100 series is the absolute sweet spot
100 series is the absolute sweet spot, modern enough to be comfortable and reliable, with CAN bus and actually useful safety features like airbags and ABS, while being old enough that it has none of the annoying idiotic safety junk they stick in cars these days. I love my UZJ100R. Would absolutely love a UZJ100W with diff locks and the auto matic rear vents. Aussies got POV spec UZJ100's, but I'm still very happy with mine.

100 series is ISF gasoline, 101 series is ISF diesel, 105 is the solid axle off-road version (basically a 100 body on a 80 frame).
That's right! In Japan modification 100 means gasoline (UZJ100W with 2UZ-FE), 101 means diesel engine (HDJ101K with 1HD-FTE). It's like JDM 80 series Land Cruisers, modification 80 means gasoline (FJ/FZJ80G with 3F-E/1FZ-FE), 81 means diesel (HZJ81V with n/a diesel engine 1HZ or HDJ81V with turbo-diesel 1HD-T/FT).
Isn't the 1 for the 81 and 101 more of a Japanese market designator?

I've seen this one on several web pages listed for sale. Its awesome that it ended up at PCA! I absolutely love my FzJ80 but I would sell it for a 101 like that in a split second ❤

Nice one. I just got one from auction with 60000km. Same situation where it was 800 number to cheat the tax and what not lol I hope it comes with cool bed/table like this one.

Funny the hood came down, I've noticed Toyota hood struts from this time don't seem to last more than 15-20 years. All three Toyotas I have had from this time period (97, 00, 03) all had them failing and the hood needs to be propped up to not come crashing down.
Do you know if this already sold? Did it go to a dealer or private buyer?
