The step father claims the mother told the son to shoot him. If this is true it wouldn't surprise me. These single mothers dragging their children, especially their sons, into their relationships is not healthy for anyone, especially the child. No matter how much the step father tries to be a substitute for the biological father the child is loyal to the mother. I can only imagine the responsibility that is placed on these boys shoulders when their mother is lacking in relationship. These boys are robbed of their childhood by their mothers.

I did the stepfather thing once and I don't regret it. I formed a lasting bond with a little girl and she calls me dad. I still raise her, BUT SHE IS THE SOLE EXCEPTION! My ex is Salvadorian and she always had a spirit of sacrifice. Even after we divorced, she never asked me for a penny nor tried to make me stay in that little girl's life. Most black women do not have that spirit of sacrifice. I would play stepdad every time for my little girl if I had to do it again. With that said, she is a one off situation and I will never entertain another single mother again. Most women are not worthy of having a husband to even play stepdad to their kids. That's just my opinion.

She really had issues with me from her ex and took a lot of it out on me. I still have love for her, but I realized that I don't have the mental health to just let a woman berate me for the remainder of my life. Before anybody says it, I never cheated and I was never abusive.

* I kinda fell under B, when I was a kid. My biological dad wanted nothing to do with me from birth, until I was 26 when he was on his deathbed 12 years ago. In the meantime, my step-dad was my dad, and he still is.

Step(on)Fathers-this is what it should be termed from here on out! I'm a bit older and I've witnessed two of my friends that married single mothers with kids. Both turned out horribly. My first friend was continually disrespected by his wife, he couldn't tell the kids what to do(they totally ran over him), received no support from wife and eventually came home to his wife having sex with her ex in their bedroom. Divorce was next and he was thrown out with absolutely nothing but his car and a broken heart. My other friend about the same. No respect from kids and wife. Wife sided with the children. Disrespected from ex. It was a total nightmare. I had to pray with and encourage both my friends, but I just wished they had listened and not got into these awful situations. This is the reason I liked when Kevin Samuels asked the single mothers, "Why didn't you marry the man you had kids with?". Even mothers back in my day would tell their daughters, "Okay, you had a baby with this man, now you are going to marry him!!!!".
