@7JeTeL7well yes, I don’t think there’s much disagreement here. The analysis I more in the ‘how’, why thy don’t appear to have a plan for any of it (kind of bomb and ask questions later) and whether it will work as intended. The hallmark of this administration is a lack of foresight / any thought at all into second and third order consequences.

@rogerstarkey5390 It’s possible, I just think this particular branch of the political mafia is more dangerous than the versions we’re used to. Bull in a china shop scenario.🙈
US and Israel are destabilising not only the middle east, but a lot of the world right now. It is time for Europe to fully condemn this war-mongering duo.
The same Europe that waits behind shields and closed doors to get their piece of resources from wars? That Europe? They might release some diplomatic, vague statement but when it's time to divide up war goods, they will be there to collect their piece of the pie just like they've always done. Don't be fooled.
Rory’s last points about broken trust goes deeper even than the current US regime. The American Electorate put Trump back in office after Jan 6th and wide dissemination of project 2025 during the campaign. The electorate knew exactly what they were voting for, and THEY unleashed this madness on the world. How can they ever be trusted to not do this again amd again.
That’s been my thinking since they voted him again. I work in the hi tech industry and work closely with Americans. Lots of highly educated people support him in everything he has done. Deeply problematic voter base.
@simonparfitt8It’s not just the unwashed that support a racist President, it’s the irrational appeal a cult/authoritarian has on those you’d think should know better.
So the new leader of Iran has just had his father, mother, wife, son, sister, bother-in-law and other relatives killed by Trump and Netanyahu. This is a lesson in how to win friends and influence people. I am sure Trump can look forward to a wonderful friendship and cooperation.
Yanks seem to have a childlike view of the world coloured by Hollywood. Like a Star Wars band of plucky rebels. They genuinely can;t see that bombing the fuck out of a country will not make that country come closer to them. They just think SMASHING things is a fix.
I'd have to disagree. The north Koreans don't have a book giving them a pass to set the world on fire to kill all the pagans, Jews, Christians and atheists.
Good episode. Thanks for being sensible and also thanks for being sensitive to the Iranian people. they deserve far better than American bombs and irgc repression.
Listening to Marco Rubio describe the Iranian government: they bomb embassies, invade other countries, fund terrorists …… until he said the word Iran, I thought he was describing Israel & the USA. Meanwhile, Venezuela has become a colony overnight.
I do not think Venezuela is US the colony. Nobody exactly knows a) what's going on in Venezuela b) what's going on with its oil export if any c) the same government is in place - the colony assumes the colonial administration to exist d) what's going on with Maduro and his wife ?
@sergeilyubski852 All good questions. I remember trump saying he put the oil money in a bank account in the UAE. I wonder who's name in on the account?
I've had the same feeling Rory mentioned halfway in this video. Iran is no friend to European interests. But Trump has proven so incompetent that he has managed to go about this in such a way as to alienate all possible support from allies other than Israel. He has spent an entire year mocking Europe, threatening them with tariffs, and backing out of the one conflict that Europe wholeheartedly supports (the defense of Ukraine). European interest and American interests have diverged in a dramatic way in just one year with Trump. I don't think Putin could have hoped for a better outcome.
And yet only Spain openly stood up for European interests, and the rest of Europe put the sign on the door, as Carney himself did a few months after making the point that we should stop putting the sign on the door.
He claims to be a patriot for the Israeli/Jewish people, but he is in fact a nationalist. His hatred of Palestinians, Iranians, etc, far exceeds any love for his own country or people.
When leaders care about their people as an abstraction more than the actual living and breathing individuals. There's no doubt Iran is the greatest threat to Israel so the logic isn't that faulty if they succeed in turning Iran into a democracy. Anything else will make their position worse in the near future.
@hartyewh1 I will try to be as respectful as possible... how can you be so naive as to think Israel wants ANY nation in the region to be a democracy? Do you know NO history whatsoever? Israel supports the most extreme and militant groups to keep its 'enemies' (ie, every non-Jewish nation in the region) divided, weak, and preferably at war. I find it staggering you could be so ignorant. Iran is the 'greatest threat' because they want to defend themselves. They have been suffering warlike acts from the Israelis going back decades. If they get a nuke, that will have to stop which is why Israel is so desperate.
Yes Alastair! For how many years have we been saying that energy sources close to home (renewables) are resistant to supply disruption. Russian's invasion of Ukraine was a huge "wake up" opportunity. I have an electric car, solar panels, and I live in Australia, but all of that won't protect us from the inevitable price rises and scarcity that is about to start. And we do know that prices of all goods will rise regardless of supply or disruption shocks because it's a perfect opportunity for sellers to raise prices and have us accept it as being necessary. I noticed that the day after the US/Israel action began, petrol stations over here already hiked their prices by upwards of 20 cents per litre. And that is even though no oil could possibly have pumped, been sent to a refining country, been refined, then sent to Australia. If the world weaned ourselves off ME oil and gas, their influence over prices and supply would vanish into a puff of carbon-soaked air. I sound like a crazy prepper, but here we are...
