The F-86D/K interceptor model had an afterburning J-47. The F-86H had the upgraded J-47 which was designated the J-73 also had afterburner. I grew up blocks away from an F-86H equipped ANG unit and you could hear the light the burner as they headed down the runway. Sounded like a rocket launch.
