I love the energy in this song :) I always feel bad for the Gloop family in both the West End and Broadway shows. They're a pretty sweet family, they just enjoy eating a ton. They joke with each other about their appetites, but there's a definite love there. So for them to have Augustus taken so violently is pretty damn sad, if you really give it some thought. They seem to be the highlight of the entire production, too, because many have commented on what fun the Gloops are in the Broadway production.
F. Michael is phenomenal in this number. A total show stopper in my eyes, especially considering he is a fully grown man singing a song written for a child. That ending note on Augustus' line was originally Mrs Gloop's in the London Score, but I like the idea of Augustus ending on a belter and that note is no joke. F. Michael, Michael Wartella, Trista Dollison and Emma Pfaeffle really do nail these roles, proving that anybody can play anything they want in theatre. Age, race and gender is nothing to do with it!
I've been listening to some of the other songs from the Broadway version..... they made Veruca Russian. Russian. Also, Christian Borle doesn't hold a candle to Douglas Hodge.
Jenson Steele You were a very good Augustus bc I came all the way from NY to see the show in London and I already saw this production twice and all the kids except charlie are played by adults and it's HILARIOUS it's so good and this Augustus is really good too
Mister Fabulous the music is from the Broadway version. the photo was something the creator of this video found online. trust me. this production ain't cheap.

Well, Augustus is not only gluttonous. He's also proud and vain.

I sang the song on the Original London album, I didn't like the lyric change at the beginning but i thought they did pretty OK.

The Broadway theatre is smaller than the one they were in in London