The hope is that Europe and the democratically minded middle powers like Canada, Japan, South Korea and Australia will, given the freedom to work around the United States rather than through it, be able to work to create a more balanced world order. A world where a single country cannot dictate the policy of the west, or choose on a whim to drag whole regions into war may be better. The worry that we return to the world of the Cold War or the late 19th and early 20th centuries is valid, but there are many potential benefits to the non American west to be found in a more multipolar world.
@SeeWoelfin Russia just shredded 1.2m of its own young men in a meat grinder. China is committing genocide quietly all over its territory. Stop talking utter bollocks
Trump is not on the side of the democratic west! He allies with authoritarians and anti west dictators. He knows full well that Russia will benefit from increased oil prices and Europe will suffer. The USA is not our ally, and should be treated as such
We in the US would love it if our regime would fall. Out of his supporters, at least half are idiots duped by Fox News who don't know what's going on. And the rest were politicized by extremist podcasters. We need the international community to boycott the US. Bring us down. It might be the only thing that will turn Trump's wealthy business supporters against him.
Good discussion but I think that one issue that I think you have not addressed is the influence of the US religious fundamentalists who believe that we are in the end of days and that Trump has been anointed by Christ to hasten his second coming and the end of days. In other words they do not care about any outcome other than chaos. The US ambassador to Israel is a strong believer in this. There have been over 200 complaints by members of the US military regarding briefings given to them by senior officers reflecting this view.
Exactly, but as Jesus said no one will know the day of its coming. The 'christian' fundamentalist think they know better than GOD & are killing in his name.
Always a great sign when geopolitics is driven by religious nutters. Really though I think the Christian-Nationalist are being used as useful idiots by some very cynical hardheads who think causing a global economic meltdown is going to let the US inflate away its debt and come out more powerful than its competitors (the rest of the G7).
Meanwhile, the Vatican just talks about peace and sends humanitarian aid. I'm traditional European Protestant and I'd never have thought I'd support the Vatican of all places. But, here we are. The times have changed.
As a 70 year old Englishman, my lifelong impression is that USA military interventionist and foreign policies have always been dubious, at best. The two main differences between Donny McTrump's administration and previous administrations is, specifically (1) that Donny promised many times that he wouldn't do it (2) that his administration is aligned with the Kremlin. Slava Ukraine!
So you want the US to fight the EU/Ukraine war for them but not Israel’s. Glad to see consistency. I don’t want to see either and that’s what trump promised
@J@John-ok8tsraine are being invaded and Israel are the aggressor once again in this situation, currently land grabbing Gaza, West Bank and Lebanon. Why should we or anyone else help them?
I think he got kicked out of the house again, or maybe he does not want the stink of this war on him, the man is stupid not to know the stink of him came way before trump.
Here's a question that came to mind. The US was able to build all these bases in the gulf nations so the gulf states could feel protected. And now the Iranians are pretty much able to demonstrate that they could potentially flood the skies with cheap drones to overwhelm the air defenses. What are the optics of this going to be to nations that host US bases in the pacific designed to ring China? This has got to be of great concern to them
Tony Blair, speaking at a lunch for Jewish newspapers, saying the UK should have fully backed Trump in whatever he decided to do. Well, how surprising.
The UK needs to stay out of this no matter what Trump says about 'loyalty' - we are not a poodle and our involvement should never be about blind loyalty - that is subservience, which is Trump's approach.
Amen. We are not blindly following the US into wars of choice. I seriously doubt that Trump would lift a finger to help anyone in Europe. They are not our friends.
@ryanfraser167 Europe and the commonwealth have a military twice the size of USAs, and USA has 4% of the world's population, not 96%> And who is USA protecting Europe from?? F off and take your European military bases with you, Cleetus. Everyone hates USA.
UK is dependent on gas imports, quite a lot now comes from the US. Trump could easily turn the taps off if he ever found out about it. Plus we rely on US companies for a lot of core tech, imagine if email servers or ISPs went down
@peterwstacey I remember trump talking to the CEO's of American oil companies, talking about how much money they were going to make if they gave him 1 billion dollars.
We are living through the age of cynicism, and it's posioning any chance at peace and stability. But we also have the rare chance to end the age of cynicism. European leaders have to be honest about the war mongering behaviours of the US and Israel and condemn them.
Churchill turned down Eisenhower's request to send British troops to Vietnam after the French withdrawal. A decade later Harold Wilson did the same to LBJ.
@TheBezaleel Try a thesaurus! Actually, given Trump's propensity for retaliation I think Starmer has the balls to tell Trump where to get off! What I want to see is King Charles tell Trump 'I cannot possibly visit a rogue nation' - you are on your own.
I enjoy your podcast/ show. But Alastair, so often you mention that so-and-so has been ‘taken out’. I think you should call it by it’s proper name, Murder, or Assassination as the case befits.
A political commentator said that he wouldn't trust Trump to sit the right way on a toilet and another pointed out how Trump never takes anything "off the table" because he doesn't know what a table is. There's a level of accuracy to both that should give us all an uneasy sense of seriousness.
They are not reading the room. Even on their own social media posts and on Gbeebies, they are being utterly dragged. NOBODY wants another pointless, illegal, brutal and expensive war.
