize his potential as they would only ride him directly before shoes and wouldn’t put much into his training - so his training and potential were neglected. He has been brought down in levels to resolve his show fear.

      @@lydia1642 Horses don't do things just because they are jerks. That horse saw something or felt something off so he refused, likely was afraid of the fence. If you want your horse to associate jumping with being a good thing, don't punish your horse for having a normal reaction while jumping. And if you're going to punish for a refusal, you need to do it immediately, not seconds after or else the horse will not associate the whip with the refusal. Crops are also meant to be used as a tool to encourage the horse, not a tool to take out your frustrations (as we saw in the modern pentathlon...). That man's actions were uncalled for and the horse learned nothing from it, all it did was make the rider feel better about himself.

If you think that is acceptable, than you need to go back to the basics and learn how to train a horse the right way or stop working with horses all together because, that is dangerous. If any of my clients did that to their horses they wouldn't be at my barn anymore. Your horse is your partner and putting a bit into their mouth then tying them down like that is a unnecessary risk to your horses life and that, is unacceptable and no way to treat your partner.

      I aggree to a point however that horse was being gently lunged, anything is a hazard to them even if used correctly. That is actually a very common and normal training aid, the cord is designed to snap if a lot of pressure is put onto it. I understand it looks dangerous bit heck, a saddle is dangerous if put on wrong! That training aid is to help with relaxation- asing them to come more into the contact and as well as that - a lot of people dont have time to put on a roller with a pessoa or a saddle with side reins. That is a much more simple and still safe way of achieveing the same outcome. Secondly we have no prior information on that horse, for all you know it could of been only lunged with that on and feels better w it etc etc. We simply do not know.
