Licensed nail tech here, the absolute best part of this job is that end bit where you could tell she was so giddy and happy with her nails, it’s like she became a whole new person, that’s what I love the most, making people feel good.

Real question, cuticules are what protects you from nail infections etc so why nails tech remove them. I know it helps with the hold of the nails but that's kinda dangerous no?
@@kiruyuu I'm not an expert but I believe a nail Tech doesn't remove them, just tidies them. I *think* doing that makes a manicure last longer. There's also the protective gunk under your nails which start to grow longer with your nails, it keeps foreign objects out and I've never seen a nail tech remove it
@@kiruyuu The cuticle and the eponychium/hyponychium are different structures.
The nail grows out from the nail plate, sandwiched between the eponychium (top side of the nail, between the nail and skin) and the hyponychium (between the free edge and the skin under the nail). This tissue is clear and tends to really stick to the nail, cuticle remover breaks down the bonds between these dead cells so they can be wiped/washed away. The proximal nail fold is the live tissue at the base of the nail that we think of as “cuticle,” and you’re correct that it shouldn’t be clipped if it’s living, healthy tissue. Sometimes you get scraggly bits and hangnails and you don’t have a choice- leaving them will cause further tearing and possible injury.

I think you've mastered the most crucial part of doing any nail service. A clean well manicured nail prep. Maybe consider getting your license. This came out gorgeous 🥰🥰🥰

@@blaquemoonmajesty33 I don't think it's that so much as you need to be certified to be a nail technician and she isn't. Nothing wrong with that, but it is a profession with real consequences if you aren't licensed.
Cuticle oil with work wonders. I put it on all the time when I think about it, usually about 3-5 times a week. My nails have grown in to be so much stronger, I don’t pick at my cuticles anymore, and my nails have benefitted so much. I just use a sally vitamin e oil from Walmart, been doing it for like a year. My nails have never looked and been healthier.

That young nails bonder is the only thing that works for me! Even acrylics used to lift never mind gelx and poly gel. That little bottle lasted me a year of using it nearly every week while I was learning. So worth it!

@thegraytergood do you have any advice for super thin and weak nails that peel off super easily? I'm trying really hard not to pick off new growth, and I'm taking my vitamins and trying to live a good lifestyle, but it's so hard. I've started using cuticle oil and I found out that painted nails deter me from picking! But is there anything else I could/should do? Thank you so much!!! 🥰

YES you can definitely charge people for your services. If someone is willing to pay, you're a 'professional'. You may not do acrylics, gel, extentions etc, but you DEFINITELY do some cute little manicures that costs time and money when you pay for those polishes yourself. Not always, but sometimes you can do it for a price. It's a service!! 💞💞💅🏽💅🏽
@@cassandraTPWK it can get a little bit tricky state to state or country to country depending on their rules, regulations, and laws surrounding nail techs. She says she isn’t a licensed nail technician, idk where she lives and the rules and regulations there but ik where I live she can’t charge for a service(or at least advertise it) because the Board of Cosmetology will be knocking at her door soon tell her she can’t do that. I’m in Cosmetology school, that’s why I know all this stuff, if I’m wrong about anything, feel free to correct me.
@@corrinsheart Yeah, shes not a "nail tech" but she CAN give out manicures to close friends and family members who want one. She's not offering all the things a nail salon would do, shes just nicely and neatly putting on nail polish and decorations. But it DOES take time, effort and money if it's coming from your own supplies. She could charge 10 bucks if she wanted which is underpriced but still, it's a service. It's not in a building somewhere, it's in her house perhaps but lots of people also have home businesses. Like your friend can do your hair for you, and you're allowed to slip them a $20, you know?? Haha
