Well done video. I am very familiar with that stretch of water. It looks quite right now after the storms and has a lot of unfishable areas unfortunately. However, I wanted to comment because several folks are erroneously stating you did not catch brown trout. The coloration is subtle but it is obvious from your video that you definitely did catch wild small brown trout back there. Congrats!
Yeah some folks need to learn their trout patterns lol. But that’s ok I don’t hate. I had to learn too. Sorry to hear there is a bunch of unfishable parts right now… sounds like a challenge!!! 😂. Thanks for watching and thanks for your kind words. Cheers!
I wanted to fish that entire stretch but my wife was there so I didn’t subject her to much of my fishing addiction that trip 😂. Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll head straight there next time. 🤙🏼
There is browns and rainbow in there headwaters have Brookies caught them all in all those creeks there is a creek that is really deep that has some really nice browns figure it out
The small ones are brown trout. The large are stocked rainbows. It’s hard to tell on video but the spots on most of the small fish give it away. There are wild rainbows, browns and even brook trout in the Santa Ana River. Could be hybrids here and there too. 🤷🏼♂️ Thanks for watching!
Negative on that. Those were all native rainbows with the exception of thr rainbow stocker. Brown trout in that area are very distinct; yellowish brown even tone in the entire body with absence of vertical bars. They have distinct black, pink and reddish soots on a yellow/brown backdrop. Good job sir on fishing…i fish that area since the 80s and it is fished hard.
And yes they are wild as you say. There are wild rainbows, browns and even a rare brook trout in the Santa Ana River. And I do believe some of what I was catching are browns. Easy to tell imo

Looks like an awesome time. Great little adventure
Great time. 2 hours from home which is rad. Thanks for watching!
I remember the creek that ran along the cabins had a ton of fish in the early’80’s .
Most were near the road.
That is the North Fork of the Santa Ana and you should upstream across the road about 1.5 miles, that is where it gets really good
I wanted to fish that entire stretch but my wife was there so I didn’t subject her to much of my fishing addiction that trip 😂. Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll head straight there next time. 🤙🏼
If that's the north Fork then the title description is way off?
@@MrRonin1234 how do you figure?
Great spot to fish but you gotta wet your hands before handling trout. Good video
I did. Always do. Might be hard to notice but I keep the glove soaking wet if I use it. Thanks for watching!
@@myotherlinefishing even a wet glove will remove the protective slime coat that prevents bacteria on the fish
@@chowboy44 thanks for watching!

Looks llike a great time. Love a hammock in the mountains
Was a good time for sure. Ditto on the hammock. Thanks for checking out the video 🤙🏼
There is wild trout in San Diego but ur guna have to find those and never show anyone if u do I've found native Nelsoni trout multiple places
What are the coordinates for this spot?
I mention the name in the video 🙂
Why would anyone give up their exact spot / location? It is already heavily fished.
When was this taken?
About 2 months ago, maybe a little less.
Those are rainbows. Browns have red and yellow spots on a brown body amongst the black spots. Good video man looks pretty there.
Thanks for watching!
The fish at 4:30 is a brown for sure.
@andyyun1162 yep! Thanks for confirming. 🤘🏼
This place reminds me of Lytle creek.
Similar for sure. Less rock more dirt. Thanks for watching!
Great video that stream looks nice
Thanks man. It’s not bad. Lots of fish but lots of people too. Took a little work to get away from folks but it was doable. I’d go again for sure.
Are you camping in a free BLM area? Your spot doesn't have table or for ring like most paid sites would? If so where are you camping?
Yea on BLM land. It’s all over the place across the highway (south) from the river. A quick Google search will show you the area. East of Jenks Lake.
Love that place. Where did you camp
Across the Highway up a random dirt rd just west of where the river crosses the road. BLM land. Head to freecampsites.net . It’s marked on there.
Great vid
@@myotherlinefishing Is that the Angeles Oaks area?
Can you pin drop?@@myotherlinefishing
Thank you for showing this to us!
My pleasure! Thanks for watching!
I fear this area was wiped out by tropical storm Hilary last year.
It wasn’t completely. Parts of it in the upper parts of the river were a bit. Still fishable! Thanks for watching!
those are wild rainbows.. not brown trout. still nice.

@@hk2read You are wrong. The fish at 4:30 is 100% a wild brown trout. C'mon, man.
Where is this?
Santa Ana River, near Angelus Oaks
nice
Thanks man! Say hi to the fam for me. 🤙🏼
Those are NOT brown trout.
They are wild trout native to the santa ana river.
Ok. Thanks for watching!
