Anyone else notice the bumble bee on the fuzzy thing during the intro. Glad a bee sting was not added to the fall. Great, great pet wood! TY
LOL, I totally didn't notice the bumblebee until Tom Burleigh pointed it out - no sting was imminent.
I just love the pet wood you find. Its very rare here and usually dull tan.
Awww. Is it still dull tan if you wet it or tumble it? I love pet wood too. :)
Love your channel
Thanks, and thanks for joining me! :)
I want to see what's inside that last rock myself, it looked very interesting.😁👍👍👍👍👍
Cutting it soon. :)
Aw, such a cute bee trying to find the nectar in your Microphone in the intro sequence, I hope it didn't sting you or get harmed when you noticed it. Lovely video too.
Hi Tom, we share some you tube videos!
LOL, Tom, I did not even notice that cute little bee - even while editing the video! Glad you pointed her out. She apparently escaped unharmed, as did I.
It sure is pretty out there. What mic setup are you using with your gopro?
I was using my phone - couldn’t find the GoPro and wanted to leave. 😊
katy your works are beautiful and i love your channel.
From Brasil
Obrigada. :)
My wife also looks forward to watching your videos. She said if you lived here you all could be friends.
😊 Glad to hear it!
We really like how you show the clean rock after finding it instead of always having to wait until the end to see it. Makes it easier to follow. Thank you. We look forward to your next adventure.
Thanks! It's a little bit of a pain in editing, but I like it too. Thanks for watching...
Thanks for taking us along for the adventure.
Thanks for coming along!
Oh the hazards of rock hounding. I’ve taken a swim and lost my flip flops rock hounding.
Kate, looks like your " dunk " was well worth it! Beautiful finds!!!
It really was. The previous day was in the mid 90s, so would have been a little more refreshing - but as long as I didn't wreck my phone, it was all good. :)
Oh man if the mud sucked your shoes off and took them under to never be seen again years and years from now investigating the site will know you escaped but WHAT were you doing out there?! Hopefully the dunking wasn't too bad just a bit of cooling off. Some nice finds on your adventure! You've sacrificed to the river so maybe it will give you some very awesome agate to find 😄😉
I think that's true! The mud was next to a river bank - the silt gets suspended in the water, so the mud gets really deep. I knew it would be muddy, but O.O! It's ok, though - the only thing I was in danger of was getting very dirty. When the river drops, I might try to retrieve them - I know exactly where they are. And yes, perhaps the sacrifice will be enough to appease the river.
Wow, I see an ammolite hiding 👀 in that rock. Fossils are very interesting....
I thought that big yellow nobbly jasper was a gold nuggest for a second...
I wrote a comment to Kate and then scrolled down a little to hit the comment button and apparently we both liked the "big knobbly " rock lol I used the same two words in my description lol.
If that was a gold nugget, I'd be planning my retirement...
It did not surprise me one bit that after getting "dipped" in the river you just kept on looking for rocks lol. Perhaps next time you can take your swim after you loose your shoes lol. Can't wait to see what is inside a couple of the rocks you found today ( the big yellow knobbly one for starters). Sorry I missed you live but I enjoyed the hunt none the less :)
That big yellow nobbly one is jasper - it probably looks very much the same inside as out. I'm considering listing it on my Etsy store, because a number of people seemed enthused about it.
@@KatyDidRocks I think that is a great idea because the unusual and unique are sought after. Plus lots of others can't travel and getting a little piece of Montana in the mail would be really neat :)
Such beautiful finds!
Thank you - I was excited.
Süper taşlar buldunuz kolay gelsin Türkiye den selamlar
teşekkür ederim
@5:44 That’s a perfect suseki stone. AND I WAS THE 400th like! Yay me!🤣🤭
Hurray!
Beautiful agates, and loves the jaspers!!! Thanks for sharing with us!! You love the water!!!
I do! The river isn't terribly cold, and I am a good swimmer, so it was just a little surprise when I fell in. :D
You're just so great!
:D Well.. thanks!
Thanks, Kate!
Thanks for joining me!
Gotta love that Jasper, nice video katy
That jasper was pretty interesting, for sure. Thanks, James.
Beautiful rocks! Love your videos and adventures. Sorry about that unexpected dip. 😂
It's only water! :D It was a great day.
Awesome day! Thank you. 🥰
Thanks for joining me! :D
Nothing like a nice refreshing swim LOL.Some nice finds. looking to see a couple of those cut. Havagudun Kate.
Thanks, ED - it was fun.
Omg you had to walk back bear footed
The only really bad part was crossing the railroad tracks, which are laid on sharp rocks. 😂
More beautiful finds especially the petrified wood! Can never have too much of that! Stay well! Thank you for sharing!
Thank you, Elizabeth. :)
Can't hunt fossils wearing sunglasses 😎. They take the shine away
It's amazing how much difference there is.
Agates are the same.
So fun! Loved all your videos 👍
Thanks, Sherry!
