      @@lewisredwood06 Not really and doubtful.
This is way too nerdy and technical for most people. The target audience is a small percentage of motor sport followers.
In case you hadn't noticed last season, a huge percentage don't even care about the rules, only whether their preferred team/driver gets favourable treatment/results.

It really feels like while Ferrari has tried to innovate with an extreme and very out-there interpretation of the rules, Mercedes decided to adapt and perfect a more conventional and already proven concept.
I don't know about the actual racing, but from an engineeristic point of view this is one of the most exciting seasons in decades, F1 teams truly never fail to amaze me.

    • @rbelu2715
      @rbelu2715 2 года назад +45

@@KevinJDildonik Could be, but they also might have smashed it out of the park, we literally have zero way of knowing yet.
If you remember the last big rule change in 2017 Ferrari was by far the most innovative on the grid, and went from a winless season straight to challenging for the title.
They've been so conservative after 2017-18 that it's really exciting to see them try something so extreme for once.
And of course the Merc being competitive is a safe bet, yes, but we really can't know for sure until after Bahrain. I'm not trying to jinx them, but If you saw the 2005 Ferrari before the season started you'd swear it would dominate just like its predecessors, cause why wouldn't it?
And to top it all off we're still yet to see whatever monster Newey's genius has birthed in its full (presumed) glory.
I'm just hoping for a close fight at the top, and if Ferrari is part of that then it would make it that much better.

Don't get me wrong, the Merc was better overall, but switch the PUs and it would've surely struggled to win races.

I wonder if a brush that was more of a highlight (70%-80% opacity) rather than a solid brush (100% opacity) might help to be able to understand the intricacies of what you are talking about better. Might just be me who is having trouble here but thought I’d mention it. Thanks again

Huge differences between rendered model and real one is like from some kind of a meme. Like "mom i want a new mercedes f1 car. -Son, but we have mercedes f1 car at home. Mercedes car at home: ... ", or "expectations vs reality".

Perhaps the back is a new tactic for “malicious aero”. Since cars will in theory be closer together, if you design the car so the trailing air is disorganized or disruptive, it can make you a difficult car to follow or overtake. Just a random thought.

I love this series you're my fave, But it would be nice if you would at the end of your video give us a quick summary of your overall thoughts, So we get a better idea of how you feel about each car compared to the others in terms of overall potential, maybe rate or grade their potential as you see it or your favorites to least. I don't know just an idea, take care!

I bet that the strake on the rear of the bargeboard is a smart use of the tyre temperature sensor, same as they have on their front wing.

Will we see less riding over the kerbs to protect the floors? Will the car become much more unstable if it lifts off the ground if floor suction is lost, compared to previous generation of cars?

  • @ThaWolf24

Once all the cars have been launched, can you perhaps do a slightly more opinion-driven bit where you order the cars to your personal preference? Which ones do you think will work best? What concepts would you have gone for if you would have to design a car from scratch? And who's going to kick-off best in Bahrain? :)

These are great. You use the term “cranked” an awful lot and for non-aerodynamicists it might be helpful to understand a bit. Maybe flash up a definition in text onscreen so folks can follow.

Great aero analysis! But what about the diffuser? Also interesting to see the placement of the pitot tubes on the floor. You can see where they are trying to maximise downforce through the floor for the driver. Maintaining effective sealing off the floor as much as possible also seems to be one of their goals for drivability.

    • @henriqueschmitz7520
