@42:00, Mike Rowe says he did not want to put hard work into marriage to make it work; it had to be "given" from the stars. Yet, he teaches and PREACHES the opposite about jobs, which are a reflection of how a man views his marriage: It is a nasty, hard, difficult task that will not come around without constant work and grit!
This man undercuts the essence of what makes hard work and manly jobs worthwhile to promote! Talk about the sorry age we live in that our supposed chads or manly mans have no real foundation of mainlines.
Heck, this is your answer to why young men are no longer in the work force, Mike Rowe.

Mike Rowe DOES have a legacy. I see it every day. I'm an electrician, have been since I graduated high school 16 years ago. I can't count how many times I heard new apprentices come in saying they saw something on dirty jobs, and decided to start applying for any and all trades they could find.
He may not be a father in the genetic sense...but he's definitely been a great Dad for a whole generation of kids who are helping to keep this world running.

Im 38 and have grown in recent years. No kids but I could see young men faltering. I have been a welder, machinist, project manager, earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering. I caught a pod with Mike talking about his foundation and what not, and inspired me to reach out to these, typically single moms, and offered an opportunity to go to job of their choice to try it out. I will walk them through everything if they need it. In my pursuit of the degree I went through classes to teach later in life.
      Mike absolutely has a Legacy

@@cryptic8043 i find in hiring hundreds of young employees with out a successful outcome that none of them have a drive or urge to prove their worth. They say they can do something they show up not knowing how to do said task and no willingness to learn said task or even any gumption to jump in and try and learn said task. Then they fade away not learning a skill or trade but leaving saying they could do that if they wanted or couldn't do it if they tried all while not trying to do said task. Its astonishing to think they will have a hand in steering this country in the future.

@@markginikos3939 It has to do with several variables, but one main one is lack of producing families. Once you have a family, a community to shame you, no amount of B.S will let you get off with not feeding your family.
Mike Rowe fundamentally does not get it. He is getting rich from talking shit on a morally confused generation, who is encouraged to put off families, values, and morals while Mike Rowe has none of his own!
We need to stop listening to people who get paid millions for role playing hard work, and start building apart from them. Otherwise, we are screwed while Mike Rowe keeps getting rich talking shit for a living. And, do not get me started on his sorry as grants for labor jobs that most end up dropping because they do not pay enough to raise a family on.

Mike, “ you put yourself in the other person’s place. If your able, willing & interested in asking questions & seeking to learn WHY they are doing what they are doing…. Then there might be more understanding”. (Sometimes motivations are fear instigated by someone else’s greed.)

I had a really low point when I was a young adult but after hearing Mike's philosophy and personal point of view on the trades I was reinvigorated and once again ambitious about my future as a tradesman/ electrician. Looking back now I feel I made the right choice to "take a bite of the shit sandwich" and can't imagine doing any other job or even think I could have enjoyed doing any other type of work. Along the way I learned multiple trades and I'm genuinely proud/ happy with the path I chose. Something that you can't buy in life is "fulfillment", I was lucky imo. The majority of people settle for the dead-end job just "to pay the bills" then one day they wake up soul crushed and regret everything. Long story longer, I couldn't ever be able to thank Mr. Rowe enough, his words (however simple) greatly altered my view of manual labor/ hard work and the trades in a massive way.

I as an actor for example - if I got the role of my life coming up, I can’t afford to catch covid even if I’m not afraid of it. Some people still got a lot to lose or other considerations to be made that don’t directly relate to being afraid or the usual reasons we suspect.

Worked for a large underground mine in Alaska. Percentage of women, about.5% or less do the mining work. HR, which is 75-100% women love to hire women for these jobs, but the vast majority of women can't do the job, get hurt, or are harassed because they are given special compensation, promotions and exemptions that men aren't in order for the company to say they love women miners.
HR, almost all women, are on the continual hunt for harassment of the women and go out of their way to punish the men, so often it's an Hr versus the miners situation.
In one case where a woman was fired for almost killing a few miners she sued the company and won, under the premise she was promoted too quickly, received no proper training for the higher position and so was not responsible for her actions. So companies see they are screwed if they promote them, screwed if they don't and fined by the government for not hiring women. And we wonder why manufacturing and skills trades are dying off in the US.

Mikes explanation for the hunter fishermen is funny. Trapped here in Alaska for ten years. Didn't know any women who ever were willing or able to do it. There are perhaps some somewhere, but never personally knew any. Trapping and hunting is not just about fulfilling a psychological urge to kill and drag the meat back to the cave. It's a free life and a high quality life. One is outside, even in the extreme cold, maybe out there rolling in four to six foot swells in Southeast Alaska checking traps along shore, it's very hard physically and it takes a person who is mostly an introvert. One is free from people, free from demands of people, and enjoying being your own boss. No employees to whine and complain and babysit.

Built a cabin out by Montague island in the sound a couple summers ago, I love the Prince William Sound. I’ve spent a couple months out there, it’s got to be one of the best places on earth. Fishing, hunting and just exploring the islands, nothing better. I wish more people could experience it, just to be free from all the everyday noise.

I watched both shows and, as a woman, it's just so amazing the power of nature, and the degree to which a good, hard working man will sacrifice his body and his youth to perform thankless jobs that allow our society to function. Things that allow western society to rest comfortably atop their backs, where many of us spit down at them as though we are above them. The reality, though, is that these men lift us up on their shoulders. I'm so grateful for the man I have , he's a wonderful man that works hard, handles his business, and is a great father to our children. The kind of man society was built on that I, for one, very much appreciate. ❤️

Being a father is so amazing. It’s given my life meaning beyond anything I could have ever imagined. And I have all girls. You don’t need a son for fatherhood to be leading your life. My daughters are the light of my life and being a girl dad is my proudest accomplishment.

It's a roll of the dice. My friend's sister had her only child at 32. She separated from the child's father. She put the child in private school. The child was adored by the grandparents with toys and bicycles.
At 11, the boy started to manifest defiant behaviors at home & school. The mother changed cities & jobs hoping to give her son a fresh start. The behaviors continued & worsen.
Now she has premature grey in her hair and she admits , in private, that she regrets having the kid.
      True story.

@ferndog1461 the problem is not the child, the problem is the mother and father, and most importantly, the common denominator of the boy growing up without a father in the household. your friend's sister and her son's father are the failure, not the son.
