I love UE products but in this case it'd be a form factor decision, while the JBL would be longer it's bulge would be easier to pack in a bag over the UE if all things were equal. If they were the same form factor then it might be different for me when it comes to sticking it in a backpack or laptop bag the diameter or the speaker is a factor while if I'm carrying it outside the bag it wouldn't be.

not sure yet, but I plan on testing the UE boom 4 soon. Boom 4 is on sale right now for $99 so probably the best time to get it
