Why am I only seeing this video now, 4 years after you posted it?! I'm persistent in my searches for more quirky and slightly less mainstream and obvious things to see, do and eat in Kyoto and get nothing for my troubles but a cascade of thumbnails showing me shrine after shrine after shrine...with the occasional bamboo forest and matcha ice cream shop thrown in to break it up. Your flea market video is exactly what I've been hoping to find. I'm genuinely puzzled why it never came up in the search algorithm until tonight, hmmmm. And I'm even more determined to go to Kyoto myself in 2022 to see if there really is nothing to do but visit pretty shrines and temples-- I refuse to believe the generic vloggers of the world, ha ;) I can always find incredibly strange, hidden, kitsch and seasonal wonders in every place I visit and I will most definitely start with flea, antique and craft markets as shown here. Thank you so much for this video, it's more appreciated than you can know. :)
Lovely. Love this. Admittedly, I'm excited for plastic, plushies of the cities but now I long to connect with (and support $$) the makers of these special goods. Everyone seems so pleasant, too. My family would much more appreciate items (and stories) from markets such as this.
@@wherenextjapan Best advice ever, especially if you're hunting for rarities like vintage and antique clothing etc. And if the market is in Autumn then the bonus you get for making the effort to brave the cold and drizzle is that the colours of the leaves are more saturated in colour after the rain so the inclement weather has a real upside as it makes for exceptionally gorgeous photos. Bonus reward for venturing outdoors! :)
Very nice. Thanks, for I would never be so happy to see that!

Excellent video! Makes me want to visit that market! Maybe I'll go next month :)
Please do! Belinda recommends rainy days because there tend to be less people, so fingers crossed and pack and umbrella :P

Very well filmed and edited. I like her descriptions. Was this filmed in winter?
It was in late March, and I had just pulled my hamstring, so it was not the most fun shoot. But I love hanging out with Belinda, so it was worth it.
