- A protest in Sunderland spiralled into a night of "criminal thuggery" as a police station was set on fire and objects were hurled at officers.
Eight people were arrested for offences ranging from violent disorder to burglary following riots sparked by the Southport stabbings.
Three police officers were hospitalised with injuries, two of whom required further treatment.
The chaos erupted in Keel Square, where police faced a barrage of projectiles while trying to control a crowd of several hundred protesters.
With a helicopter circling overhead, young men threw stones at officers, chanting "whose streets? Our streets."
Protests are expected in Blackburn, Blackpool, Bolton, Bristol, Cardiff, Doncaster, Glasgow, Hanley, High Wycombe, Hull, Liverpool, Leeds, Leicester, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Preston, St Helens, Stoke-on-Trent, Swindon, and Wrexham.

Apologies for repeating other threads. I'm 65, relatively well-educated, well-travelled, have raised two great kids and never knowingly harmed anyone. BUT because i'm concerned about uncontrolled ILLEGAL migration, grooming gangs, terror attacks and the islamification of our country I'm labelled "far-right" by Starmer, Cooper and the rest of the sneering left. Why? Because it's easy and no one will shout "racist" at them. Two-tier had the chance to tell the British public that he understood and shared their concerns but it was much easier to shout "far-right". The man is a disgrace. My late father, a Yorkshire coal miner used to vote labour in the 50's and 60's and would be ashamed to be associated with this lot now. Speaking of fear, I feared travelling on the tube for months after the 7/7 bombings. I feared going into London after the Borough Market stabbings. This is all about class. Let’s be honest here, the refugee welcome crowd from the leafy liberal suburbs only see multiculturalism at their local GP or restaurant. They do not have hotels full of young men around every corner from where they live. They don’t have to worry about hospital appointments, housing, or their kids going to overcrowded schools. They are just fine. It’s the rest of us that are the problem.
Brits don’t seem to get the health care promised. When I was there I was saddened by how many unhealthy people I saw and bad teeth to boot. Same here but our health care system is even worse if you don’t have a job or get Medicare. Meaning healthcare is only for those with resources. There is green card but you have to be penniless.
My heart and prayers go out to the everyday working class British people that have finally had enough of a two tier policing system and the loss of the British traditions and values.

I'm an old lady, always worked hard, saved for my retirement, paid all my taxes and assisted my children where necessary, played by the rules and treated people as I would wish to be treated myself. Live and let live has always been a factor in my view of people but now I realise that I ,too, am 'far right' because I don't like seeing my country in the grip of factions who do not wish my country well. Everyone else I know in my immediate environment feels like me other than some super affluent fashionably lefty ladies who have limited experience of life.
