Haha btw your pronounciation of my name is by far the most accurate of any
non-Indian you pronounced my first name perfectly but you pronounced my surname like SAIni it's more like sa as in sat , I is silent and ni as in night
Btw thanks a lot for making this as you know I really don't comment much but your underated videos are an exception
I hope the best for your channel and health thank you

this is simply not true, applied mathematics is equivalently as proof heavy as pure mathematics, the difference is that applied mathematics focuses more on topics such as numerical analysis, PDE, probability / measure theory, etc. applied mathematics is completeley proof based similar to pure math. pure math simply is meant for people who want to become academics for the most part, and focuses more on the abstract algebra ish side of mathematics compared to applied mathematics. applied math focuses on the subtopics in mathematics which are more applicable to engineering, etc. if you wanted to get a degree without proofs than that would me more like a phsics or engineering degree. also, applied mathematics is significantly more employable after undergrad. the only reason anyone should get a pure mathematics degree is if they want to become a professor. for litteraly any other career path applied mathematics is significantly better.

@@aero-mk9ld thanks for holding me accountable! Of course all math is proof-based (I often tell my students it’s not hocus pocus), but when it comes to what is required of students in each degree path, a math degree requires more courses that are just proof after proof (like abstract algebra, as you mentioned). The difference I see is proofs as support vs proofs as explicit content.
I’m also talking specifically about an undergrad degree in Mathematics vs Applied Mathematics. Perhaps things are different for advanced degrees.

Yes I agree with many of your points
But here in India it's quite different it's based on the stream you choose ( stream btw is a bunch of subjects you have to choose)
      There are 3 major streams
      Science
      Commerce
      Arts/humanities
And core maths is MOSTLY offered to the one who choose science and are aspiring to be an engineer i believe you have heard of the collage IIT the students graduating from them are the ones who migrate from India to usa and other places
I am a commerce student and mostly we are not allowed to choose in maths i had to take permission from the principal choose applied maths as here almost no one chooses maths
My whole town with many schools had in total 6 applied maths students with my school having 2 thats me and my friend.
Here in India it hurts me to say applied maths gives you almost no benefit as compared to core maths
      Hope it's helps!!

Wow I’m learning a lot through making this video and reading the comments. It’s fascinating how different things are depending on where in the world you’re studying and then seeking employment.
