I've always been a Makita and dewalt guy, however after some let downs I'm going more for Makita. I like this kits specs but I'm really concerned by the number of smoking 887 impact drivers. My old (made in Germany) dewalt tools never missed a beat, and to be honest have never been let down by a Makita tool, they've always lasted really well.
Hi 👋🏽 Thanks for another great video. I'm a British guy, but live in Texas where DeWalt somehow gets away with calling these tools 20V even though they put out 18V... That looks like a great kit - I have the previous version of this kit, the DCD795 Hammerdrill/ driver and DCD886 impact driver. The specs sound very similar, only difference i can see is the light. Mine doesn't have a switch, it just illuminates when you pull the trigger ( and stays on for 20 secs when released) I've had them for a couple of years, they're running great and have never let me down. £450 sounds pretty expensive though, that's $640 - i got my set for $240, and like I said, they're pretty much identical except for the LED "upgrade" I'm guessing the rest of the cost is for the Tough case, which granted, is very nice - Mine just came in a canvas "Contractors Bag".... Thanks again for the great videos, I've been a subscriber for a couple of years 👍🏼
I got the same kit but I'm not too happy with the amount of chuck wobble on the impact driver , I can live with it because the impact lights are really good , no shadow Apart from that , it's a brilliant kit
you do good reviews. i have a lot of the 20v Dewalt and love them all. if you haven't seen the cordless miter saw that fits these batteries you should check it out. I just bought it a week ago and it was dead on out of box. typical Dewalt quality.
bought this set because of this clip, insane speed and power impact driver. What for are yellow handles on the top of the case? What bit set you would suggest?
The yellow clips are for clipping the tool box to other Dewalt system boxes. I normally buy Wera or Wiha bits as they are superb- fave.co/2sZ4xd3 fave.co/2tyncJF Thanks for the comment, I hope you get years of use from the set ;-)
Thanks for the thorough review. If possible, please disclose your financial relationship with Dewalt. Did you pay full price for the kit? Were you paid for the review? Etc. Full disclosure will make your reviews even more valuable to your audience!
+vvtubevvv I got sent the kit to test and review for Dewalt. They have never paid me any money for any review (neither has any other company either).I'll gladly review any tools/power tools if the manufacturers or retailers send them to me. It is much better than me having to buy them to review. Not everything makes it onto the channel though, some stuff goes in the bin ;-)
has dewalt sorted the quality control issues with their badly made chucks that have really bad chuck wobble . i went through 8 replacements of the dewalt flagship drills and all had chuck wobble . i purchased the makita dhp481 which has a japanese chuck and runs perfect with no wobble
+tredstone I have never had that problem with any Dewalt drill yet. The chucks that you had problems with, were they plastic chucks or all metal? I have always found plastic covered chucks to be far inferior on any brand of drill.
+Ultimate Handyman yes they were metal chucks and i think it was the dewalt 995 drills that i had no luck with . i did buy the cheaper dewalt 775 and that did not spin true neither . my makita dhp481 runs perfectly with no wobble . i always compare any drill to my 20 year old corded bosch, this was a time when they were made in switzerland with incredible precision, the chuck spins absolutely perfect .they don't make them like that anymore . i used the bosch everyday for 17 years and it still drills like new today . about 10 years ago i dropped it from the top of a terraced house with no damage to it at all and works perfectly .
Nice review. I decided to go with the Milwaukee system and so far so good but had these been out 2 months ago it might have been a tougher decision. Love the storage box though.
i have an idea, take out the tools, put in a newspaper, put box out in the worst rain of the week for a couple of days and see how it fairs! (or hose it down!) that is sure one good box though, as handy as the old makita metal ones (we used to love them as they had room for bits and never broke)
+jusb1066 Wayne Burgess suggested doing something very similar. I just bought 4 of the larger Dewalt Tough system cases from ebay, which I'll review when I get time ;-) The cases are brilliant! Thanks for the comment
what are the cycle life of the new batteries? I know they have different cells than the old nano phosphate li-ion which were suppose to be 2000 cycles but i can't find it anywhere on dewalts website.
Does the batteries wobble on this one? I brought a combi and impact and when you shake the drill the batteries actually move and wobble. Surely this can’t be normal?
Ultimate Handyman thanks for the reply I took my dewalt twin pack back to toolstation and all batteries on there dewalt drills wobble or shake. I was shocked at this as it just feels cheap and abit cheap even though they ain’t
I have no doubt these are excellent tools, but did i spot a "Made In PRC" on one of them in your earlier video? I know most of them are Czech Rep made, are they moving over to china?
+animal79thecat I'm not sure about these but the battery USB adapter is made in the PRC. Having said that they do make some good gear now! Thanks for the comment ;-)