Depends on if there is anything in it for us - criminally stupid war to start that it is if you can't stop it from happening, and I don't see how anybody outside of Russia could talk the First Felon out of any dumb idea, making a deal and getting some 'loyalty payments' from Trump might actually be worth it. Say payment in the form of extra F-35 and heaps of AA missiles for them to for our carriers, a heap of Patriot missiles and other goodies that we don't have to pay for from the American's obsolete cold war pile sent to Ukraine etc. Still a terrible terrible idea, but being able to say something that makes the position sound sane and fair enough on the world stage and provides a real boost to security in our neck of the woods...
"Yeah, we're just going to kill your dad, wife and close family" "What do you mean you're not going to surrender?" " Why are you attacking us ???? "Nooooooooo, they took out all the THAAD's" 🤣
Thank you Gentlemen. Regarding the mention of Churchill , I am reminded of the 1953 Coup detat of the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran Mohammad Mosaddegh . Let's remember Our history of intervention in sovereign states .
@meganm1074 I agree. There would probably be no "Iranian regime" today if that intervention had not happened. And somehow US doesn't understand why Iran is not a big fan of them...
@SteamedHamsSkinner Indeed! I sincerely hope Israel will move towards the political centre after Netanyahu. The way Israel has been heading in the past few decades won't lead to a happy place for the peope of Israel. I wonder why Netanyahu and the people closest to him can't see that the world is turning against their country? Likewise with Trump. I can't really wrap my head around the reasoning of these people. Maybe they're both very ill mentally and/or cognitively, and that's the reason.
No Alastair, it's not impossible for western journalists to report from Iran. CNN was doing it and Trump was very unhappy about it. They weren't accompanied by IRGC handlers like Mossad would do in Israel, either. EDIT: That CNN reporter in Tehran is still there and still reporting at this very moment.
@playedout148Also correct - even more meaningful that they were reporting from inside Iran without being harassed by the government, in the middle of the Amerisraeli terror strikes.
Is their no beginning to your intelligence? Israel is awash with reporters, they are not accompanied by Mossad handlers. I speak from experience, unlike you who speak with deep prejudice.
I’m now wondering if Mossad have some information on Trump (possibly some of the yet to be released Epstein files?) and Netanyahu is using this to blackmail him into going to war?
While Trump and Netanyahu insist they choose Khameni's successor, would it be Kharma be if the war results in choosing successors to Trump and Netanyahu?
They are PSYCHOPATHS! Don't be surprised by anything Trump, Leavett, Hegseth et al., do. We live with them here. You cannot believe anything that comes out of their mouths. He will turn tail and run shortly. I bet by the end of the week. At the end of the day Trump Always Chickens Out.
No, they are worse. Psychopaths are self-interested and strategic in ways Trump could never be. Trump is a deranged fool with all the power one can imagine surrounded by jokers of his own choice.
@sergeilyubski852 Regardless, they are on the Cluster B spectrum way down at the evil end. At the end of the day, it all comes down to SELF-ENRICHMENT. Everything, every time.
Ukraine is now selling interceptor drones to Gulf States. I really really hope they are charging premium prices. Apparently they can cost as little as $1,000 to $2,500 each.
Most of the population of Iran are against the regime. It's just that the regime has a million troops and another million police and yet another million irregulars. The population needs to be armed to overthrow their government themselves, with air support from the west. But that is a very long process, not a quick turnaround like Trump likes. Also requires months or years of shaping operations which Trump lacks the patience for
Iran mainly targeted US military bases that encircle Iran, in neighboring countries - and Dubai, where a lot of dodgy stuff happens - tax haven, money laundering, etc. you can't bomb fanatical religious hardliners out of existence - turns out US military bases are a liability, not an advantage.. trump is intent on going to war all over the world and getting cheered on by the war profiteering billionaires and rogue defense contractors selling to the highest bidder, no matter who it is, they aren't concerned about the United States or the UK or the EU or NATO - money is all they're interested in.
All while increasing the price of oil, of which they are the biggest producer with no supply issues. Perhaps its about time someone took a dislike to their growing monopoly at the expense of the entire world
@lesleymansfield1440 we have independent media, as long as you are good at cross reference, im faster and better informed. some people, mainly boomers and the uneducated do struggle with modern media and using multiple indi sources from across from the planet.
Why haven't you discussed the shocking extent to which the US & Israel is deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure such as hospitals, schools, factories etc. Heinous war crimes that receive little to no attention, even the "evil" Iran doesn't stoop so low and is by your own words, somewhat restrained
I have zero sympathy for a regime that has slaughtered thousands of its own people the last 12 months. Iran would stoop so low actually. As for bombing schools & hospitals have you heard the term human shield? A tactic used by Hamas in Gaza where they would store weapons such as rockets & bombs in the basements of these places knowing where thousands of its people would be congregated, giving Israel the dilemma of bombing the enemy where civilians could be hiding /congregating. War is not pretty. Regarding Iran did you hear of the teenage girl who was raped then hanged? she was hanged for being raped. This is the evil Israel & America are going to eradicate hopefully.
Iran crisis is damaging all of the world but it will heavily take a toll on South Korea and Japan, industrial power with basically no oil in their land. Trumps US targeted these 2 major allies of US and accused of robbing them now he is making decisions that will bring down our economy. Wonder why we even stay as ally
Because China historically was the vastly bigger threat and while you get on well with Europe geography isn't on your side in mutually supporting each other etc. Given recent events does seem like all of the USA's old allies need to kick them out the clubhouse and figure out how to get on without them.
