USS Discovery-A (3189) - Detailed Breakdown

Time for our full breakdown and comparison of all the changes made to Discovery in episode 6 of Season 3. The NCC-1031-A has a lot of differences when compared to the original design. Most of which aren’t apparent on first glance. So join us as we compare side by side to show you all of them. Also for those wondering why it’s the A now for only a refit. Well a couple of reasons we think. Firstly - it’s from the past, and time travel tech is illegal now. So according to official Starfleet records the Discovery was listed as destroyed in 2258. So to avoid any hassles. This is a new ship called Discovery so therefore the A (and yes it’s assumed many other ships over the 900 years have had the Discovery name, but not the registry. So it’s fine). And secondly, the new tech that was used in the refit was so much more advanced then Discovery’s original tech that it is essentially a brand new ship with the new upgrades.