Do you have any more power tools that are compatible with Dewalt or Makita batteries? Some people don't like Dewalt and some don't like Makita. I'd just go for the best deal ;-)
I'd get Dewalt as I have had their cordless tools for over a decade without any issues. I've just looked at the Makita and it looks like it has a plastic covered chuck, I always prefer full metal chucks to plastic covered ones as they are normally much better quality. But Dewalt also make a brushless 18v with a plastic covered chuck. Do you know the model number of the Dewalt that you are looking at ?
Makita DTD154RT1J 18v LXT Brushless Impact Driver 5.0Ah Kit its a new model just out at £249 plus 3 year warranty on product including battery has metal chuck . the Dewalt DCF887 brushless was other but i am thinking Makita as many tests on youtube comes up tops . maybe not much in either
Makita DTD154RT1J 18v LXT Brushless Impact Driver 5.0Ah Kit comes with 3year warranty on registration , £249.00 its the new model for 2017 . nothing much in either to be fair . its full metal chuck l on it also
You can buy the cases separately- ruclips.net/video/KtMt_I7mbTA/видео.html But you would need the correct insert for it as well! Thanks for the comment

My makita drill set needed 2 repairs in one year so I'm done with them personally

Everything is expensive in the uk. Thanks for subscribing and thanks for the comment ;-)
Very good description and a lot of details, very pleased. Thank you very much for the effort and time spending on this !!! Respect
I'm glad you like the video ;-)

Quality kit and brilliant storage in the lid of the box too. 👍

I'm sure someone else said that about the impact driver!
I love my kit, it's great.

I have always been a makita guy, but Dewalt have steeped up their game lately.
+Michael Tricker Absolutely, This is a real game changer! Thanks for the comment ;-)

I have loads of Dewalt gear and have never had a problem.
Perhaps the 20v stuff is made differently!

The tough system boxes are brilliant. I just bought 4 from eBay a few days back. Thanks for the comment.

Nice tools and the case is great too.
Absolutely. Thanks for the comment 😉
I hear they are bringing out the DCD996 this month? Some American reviews up already...
+animal79thecat
I think they often release new tools state side first. That looks like an awesome piece of kit ;-)
Thanks for the comment
Can’t find this kit with the toughsystem storage box anywhere?
They seem to have changed it to Tstack boxes now, not sure why they have done that!
Thats a solid kit
+MegaMetinMetin
Absolutely. Thanks for the comment ;-)
is that the new tough case radio behind ? when you reviewing that

Yes it is, I'll try and do it in the next few days ;-)

I'm not sure, but I have some Dewalt Li-ion batteries that are over 8 years old and still going strong!
Thanks for the comment
I will have a look at price as this looks a great package.
+cheechU38K The cheapest I have seen it is £450 on ebay- fave.co/1oZGlRl

Does the batteries wobble on this one? I brought a combi and impact and when you shake the drill the batteries actually move and wobble. Surely this can’t be normal?
That does not sound right. The batteries on my tools do not move at all, once they are on the machine.
Thanks for the comment 👍
Ultimate Handyman thanks for the reply I took my dewalt twin pack back to toolstation and all batteries on there dewalt drills wobble or shake. I was shocked at this as it just feels cheap and abit cheap even though they ain’t
Is that eBay link right?, appears to point to a dck255p2 not the dck266p2 (that's listed as £450) - what's the difference?
+Ian 50
No, sorry. I have linked to the incorrect item. I'll edit it now- fave.co/1oZGlRl
Thanks for letting me know ;-)
I love everything about this kit. Is the UK the only place its available? Any available in the U.S.?
This is an excellent kit, I'm sure a similar kit will be available in the U.S.
Thanks for the comment
The closet I have found so far is one that comes with what appears to be the same 2 drills but 1.5ah batteries and a very basic case.
The 1.5AH batteries are not much good for any serious use, I'd wait till the 5AH kits are available.
Thanks for the comment
Are you going to buy the new cordless sds drill
+Keelin Black Probably not as this machine is pretty good on masonry and I do have the Dewalt XRP SDS drill still. Thanks for the comment ;-)
Hi. Do you know what the metal hook on the back of the box is for?
Thanks
It might be to hook them onto the trolley (I don't have the trolley, so I'm not sure)
Thanks for the comment 👍

Why Dewalt, bosch and some others motor's central axis turns eccentric but in Hilti is in line straight ???
I have no idea, but from what I have seen from Hilti - it is normally very good gear!
Thanks for the comment 👍🏼
if they are bushless could they theoretically drill under water
I would not like to try it ;-)
maybe not with all the extra microchips inside