@foldionepapyrus3441this is true major reason why South Korea and Japan is putting up with US at all is China. But he is treating these allies like his personal purse that gives you money whenever you ask. Just imagine how China will be welcoming if South Korea decides to remove closest American base to Beijing
Over on Chris Norland's channel he said S. Korean's got 4 months in reserves then it's off to talk to Mexico or Canada. The S. Korean are pissed with trump and the israelies.
Remember how Donald lied and managed the pandemic? I hold him responsible for many deaths. Now we are dealing with his war. He is lying and responsible for many deaths. Why anyone would have voted for him after his disaster first term is frustrating. So now just a year into Donalds second term and MAGA has given us a golfing, demented old man that couldn’t find Iran on the map. BB played Donald like a fiddle.
Many many people would much prefer a Trump type politician than Starmer. You just keep living in your left wing bubble and the other side will actually do something to make people’s lives better. Rather than just talk about it in a meeting with the right quota of ethnics.
Q. for the team - Who signs off on the targetting plan for US missiles/munitions at assigned targets in a foreign country? Presumably it's someone VERY high up in the military and also with approval from the administration (eg the Secretary of War?). Clear video evidence is coming out that it was indeed US Tomahawks that hit the compound containing the Iranian girls school. The main target appears to have been the IRGC Navy buildings a few hundred metres from the school. Too far away to be a stray missile (Tomahawks are invariably incredibly accurate). The school received a direct hit. Turns out the school's building was once part of the IRGC complex but was converted to a school about 8 years ago. That's obvious from satellite images showing colorful playground equipment etc. So was the targetting plan based on outdated intell? Or did Hesgeth think the 7 yr old girls were 2 weeks away from building a nuclear bomb? Those poor girls....
The fact that there are no consequences for, and the Western media brush off, war crimes means there is little incentive to aim carefully. Even to assume it is an accident and not a terror attack. I'm sure Laura Kneussberg or some similar hack can explain why those children are mere collateral damage and a small price to pay for the greater Israel project.
@ChristopherFynn001or outright hallucinating. From what i’ve seen of AI reasoning abilities, we’re probably lucky they didn’t take out half of Norfolk due to parsing online info about Bernard Matthews and concluding it was Turkey
Not exactly. There are some differences. Unlike Russia in Ukraine, there are no reports of deliberate torture of civilians by electric shocks by the Americans. Unlike Russia in Ukraine, the US also doesn't claim that Iranians don't even exist as a nation. But on the whole, yeah, it's similar.
Russia is not carpet bombing Ukraine and did not start with a decapitation strike. Remember this is day 9, and over 1000 Iranian civilians have been killed.
@welcometomiami85Nope that's the same in the Donbass, over 90 per cent of the population want to be part of Russia. That's why there was a civil war in Ukraine from 2014-2022.
Definitely definitely definitely! Why can’t people see this! Shares in oil!!!! Please explain if this is not the case. I would like to understand this.
It was just announced that both of trump's boys were heavy investors in a drone company with a no bid contract with the Pentagon. This just sucks, will it ever end?.
I thought RS was going to do the full quote from Gladiator - Russell Crowe style. The most iconic quote from Maximus in Gladiator (2000) regarding his murdered wife is: "My name is Maximus Decimus Meridius, commander of the Armies of the North, General of the Felix Legions and loyal servant to the true emperor, Marcus Aurelius. Father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.".
Yeah peace must be at hand if US is creating leaders with motivation like this "Son to a murdered father, father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next" straight out of Gladiator - not to spoil anything but he got his revenge.
System? A 2000 year old culture is being pulverised. An environmental catastrophe has been unleashed. People are dying by the thousands. Fuck the system.
sadly, pulverizing cultures is a symptom not a cause or purpose. Shaking fists at the heavens won’t achieve anything. Genuinely new ideas are required. Every time a person with a truly fresh perspective sits opposite Rory and Alastair they give us a thousand reasons why each idea won’t fly “politically”. Time for that to end. We need to try to real alternatives to this stupid profit chasing, gun toting mafia Ponzi scheme.
"Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat", Sun Tzu, The Art of War.
And there it is ….and how’s it’s been for far too long

Let’s be honest here. It is not the Iran war it is the US Israeli war!!!!!
Nah, Trumepicteinfury War?
It's a war in Iran. Therefore, Iran war. An invasion by US and Israel... of Iran.
And it’s not about defence. Israel just wants to weaken one of the biggest powers that’s making their “Greater Israel” plan more difficult
@chepulisNo, imprecise,ex: Franco-Prussian War, so here the USA-Israel-Iran War.Also not limited to those 3 lands-- no fight in USA.
Hahah tool
Lets turn Trumps golf courses in the UK into wind farms
What a fantastic idea.
A lot of hot air!
Before we do.... let's go take a dump on them. We could call it "Dump on Trump"...🤣🤣
@Lego6980 should be very efficient then
Lets finally fund fusion properly
It is so nice to hear someone talk about and have empathy for the people of Iran. My heart bleeds for anyone having to live in a bomb zone. It is horrible, just horrible.
