To be fair, Knuckles *did* block Sage's laser while he was "half-ghost", as he put it, so I don't think them bashing the Starfall Island bots in that exact same state is hard to believe. I think Sage and the Starfall Island bots exist in both the real world and cyberspace at the same time, which is probably why Amy, Tails, and Knux can fight them, they probably just didn't realize they could do so before the events of this update.
