Catarina made her decision to represent the US at a very young age which makes this all come full circle. Imagine waiting years for something you don’t really have control over. She could have stalled, had an life injury or a number of other living changing situations. Yet she persevered guided by her loyalty to the nation who give her an opportunity and her abilities on the field. You’re now part of the greatest women’s team in the world Cat. You get to walk and live in the shadows of giants. You will no doubt create a name for yourself that will rival any of those greats who’ve worn the red, white, and blue. Bravo 👏

I'm filled with so much joy when I see her play. She's amazing and her story is what America should be about. Congrats Catarina!! The USWNT is so incredibly impactful and trendsetting in the shaping of women's sports. They are the best and have a long tradition of talent and success that will hopefully continue for a long time. Go USWNT! One of few shining examples of American exceptionalism.
What an exiting moment when she ran finally on the pitch wearing the US jersey with her name on the back. It was a very special moment for her career and I think that that's just the beginning of a beautiful and successful sport story. I really admire her perseverance duting those years she never stop beliving and working really hard for realize her big dream, be a member of the greatest women's soccer nactional team in the world. Now she realize this dream and I believe that everybody could learn a lot from this young star. 🇺🇸⚽
I’ve been following her journey for over two years and she is truly such a remarkable player. Mark my word, she will be the best in the world one day.

@@I_Have_The_Most_Japanese_Music she played in the midfield at Stanford for a couple of seasons but USWNT is pretty saturated with young, promising midfielders - so I reckon with the departure of some of the vets (Lloyd, Rapinoe, Press, Heath, Morgan etc.) in the next 5-10 years there'll be a superstar striker spot with her name written all over it. She's versatile and adaptable enough to make any position her own.
@Apple Account s bear in mind that she's only 21 and has not yet played any professional football. Development does take time, but I see a lot of potential there
She coulda gone easy route gone to brazil and be a star right away, but wanted to fight for a spot on the most badass team in the country... man cutting down to 18 is scary

Easy Route? Do you have Any clue how hard it is for women in countries like Brasil to make it in the sport? The "easy" route was coming to the USA.
@@adiliasousa6276 I think he meant Brasil being the “easy route” once she had already developed into the player she is today. Like if she came to the US, played at Stanford and then decided she wanted to represent Brasil at the senior level. At that point it would’ve been easier to make the Seleção Feminina than the USWNT.

i was sitting behind the goal 1st half last night n it took literally a couple minutes into the game and she stood out ...the future at fwd looks very bright for the US ...cant wait to see this team at full strength ...

@@elisaiah1 I watched her plays in Columbia games. Yes she is very likely in the pantheon of Mia and Wambach.
Cat is one heck of a player and will only get better in her game. The team just gets deeper and deeper!
Plus she can play forward something we need with most of of starting line up front in their 30s. She’s highly technical and an amazing 3 dimensional player.

@Apple Account s If you don't think she's earned at least this much, I don't know what to tell you. It's short-sighted at the very least. We'll see if she makes it onto the Olympic roster, but either way, she's good on the pitch and certainly justifies her presence at training camp.

One thing about being a “True” American is that we don’t see the race of a player. They are just players who we love, stand behind and support through thick and thin. Not Make all the Caucasian’s, latinas, Africans, Asians and so on proud. No matter their race! They ALL make me proud.

If she was born in the US, she may not have had the opportunity to even pursue soccer. It's such a white and suburban sport in the US, it excludes a lot of Black and brown kids from the start. Sad to think how many kids don't even get the chance.

I’m brazilian and i’m very proud of her. Our country doesn’t value women soccer, she is right to choose one that give her the value that she deserves. Hope that this makes our country ashamed of how we treat girls that likes soccer and realize the talent that we are losing. Go USWNT ❤️🇧🇷🇺🇸
@@luv3351 I’m glad you’re saying this because Cat made her decision at a really young age and not done with malaise or contempt for the Brazilian people. I hope she’s not subjected to taunting and abuse when the US plays Brazil.
This all happen a decade ago, I hope the 🇧🇷 federation invest in their young players because there are many girls who want to play soccer in a country that values it more (only for men and boys) then anywhere in the world.
@@luv3351 You're Brazilian however its like everyone that gets a ticket in is taught to deny or even hate where they came from although the one's initiating control are foreigners themselves. This is not about race and country but the survival of a people that are being driven to non-existent by society and the law it governs. Its unfortunate the twist and turns life take undeserving towards those who are truly inspired to spread the true benefits of diversity. Hope this makes sense peace...

Don’t know why the Brazilian community is being so negative towards her decision of choosing the US over Brazil when you guys should be mad at the Brazilian federation for not showing any serious interest in Catarina to begin with.

If Brazil really cared about Catarina they would have made contact with her while she was still in Brazil and they didn’t, it’s pretty obvious they didn’t care about her at all. Even with Catarina coming over to the US at the age of 12 wouldn’t impede Brazil from calling her up to the senior team at the age of 16 or 17 if they really wanted to.
Se o Brasil realmente se importasse com Catarina, eles teriam feito contato com ela enquanto ela ainda estava no Brasil e não, é bastante óbvio que eles não se importavam com ela. Mesmo com Catarina vindo para os EUA aos 12 anos, isso não impediria o Brasil de convocá-la para a equipe principal aos 16 ou 17 anos, se eles realmente quisessem.

It's a speach that appeals to the need of being humble and the guilt, for having "abandoned" their own. And guilt, precisely adjusted to us by religion, to manipulate us via feelings. The source of happiness is not in the roots: it is important to know where you came from, but more important is to know where you are going to. And when she looks back she's sure: there's no regret for her choices in the past

The US women’s team finally is getting a diversity of races, they had the common only American look, they needed a little Latin spice so happy to see the mix starting to happen 💕