Regime change in the USA would go a long way to easing global tension right now.

US and Israel are destabilising not only the middle east, but a lot of the world right now. It is time for Europe to fully condemn this war-mongering duo.
Ah come on, that's not fair. Rory isn't a war-monger, he just does a podcast with one.

The same europe who wants American guarantees for Ukraine.
I so hope we pull out of Nato and leave you lot to it with Russia .
@mrsmith56 Idiots do have the most idiotic ideas, it's true.
It’s a bit late for that. This is what comes from appeasing Trump.
Rory’s last points about broken trust goes deeper even than the current US regime. At least Trump can rely on all the allies he's made over the last year through his skillful use of soft power and tactful personal diplomacy.

They genuinely can;t see that bombing the fuck out of a country will not make that country come closer to them. They just think SMASHING things is a fix.
@TesterAnimal1what other way is there to get rid of the regime? Please be specific
Now you know why Iran wanted nuclear weapons notice they never attack North Korea.
Nor Russia/India/Pakistan/China
North Korea doesn't have oil....nothing to loot after the attack.
I'd have to disagree. The north Koreans don't have a book giving them a pass to set the world on fire to kill all the pagans, Jews, Christians and atheists.
Yes, biggest mistake of Iran was to trust the US and give up their chance to build a nuclear weapon. I'm sure they won't make the same mistake twice

I do not think Venezuela is US the colony. Nobody exactly knows a) what's going on in Venezuela b) what's going on with its oil export if any c) the same government is in place - the colony assumes the colonial administration to exist d) what's going on with Maduro and his wife ?
Rubio is a windmill and windbag
I'm worrying about Cuba
@sergeilyubski852 All good questions. I remember trump saying he put the oil money in a bank account in the UAE. I wonder who's name in on the account?
@sergeilyubski852 The fact that nobody knows those things in the proof it's a colony, my sweet naive child.
Commendable comment. 100% agree.
You've summed up this shameful situation perfectly
Putin's hybrid war. Destroying countries from the inside through misinformation
And yet only Spain openly stood up for European interests, and the rest of Europe put the sign on the door, as Carney himself did a few months after making the point that we should stop putting the sign on the door.
Well said!
It appears Netanyahu wants to destroy the entire Middle East no matter how many of his own people are killed. He's insane in his hatred.
He claims to be a patriot for the Israeli/Jewish people, but he is in fact a nationalist. His hatred of Palestinians, Iranians, etc, far exceeds any love for his own country or people.
@andym6060 And he wants to stay out of jail, just like Trump.
When leaders care about their people as an abstraction more than the actual living and breathing individuals. There's no doubt Iran is the greatest threat to Israel so the logic isn't that faulty if they succeed in turning Iran into a democracy. Anything else will make their position worse in the near future.
He's a fascist hiding behind Judaism.
You’re always able to offer more depth of information than other commenters.
The older I get the less I weep for the end of US hegemony
Why, because you are closer to the grave? Because you wont have to see a world dominated by China, Russia and their cronies?
@darrenambrosiathe average Joe can t see the far. They think the world is black and white so US bad, anything else doesn t matter.
@darrenambrosiaRussia and China will be the more humane option. I am willing to learn the languages.
Well said.
Yes trumpy hates Europe. He will take us into another recession.
I totally agree
USA is not our ally. We are US's poodles and we have always supported all of US illegal and criminal actions against the third world countries.
Biggest threat to world safety and peace is US of Israel.
The real sponsors of terrorism.
On Point all the way through - one of the best episodes I've seen / heard
Most UK politicians vocally suppirting Trump or Israel are likely being financially supported to do so, directly or indirectly.
Why is Blair interfering in the UKs position! He’s had his moment and should have the wisdom to keep out of it
he's bored of peace
He can say what he likes, he was never convicted of war crimes, neither was Alastair
🤑💰💸
Ask Campbell ,he is his mate.
Also seems he's not learnt his lesson
Because the subject of Christian evangelism is Infra dig. It’s a given that that’s the fuel for Trump’s zeal and of course the Epstein files.
😂
Meanwhile, the Vatican just talks about peace and sends humanitarian aid. I'm traditional European Protestant and I'd never have thought I'd support the Vatican of all places. But, here we are. The times have changed.
As a 70 year old Englishman, my lifelong impression is that USA military interventionist and foreign policies have always been dubious, at best. The two main differences between Donny McTrump's administration and previous administrations is, specifically (1) that Donny promised many times that he wouldn't do it (2) that his administration is aligned with the Kremlin. Slava Ukraine!
The 🍊🤡is putins puppet. destroying 🌎democracy .
Elbows up 💪🇨🇦💪🌎💪
So you want the US to fight the EU/Ukraine war for them but not Israel’s. Glad to see consistency. I don’t want to see either and that’s what trump promised
Yup - Trump is the Kremlin's man and probably Bibi's too - both of them have the same pictures I suspect! I doubt Epstein had exclusivity deals!
@J@John-ok8tsraine are being invaded and Israel are the aggressor once again in this situation, currently land grabbing Gaza, West Bank and Lebanon. Why should we or anyone else help them?
@John-ok8ts Before he was elected Trump did say he could stop the Ukraine war in 24 hours. He also said he wasn't going to start any.
