Recently I read a truly terrifying book called “One Second After” by William Forstchen. The premise of the book is that an unknown actor detonates 3 atomic bombs in the atmosphere above the US. Even though the bombs do not cause any physical damage in the ground because of being detonated high in the air, the EMP from the bombs takes out MOST electronic devices and power grids, causing a blackout that lasts for months. You can imagine the chaos that comes from not having electricity for more than 8 months? Civil anarchy. It’s very dark and sobering, this book, because it is a very real possibility. The author of the book did an interview with the Shawn Ryan Podcast. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The power grid scenario right now is what seems the most plausible. Right now according to The meteorologists we are going to be in an extended cold snap for almost half of the country, some places with temperatures and wind chills well below zero. I pray to God that we are power stations have adequate protection. If the power grid was attacked and it took out the entire East Coast for just a couple of weeks in this cold the loss of life and injury would be catastrophic! It’s awesome to have the convenience we have now due to technological advancement. The downside is that millions of people have lost or never even learned basic survival skills that are ancestors had before the age of technology. The other consequence would be that civil unrest would start after a week if that unfortunately you can’t teach survival skills on the fly and we do not have the luxury of time to figure it out. I pray that we avoid these deadly scenarios but I have an uneasy feeling about the current state of things. I am doing the best I can to prepare just in case like the old saying goes better to have it and not need it than to not have it and need it!
Currently sitting in the snow and ice storm with my power going out one to 3 times a day for the past 3 days now. Longest period without was only about 6 hours, so far. Hopefully that quick repair continues. And hopefully if an event does cause mass power outages, they can at least wait until the spring.

Right after 9/11 a TV news program in Phoenix Arizona had checked on how hard to build a dirty bomb. If my memory is correct they found a soil testing instrument called nuclear density meter . It is used by both state and private soils testing labs. They found that over 20 nuclear density gages have been stolen or missing. According to the TV station these missing gages have enough radioactive material to make a dirty bomb that could contaminate one square mile.
There are 4 scenarios where I can see robots realistically being used. 1. Space Travel - A stronger smarter humanoid assistant. 2. Private Security - To protect you or private property 3. The military - drones. 4. Presentation - Presentable doorman for example. I can't see them replacing the waitress at Hooters or Winghouse though lol.

Honestly, an attack on the power grid in the next couple weeks would not surprise me. The U.S. has its power grid separate into 3 East which is everything East of the Mississippi River, West which is everything West of the Mississippi and Texas and parts of Oklahoma run on their own. I’m a firm believer of not putting all your eggs into one basket so each U.S. State should run their own power grid, maybe smaller states like Rhode Island or Delaware can lump in with a neighboring like Jersey and Massachusetts or the Dakotas being much less populated can lump together. That way when China or Russia start feeling froggy, they’ll have to attack 40-50 different power grids to have the same effect of attacking 2 or 3. It’s also in U.S. Nuclear Doctrine that if our power grids are attacked we can respond with nuclear weapons and our nuclear attack subs can receive a launch order without power from any power grids, as all the Armageddon Bunkers the president has at his disposal have top of the line back up generators and that’s if he’s not Airborne on the doomsday plane that has direct messaging with all those Subs. So China and Russia should tread very carefully into these waters as if the U.S. power grid goes down at their hands all those subs would be green lit to launch. And looking at Russia’s population density it would only take a couple hundred missiles tops to wipe the Russian Population from the planet. China would be similar with the majority of their populations being urban big cities. The U.S. has a good portion of its population in rural areas that would be safe from the initial exchanges, but would have to figure out plans to stay safe from fallout.

It make sense to harden the infrastructure (Trump started to do this in his last term) and to prepare yourself of the the possibility to do without for a time. Water, food, heat, medicine, communication. We have had to live in our house for a week without power, which scratched the surface of what it would be like.
Don’t forget that recently Israel coordinated a synchronized mass attack using cellphones. Same thing can be done with any electronically controlled equipment. Cars, planes, drones, personal computers, etc…

Tell that to all the customers and users of technology who don't care to learn how to securely deploy or use it, they want EASE OF USE, which is usually a compromise when discussing security. A change to the nature of humans needs to reverse for this to happen. Promoting robots and robot axis and services that could relieve medium and low-income people of minor chores/responsibility will be our downfall. I watched Homestead. It was decent but I was actually disappointed that the movie is actually just a 2 hour pilot episode for the new tv series on Angel Studios streaming platform.
