My girlfriend is was a SPC (Specialist) in the New York Army National Guard, while she was studying at NYU. She was given a medical discharge after nearly 4 years in the National Guard. While she doesn't regret joining the National Guard, she was glad she was discharged as she found it difficult to stay while serving as well.
@Captain Of Numenor To my understanding, it was 100 per cent to $250 per semester hour and 16 semester hours annually, not going past $4000 or $4500 per year.
@Eric Hughes you got reading issue, brother. better restart elementry school. I bet most people know how to read a full sentence instead of interpreting it partially.
Go to nationalguard.com and click the "Get Started" button in the top left-hand corner. Enter as much information as you can. A recruiter who works in your area will be in contact with you via phone or text. They will be the best resource to give you the facts about joining. In addition, they can determine if you meet the basic eligibility requirements to serve. Best of luck!
It’s 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks in the summer unless you get deployed. I’m right on the verge of joining the guard but I want to focus college and not be deployed all the time. Whoever sees this please provide input on how often deployment is if it should be a concern for someone that wants to do this more so for college then anything
I heard from another guy's video that in part of your contract you can bargain for "immunity" from deploying while you're in college, so like if you still have 3 years of college in your contract it can say that you won't deploy for those 3 years
If the Army people don't like our majors, then they would hardly consider us for their group. It's like applying for openings at any company. The competition is always tough.
Quick Question. im interested in joining the Army National Guard (SF) while being a college student. I understand there is a long road to becoming SF and maintaining quals, however, after all of that, is it possible to be a full time college student and SF? or is that an unrealistic combination? Im trying to manage unrealistic expectations/goals and streamline things. What is your opinion?
I was wondering the same thing, from what I was able to find out your military duties come first no matter what. You have to put your schooling on hold and hope your instructors are understanding and you can catch up on past work later.
OK , WARNING " Free Tuition At State Colleges" Means You Can Take A Course For Free, BUT ONLY If You Are Taking An Empty Seat In An Unfilled Course. So A Lot Basic Required Courses That Everyone Has To Take ? Might End Up Costing ( ALWAYS BUDGET EXTRA $$$)

Always make sure you check each state's educational benefits to see what you are entitled to.
Depends on the state. In my state NJ guardsmen get a tuition waiver each semester that waived the tuition and you can sign up for classes at anytime.

Hey
You do know they have ROTC right? 🤦♂️
I know some friends that do rotc while in the National guards.
not all colleges offer it. and not everyone gets scholarships to go to school
Is that a good thing if you want to do college and is interested in the air national guard?
@@Nick-ig4fq yes
Not everyone wants to commission as an officer. And when you’re in ROTC you’re not ACTUALLY in the Army so it’s not the same