Learned more from this conversation than I have from all other news I've watched or read about this conflict
Really informative. First class
You notice Vance is VERY quiet
Hopefully he's a goner and they'll vote Newsom in...they have to!!
I think he got kicked out of the house again, or maybe he does not want the stink of this war on him, the man is stupid not to know the stink of him came way before trump.
@theresamcpherson7352 they certainly are looking to leave the cost of the mess with vance and he is sensing it and running a mile lol.
Did he get a new sofa?
Here's a question that came to mind.
The US was able to build all these bases in the gulf nations so the gulf states could feel protected. And now the Iranians are pretty much able to demonstrate that they could potentially flood the skies with cheap drones to overwhelm the air defenses.
What are the optics of this going to be to nations that host US bases in the pacific designed to ring China?
This has got to be of great concern to them
Tony Blair, speaking at a lunch for Jewish newspapers, saying the UK should have fully backed Trump in whatever he decided to do. Well, how surprising.
He needs to read Chilcott again and then lock himself away in a cell until he dies.
Blair has never met a war he didn’t like, complete parasite.
Is this board of peace member Tony Blair?
On the list.
What a surprise, Blair is only interested in money
The UK needs to stay out of this no matter what Trump says about 'loyalty' - we are not a poodle and our involvement should never be about blind loyalty - that is subservience, which is Trump's approach.
Amen. We are not blindly following the US into wars of choice. I seriously doubt that Trump would lift a finger to help anyone in Europe. They are not our friends.
Exactly we've been there before!
A poodle has the benefit of sharper teeth.
@Mac-q2lthe UK has no defence without the US dufus
@ryanfraser167
Europe and the commonwealth have a military twice the size of USAs, and USA has 4% of the world's population, not 96%>
And who is USA protecting Europe from??
F off and take your European military bases with you, Cleetus.
Everyone hates USA.
Damn, this was good info + insight
As ever, really interesting guys. Thanks
Why are world leaders so afraid to give Trump a reality check as well as saying no to his demands (are you listening Starmer)
Spanish PM was the only one who had the balls
Becuase they fear suffering the same treatment that iran is currently receiving
UK is dependent on gas imports, quite a lot now comes from the US. Trump could easily turn the taps off if he ever found out about it. Plus we rely on US companies for a lot of core tech, imagine if email servers or ISPs went down
Starmer has a country and people to consider. He has an impossible path to follow. He is negotiating the route sensibly.
According to purveyors of the virtues of ushering in a multi polar world, no one dared ever tell the U.S. no until 2026 tho, you must be mistaken!!
But their had balls and a spine !!
@TheBezaleel Maybe you should learn English before commenting so as not to embarrass yourself.
Thank God they did because Australia followed the US into Vietnam and took consequences of that action.
@TheBezaleel Try a thesaurus! Actually, given Trump's propensity for retaliation I think Starmer has the balls to tell Trump where to get off!
What I want to see is King Charles tell Trump 'I cannot possibly visit a rogue nation' - you are on your own.
Best episode yet
I enjoy your podcast/ show. But Alastair, so often you mention that so-and-so has been ‘taken out’. I think you should call it by it’s proper name, Murder, or Assassination as the case befits.
A political commentator said that he wouldn't trust Trump to sit the right way on a toilet and another pointed out how Trump never takes anything "off the table" because he doesn't know what a table is. There's a level of accuracy to both that should give us all an uneasy sense of seriousness.
So glad the tories or reform aren’t in government just now. Who wants to join this idiocy?
wait till you find out Starmer has joined in 🤣
They are not reading the room.
Even on their own social media posts and on Gbeebies, they are being utterly dragged. NOBODY wants another pointless, illegal, brutal and expensive war.
@TesterAnimal1 I think he was coerced.
@darrenambrosiano he hasn’t
Israel becomes even more unpopular?
Really, I'm gobsmacked!!!
Excellent discussion, gentlemen.
Tha k you both. 🇨🇦
What the hell did Trump ever think would happen? How did anybody in the administration believe there would be an upside to this action?
Because their White House is actually a mental hospital
"Yeah, we're just going to kill your dad, wife and close family"
"What do you mean you're not going to surrender?"
" Why are you attacking us ????
"Nooooooooo, they took out all the THAAD's"
🤣
Mark Carney was brave enough to openly disagree with Trump ..
and then whole-heartedly support the current war on Iran. Why do you care what these politicians say?
Was he? I think Carney "regretted" to "have to" back Trump in his war.
Oh canada eh❤❤❤❤
Good for him for standing up to this orange bully.
Agree so has the Spanish PM.
You don't want to get out of the UN, you want to get the UN out of New York. Put it in Geneva, and it will start functioning normally again.
Yep
and enlarge the security council and remove veto power. Relocate and REFORM the UN
Yeh. Proximity to idiocy is contagious.
As a youngster I always thought the UN should’ve been in Jerusalem. Geneva is the better option if you;re not a dreamer.
Agreed 👍
An excellent discussion, gentlemen. This is the brilliant and rational journalism we need in an ever-confusing and polarising world. Bravo.
Thak you.
Carney told you all about this in Davos! Canada determined what the USA stands for in February 2025!
