Another really fun reaction and the smile on your face when Floor comes sidling up to the microphone matches my own. This band is so fun live. Thank you for working your way through this entire concert. It is fantastic from start to finish... as is Wembley 2015, Tampere 2015, Masters of Rock 2015, Buenos Aires 2018, Hellfest 2022, and the Deichbrand 2022 festival. You will see how Marko and Emppu just gets the happiest smiles, and interactions - with Floor - they are enjoying themselves completely, feeling totally at home on stage with Floor. They are like one happy united bunch of happiness. And their happiness affects the crowd. Floor's stage presence were different from the former singers - she was the band's missing part to be perfect. And yes - Marko and Floor's duets are legendary - but later on you will experience a mind blowing duet between Floor and the opera singer Henk Port, doing 'The Phantom of the Opera' from Ziggy Dome in Amsterdam (2022). But the whole story up to this incredible performance, are just telling you what kind of a person Floor really are. The story starts with Floor's participation in a Dutch TV-show called 'Beste Zangers ' - 7 episodes - and all available on the net (Gabriel has got the links). This will blow you mind completely. 😁 Love this song! Annette Olzon was the original vocalist of this 2011 song. It's from their 2011 Imaginaerum album. A concept album that tells the story of an aging composer with dementia drifting into a coma. A true Tuomas masterpiece. Floor took the vocals of this song to a whole new level. Sweet Reaction! 🤘😎🤘
Thing about Tuomas - the reason he formed Nightwish in 1996 was because he wanted to be in a band where he is the main composer and lyricist, with some help from others of course if needed. Before Nightwish he was in a few bands as a session keyboardist, but songwriting fascinated him a lot. It wasn't easy for the others at first, but eventually they adapted to their roles and especially when success came, it was easier to adjust to their roles. When the songs are arranged to their final form, then the other band members are involved and their creativity can also be shown in the songs. Side projects have always been an important part of Nightwish, because the creative part in this band is so strongly on Tuomas' shoulders. They all have had different side projects outside the Nighwish, what they have been doing while they have been on break. Marko said once: "When you look at the years, where we've come from, the biggest thing about Nightwish was obviously Tuomas' songs and lyrics - that's why the people stayed. No matter who was the vocalist or anything, they stayed because of the quality of the songs and that's why we have success."
Honestly you are hard pressed to find a better singing duo than Floor & Marco. They complement each and even LIVE never step on one another no matter how complicated the song or lyrics are. NW doesn't write songs they write poems and stories that they put to music and with Floor they can create anything knowing she can sing anything the song needs. Another one of those rare bands that are actually better LIVE to experience.

Marko, yay! And Floor doing Floor things. What more could you ask? You don't have to ask because along with the others, Tuomas, Jukka and Emppu, you have such a great and unique team. This is one of my three favorite Nightwish songs, with "Song of Myself" and "Endlessness" being the other two. You'll get "Song of Myself" later on in the Wacken series. "Endlessness" isn't reacted to much because it's Marko's last song with the band and there is only a lyric video available, but I think it's a masterpiece.

It features Floor at her finest, and I mean jaw-droppingly finest. There may be some videos of her singing that on their tour that is just winding down but the lyric video is so good that it's all you really need.
Great stuff my friend. Tuomas writes most of the music (Marko helps) and lyrics for Nightwish. IMHO - This song is using metaphors and imagery heavily. The Ghost River is a metaphor to represent the journey of life we all must take to reach for our dreams and aspirations. Floor and Marko are singing from the perspective of a 3rd person omniscient point of view. Marko's lyrical parts are giving us all warning as young children at the beginning of our journey. Using many dark and foreboding metaphors regarding the river's ability to strip away our childhood innocence and darken our souls with all of the realities and responsibilities the come with adulthood. Floor is playing the role of the nurturing and supportive guardian angel inside us all encouraging us to make the journey (come across) and find the shore on the other side. The destination is worth the journey and we can never achieve our dreams unless we choose to make that dangerous and unpredictable ride. My favorite lines!
