These Video's are helping with CMCIS 154 so much during this pandemic. The course material just doesn't seem to give the appropriate examples for me to understand. Thank you.
Hi Dan, Thank you so much for the packet tracer lab, I have no words to express my gratitude I currently upgraded my PT to Version 7.2 my issue is when I configure the tunnel mode to IP, it automatically picks IPV6IP for some reason, for the lab to work I have skip tunnel mode configuration and everything works perfectly also I tried using BGP in lieu of static routes and it works fine as well.
At 7:58 , why would it be .6 (the 3rd IP in the /30) as the 4th octet? On the other side (at R1) at 11:31, it was .1 (the 2nd IP in the /30). Why not use the same (either 2nd or 3rd IP in the range)? Why is R1 using the 2nd IP (201.150.200.1) in its /30, but R3 is using the 3rd IP (201.150.200.1) in its /30?
they should have done that before.. I had CCNA, and they didnt' have the tunnel... I went to the business world naked. They should also add VPN site-2-site, most business uses firewall
Hello Dan, first of all thank you for taking the time to create this video. This is by far the best tutorial and explanation on GRE. You're a true professional with a pleasant voice. Would it be possible for you to make the Packet Tracer activity file available again? Or may the configuration that I need to set this lab up? Thanks in advance!
Let's say that the 50 routers between R1 & R3 are connected via BGP since a single ISP won't necessarily provide you a consecutive connectivity with 50 routers. Coming back to your question, just don't care about those 48 routers in between. They will learn the routes that they require in order to make your GRE tunnel work. So config is gonna be the same. Source int, Destination WAN facing ip and GRE mode is all you have to set between the two provider edge routers.
uve probably made a mistake on r1 when write the tunnel destination , it must end on ...200.5 not ...200.6 ,cause on the r3 u write ...200.1, or i dont undrstand smth ? :)
Okay i downloaded the .pct opened it and understood. The ip address on int g0/1 on r3 is ending ...200.6 ,and the ip address of int g0/0 r1 is ending ...200.1 , so no mistake was maded :D
This did not work at all for me... packet tracer is saying that Interface tunnel 0 is not even a command... "Router1(config)#interface tunnel 0 ^ % Invalid input detected at '^' marker." any help? thanks
im in the UK. ??????????? Ive set this topology up exactly and for some reason the Tunnel only shows as Tunnel up/down Ive reset all 3 routers back to factory defaults and only add the specific config to get Tunnel0 up and working but still shows as Tunnel up/down i can however add "tunnel mode gre ip" - successfully on both R1 & R2 routers - although when i do "sh run" command it does not show this extra configuration. not sure whats wrong! ???????????????????
My favorite channel to study CCNA.
me too
Mine too from the very beginning

Nice tutorial for my CCNA exam. Thanks a lot
Thank you for your clear and academic explanation.

Amazing explanation, as always, Mr. Dan

Hi. Excelente explanation ! As a professor I'd like to show your example to my students. Do you agree ?
Thank you. Absolutely!

Thank you!! That was very, very helpful! It worked!!
Hi Dan
thanks for the tutorial.
You are most welcome!
Ok nice but what if I have let say 50 routers between R1 and R3? How I can ensure connectivity between R1 and R3 and then set tunnel?

by the way, your content is good! congratulations!! if you can, please, send a video about GRE+IPSec working togetter
Is L2 tunnel possible in CPT?
Do the Interface Tunnel IP address's should be in the same subnet or not. What if there are two or more routers in between tunnel interface routers.
Hi. May I know when you will be doing a video for IPv6 GRE tunneling? Thanks!
Thanks sir it is very useful video for me .
Amazing, thanks!!
hey bro, link of page is down, and in search for "gre ip" on your blog result in a download link crashed for the zip file, can you fix it?
if we use 2 routers between HQ and remote then how we have to configure that?
great explanation
What are the only configurations I need to do for R2?
Give the interfaces ip addresses. it will have connected routes to R1 & R3 but not to the internal networks. Just how ISPs work
uve probably made a mistake on r1 when write the tunnel destination , it must end on ...200.5 not ...200.6 ,cause on the r3 u write ...200.1, or i dont undrstand smth ? :)

% Invalid input detected at '^' marker."
any help? thanks
***** No "int tun0", hmmm. What version of PT are you using?
The most recent version, 6.1.2 I think it is.
I checked and I'm on version 6.2
You must update the version pf packet tracer.
Thanks for the video. I helps alot.
Is there any show command to verify GRE VPN connection ?

show ip route
show ip interface tunnel
show ip tunnel traffic

@@danscourses thank you much
This helped thank u