Chunky! Chunky! Chunky! I think repeating it three times deflects it from meaning labeling yourself. Plus, your close ups have gotten much better. Looking forward to seeing them sliced.
Hmmm, I'll have to think about the chunky repetitions. :D Thanks for watching...
Awesome finds👍 Geez your going well...sandals one day a dip next. Glad see you toughed it out. Was certainly worth it.😊
Lol, it was all one complicated adventure - but I agree, worth it!
Hi everyone, it's always a pleasure to follow your unexpected adventures. thank you for everything
Thank you for joining me.
Very pretty rocks. Sorry the mud ate your shoes 😵
Awww, it's ok - WORTH IT!
The things we do for beautiful rocks xx cheer kate xx love the adventures u take us on xx
:D I was so happy when I finished this one! It was a real adventure, for sure.
Sorry you got wet, but you found lots of cool stuff!
:) I did! Like I said - WORTH IT.
Another great Montana outing. Waters dropping really fast here in Laurel. Hey Katy if you get a chance, Google the name Bridger Walker. Little guy did a heroic thing, but he's a rock hound also. I sent him some rocks, but let the rock hounding community know of him please
:) It really was pretty amazing - I saw him on FB! Little guy is going to get so many rocks he can build a house.
Sorry the river ate your shoes. You did end up finding some nice rocks though.
:D It's ok - I may get them back when the river drops. It was fun.
Great haul! You found some real beauties. Bummer about your shoes, tho. I'm glad you made it out! Can't wait to see some of these cut open. Thanks for sharing!
:'D It was a small price to pay for finally finding some beauties. Thanks for joining me!
Katy I hope you managed to rescue your shoes, after climbing the bank and getting covered in mud maybe take another swim.
Some more great looking rocks. Keep Safe & Keep Rockin
I may go back eventually - but that mud was DEEP. The worst part was hiking barefoot back to the car - I had to cross railroad tracks laid on a raised bed of rough rocks.
When I saw that lined rock about a minute and a half in, I thought, "Wow, that looks like some kind of septarian!"
:) It's cool, right?
Great video!
Thanks!
so many pretty rocks!! seems very fitting with this episode Katy..Thanks once again for sharing your beautiful place on earth with us..
:) Thanks for coming along.
That's how I rockhound rivers out here in Oregon...
Great video and scored some beauties Katy...
LOL, do you mean losing your shoes and crawling in the mud??
@@KatyDidRocks , hahahagahaha, we have all done that... Well some of us...😂😂😉
each pebble/rock that caught my eye you reached for lol
They're all so BEAUTIFUL!
having just started with rock hounding by proxy, am I the only one who sees faces and animals in the rocks? things that can be carved into them?
Fun fact - seeing faces in things is called "pareidolia." :)
I think the river gods decided that the price for today was a dunking and your shoes! I think you came out ahead though.
:D It definitely was a day for sacrifice - but I agree, it was worth it.
So much fun. I'm so glad it wasn't cold out and being wet from neck to toes worked well to clean off your finds too. What you found this day was definitely worth the mud and impromptu dunk. Mud covered thumbs up had me laughing with you. Fantastic Katy thank you.
LOL, I didn't get a very good picture of how caked in mud my legs and feet were, but believe me, it required quite a bit of washing before I dared get into the car.
I watched this video with my grandson who will be 4 next week he really liked Kava because he has three little dogs at home. He also liked the pretty rocks you found and talked about them as you picked them up and now wants to watch another one of your videos I think he is hooked.
That is so sweet! Thank you so much for sharing that story with me. :)
How long does it take for the wood to be petrfied???
Some of the petrified wood is MILLIONS of years old. Possibly living trees when dinosaurs walked the earth! They can date the petrified wood somehow but the researchers that do it have labs available to them to do it, for us rockhounding nuts out of our price range.
SareJen is right - although it doesn't NECESSARILY take millions of years, much of the wood is VERY old. I have a video about how it's made: ruclips.net/video/TwJtSVpCxc8/видео.html
At least you fell in on a nice day! And at least the water broke your fall; when I fall it’s always on rocks or cement! That large piece of agatized wood is gorgeous! Here’s a question...any tricks of the trade when you can’t tell if it’s pet wood or just a rock? I find smaller pieces of petrified wood and sometimes it’s really hard to tell the difference.
Petrified wood generally has a very clear grain running lengthwise along the rock. There are sedimentary rocks that look an awful lot like petwood, but you can tell the difference by looking at the end. Sedimentary rocks will have the same bands running across the top, whereas petrified wood will look different.
KatyDid thanks so much for the help!
So much fun watching you. I find myself in mud all the time too!
Hey, mud is just ground up rocks, right! 😁
@@KatyDidRocks definately!
So jealous of what u are doin , thats my dream... anyway thank u for sharing all ur beautiful videos.. 🙏😍🌄❤️
❤️ Thank you for joining me. I hope you get to live your dream soon.