Carney is a smart cookie. Canada are going to come out of this mess smelling of roses. If only our clown PM were that smart and decisive.
And yet he stands by Israel and the US in this war 😂😂😂
Thank you Gentlemen. Regarding the mention of Churchill , I am reminded of the 1953 Coup detat of the democratically elected Prime Minister of Iran Mohammad Mosaddegh . Let's remember Our history of intervention in sovereign states .
Which actually led to many of today’s problems.
@meganm1074 I agree. There would probably be no "Iranian regime" today if that intervention had not happened. And somehow US doesn't understand why Iran is not a big fan of them...
Kissinger said it is dangerous to be america's enemy, it is fatal to be its friend.
Good coverage guys. Thank you
Thank you
Folk used to say …”it’s as if Israel is part of the US” ……… now it’s….’the US is part of Israel”. Netanyahu determines US foreign policy. Clearly.
Influences trump anyway, fortunately for humanity, they are ageing.
Indeed - Netanyahu is the worst president that the USA has ever had.
Rubio let it slip and we literally know this to be one hundred percent the case.
@SteamedHamsSkinnerthe entire Congress is funded by AIPAC
Is it possible to Manchurian Candidate an entire nation?
23:37 Even if you told him he had made an error his malignant narcissism would prevent him from stepping back, unless he found a way to blame others
Thank you gentlemen for your expertise
It's good to listen to you
It is really uncanny how 1:1 the russian and maga propaganda are. It is almost like they come from same play book...
Absolutely appalling
Except Russia did not enter Ukraine in full force, otherwise Zelensky wouldn't be alive
@claudinefiona9698Yeah. Russia are holding back to save civilian casualties. They could be in Kyiv next week if they actually wanted.
@claudinefiona9698 The russians are too stupid, including putin, to know what they are dealing with when it comes to the Ukrainians.
Don't insult President Putin by comparing him to Trump.
CNN is state media now.
So you think Iran is more democratic than Israel. You really have disappeared up your own anus
@Megan-ii4gfdid they attend the 40k genocide deaths of the Ayatollah last month???
Thank you both for making the case for renewables.
Great discussion.
All wars’ outcome is unpredictable.
To me it looks like Netanyahu is in charge and Trump jumps to his tune.
Strange but reflects that Trump knows he is not very bright!
I’m now wondering if Mossad have some information on Trump (possibly some of the yet to be released Epstein files?) and Netanyahu is using this to blackmail him into going to war?
You can be sure Israel have all the compromat developed by their asset Epstein - so they can call the tune.
That's not even a secret its just a fact Netanyahu says jump and Trump says how high.
poo tin too
While Trump and Netanyahu insist they choose Khameni's successor, would it be Kharma be if the war results in choosing successors to Trump and Netanyahu?
What about Blair’s comments, he hasn’t changed or learnt anything
Don't let Campbell hear you say that!!
He's just got more and more Christian hasn't he? Mad.
Votre émission est vraiment très intéressante. Encore !
Both Putin & Netanyahu had been waiting decades for an inept, clueless & compliant US President and finally came up top trumps.
Israel won't allow it. This is very much Satanyhu's war and the Trump Admin are doing the bidding.
Psychopaths with "god on their side". Not the best combination.
Slava Ukraine!
my two pennies. SOCIOPATHS ... which is more dangerous then PSYCOPATHS.
2:22 .... "And he will have his vengeance, in this life or the next".
(Sorry I had to)
Strengthening of institutions = longterm peace. Leaders/dictators/empires = continuous conflict.
Brilliant as usual
Well this is terrifying
Ukraine is now selling interceptor drones to Gulf States. I really really hope they are charging premium prices. Apparently they can cost as little as $1,000 to $2,500 each.
How can they afford to lose weaponry like that?
@threeebearsif they’re selling them at a price that lets them build so many more to protect themselves, incredibly easily
I thought Ukraine didn’t have any cards??
@RichardtheIII51 Well, they do have a Joker
@jordanclark4635if they can build them quicker than they need them
What Trump and his team cannot grasp is that you cannot bomb ideas.out of existence
20 years of GWOT, and the yanks learnt fuck all.
No, but you can neuter them.
Well said.👏👏
Ideas Mr Creedy, are bulletproof.
Most of the population of Iran are against the regime. It's just that the regime has a million troops and another million police and yet another million irregulars. The population needs to be armed to overthrow their government themselves, with air support from the west. But that is a very long process, not a quick turnaround like Trump likes. Also requires months or years of shaping operations which Trump lacks the patience for
Why is Blair pressurizing Starmer to support Trumps war?
Because forever wars distract the population from having their freedom curtailed perhaps?
Well ask his best mate Campbell.
Because he has been owned by the US for years?
Great discussion, great channel! As always you guys dive deep! Thank you!
As a Canadian, I appreciate your coverage.
Perhaps its about time someone took a dislike to their growing monopoly at the expense of the entire world
@SteamedHamsSkinner ehhhhh? you think they are storing oil in thier basements?
If you were to listen to the mainstream media, hardly any missiles are hitting Israel from Iran.
Hey ho and on we go. Western media covering up exactly what is happening. Just have to shut up and accept?
Israel attacked Iran. That seems a normal response.
