  • My '63 Eko Mascot M1 I got when I was in middle school is now 50 years old, so I thought I'd make a video to commemorate the momentous occasion. I also haven't done any videos on bottleneck in a while since I have been focusing on lap steel and thought it would be a nice change of pace.
I'm just noodling around in open D, maybe quoting parts of Ry Cooder's "Feelin' Bad Blues" and some others here and there.

you be good, man....so versatile: from the Beatles to Hendrix to Pink Floyd....but as a blues junkie, I like your slide playin' on slower blues tunes the most

I grew up in Wisconsin (I live in Boston now). The main U.S. importer of Eko guitars (The LoDuca Bros.) was in Milwaukee, WI, but I got mine when I was about 11 or 12 years old in an antique mall. The neck is quite twisted so it is unplayable fretted, but makes a great slide guitar.

Feelin Bad Blues was the song that made me pick up slide guitar. Such a cool song!

Ever play at the Narrows Center for the Arts in Fall River? They do a lot of blues and guitar-based shows. The most recent show I saw there was Sonny Landreth.....it's a bit of a drive for me to get there but well worth it! If you were playing there I could definitely do the trip! PS, Ry Cooder is touring soon, my wife and I already got our tickets ....

Awesome stuff! I'm from Wisconsin as well! I have the same guitar minus the electrics. Still want to know what kind of pickup that is. In addish to the Mascot, I also have a 60s P8 EKO, but never pick it up. Cheers man!

Hi man! I watched some of your videos and I could say I love your style! Can I ask where are you from and how did you get that beautiful Eko? I'm from Italy and those "picked-up" Mascot are quite unobtainable, I swear!