@lesleymansfield1440 we have independent media, as long as you are good at cross reference, im faster and better informed. some people, mainly boomers and the uneducated do struggle with modern media and using multiple indi sources from across from the planet.
absolutely insulting you are but you do not seem to have much experience so I’ll not let it worry me
@shaun906 Rude or ignorant? Boomers were programming home computers in the early 80s, they didn’t come with software, you had to write it yourself.
Israel and the US are now trying to do to Iran what Israel did in Gaza.
@ChristopherFynn001More like Libya. Creating an unviable state.
I would not go that far. Criminal carelessness sure.
49:46 It's so fun that Rory has sarcastically adopted the nickname of "lefty bedwetter"... :)
BOO HOO ! Been coming for so long !
Thankyou chaps, your analysis is excellent as usual and quite frightening
Iran crisis is damaging all of the world but it will heavily take a toll on South Korea and Japan, industrial power with basically no oil in their land. Trumps US targeted these 2 major allies of US and accused of robbing them now he is making decisions that will bring down our economy. Wonder why we even stay as ally
it's not crisis as you put it you selfish insular woke people. its about struggle of a nation to break free from a despotic system .
We desperately need to make a strong regional alliance, including joint weapons programs and military inter-operability. Love from Australia.
13:00 ‘we have more control over the sun and the wind’ 😂😂😂 genuinely thoughtless.
Was really hoping Rory would do the gladiator speech at 2:23
Thank you for these podcasts let’s hope people’s eyes will be opened to Nigel Farage and the reform party another lunatic like his bestie Trump
And that we all forget about Alister's role in the last illegal invasion of the middle east.
What do you mean. Iran killed its own people? Want to develop a nuclear weapon to use on Americans?
What's lunacy with wanting to stop that??? 🤯🤣
Many many people would much prefer a Trump type politician than Starmer. You just keep living in your left wing bubble and the other side will actually do something to make people’s lives better. Rather than just talk about it in a meeting with the right quota of ethnics.
You are pitifully naive.
@lawolstenexcept Trump withdrew the nuclear observers...who said there were no nukes.
Is not an expansionist Israel the reason why they talked the US into this folly?
Yes, and with the midterms threatening the Republican hold on Congress the timing was critical.
The last act of a dying empire (US).
Q. for the team - Who signs off on the targetting plan for US missiles/munitions at assigned targets in a foreign country?
Hegseth is as thick as a plank of wood and as dangerous as a cut snake
The fact that there are no consequences for, and the Western media brush off, war crimes means there is little incentive to aim carefully. Even to assume it is an accident and not a terror attack.
I'm sure Laura Kneussberg or some similar hack can explain why those children are mere collateral damage and a small price to pay for the greater Israel project.
These days targeting is probably determined by AI which could have easily been using outdated information.
@ChristopherFynn001or outright hallucinating. From what i’ve seen of AI reasoning abilities, we’re probably lucky they didn’t take out half of Norfolk due to parsing online info about Bernard Matthews and concluding it was Turkey
@Katharine-000😂😂😂... quality response.
I am not Dubliner, but I am on Alastair's side:-) It is pleasure to hear you guys. Cheers!
Was that a Gladiator reference by Rory at the beginning?
USA is literally doing exactly what Russia is doing in Ukraine. If we side with the USA we’re on the wrong side of history this time
Not exactly.
No big difference. the majority of Iranians... And I have spoken to many, support a military intervention in Iran
To be on the right side of history, we have to support the mullahs who just murdered 30000 Iranians.
And I bet Trump and his mates are all going to benefit massively from the increase in oil prices…
Definitely definitely definitely! Why can’t people see this! Shares in oil!!!! Please explain if this is not the case. I would like to understand this.
Certainly Putin, Trump’s bff, is raking in some serious benefit from the spike in oil prices
It was just announced that both of trump's boys were heavy investors in a drone company with a no bid contract with the Pentagon. This just sucks, will it ever end?.
@theresamcpherson7352 With the Democrats totally on board with such fraud, it won't end.
And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next.".
we fkn know duh
What's happening with the ballroom?
Go Rory, tell us wat you really think. Love your show guys. Greetings from Oz.
Yeah peace must be at hand if US is creating leaders with motivation like this "Son to a murdered father, father to a murdered son, husband to a murdered wife. And I will have my vengeance, in this life or the next" straight out of Gladiator - not to spoil anything but he got his revenge.
Yes, I noticed that. Rory wisely swerved that temptation to make light of it.
Well they’ll all probably be dead soon.
I don't think the spotty teenager who made that video ever watched the film...
What a mess. A predictable, pre-destined, godawful mess. A system is breaking apart. It won’t be glued together. “Some new ideas here are needed!”
New ideas have been needed for 20+ years
@Ukedc259 I love the way you think!
I'm sure Trump has enough money to fully insulate himself and his pals from the financial consequences of this crisis .
I am sure that entire despicable family and entourage were shorting on all sorts of things just before this kicked off....
@gghana, I hope there will soon come a time when their dealings are subjected to very heavy scrutiny.
Yes. Values and vision without ascerbic derision.
What about Hegseth's plan to be involved with the Third Temple on Temple Mount? Also Greater Isreal that would include Iran.
