I accidentally switched the titles in the TAB. I say it correctly in the video but the "question" phrases have "answer" written above them and vice versa!
If I could send one instructional video (or better yet channel) back in time to myself 15 years ago this would honestly be it. Better now than 15 years from now! Thanks Christiaan.
Now this makes sense to me! Using short musical phrases and leading to home ( root ) Verse thinking up actual word Q&A Maybe I’ll get there but a good stick of musical phrases for now will work
Very nice. I have been trying to learn licks/phrases and no where have I seen a lesson on building an encyclopedia grouped by question and answer. Great advice- I had been doing something similar with some Eddie Costa piano solos. Quite challenging, as is Django. Just watching you go over these lines I can't help but wonder how Django played them with his 2 fingers. Shows what one can accomplish when you put in the hard work. Good luck on the project. You are on the right track by the samples in this video.
Thanks! This project is finished (part 2 and 3 are only available on my Patreon page!). I've started a new project about all the other songs Django recorded in Rome (free on RUclips).
@@ChristiaanvanHemert Oh great! Yes, that was what I was hearing. Thanks Christiaan. It was really bugging me. Had a similar experience once with a Stochelo Q phrase in rhythm changes that I finally twigged was from The Peanut Vendor.
@@FashionRecordsReggae Bingo! Wasn't aware of the tune but yes that's sounds 100% like it: www.google.com/search?q=we%27re+in+the+money+song&oq=We%27re+In+The+Money+song&aqs=chrome.0.0l6.7443j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
I'd say just experiment with all the phrases and see what you like. As you can tell from the examples in the video, many of the phrases do actually match!

Great stuff. Yes I was about to mention the switched titles.....
This channel has made gypsy jazz so much more intuitive to me than it was before. Everything is broken down so well
Great to hear. Thanks Logan!

Wow, thanks so much John!

You've excelled in this series and even more so with this lesson, cheers Christiaan.
Wow, thx a lot Stephen!
The thumb nail got me! I tried to get away 😂😂 but I came back, gg
Glad to hear a "quote" from the wonderful Italian RAI sessions (1949-50). Django at his best.
Yes!
I'm so glad I joined the van Hemert Institute. I quickly made back the 40,000 euros I spent for my teaching certificate. Thanks sensei!
Uuuh, you never paid tuition and you are ignoring our payment reminders!
@@ChristiaanvanHemert Well, the first motif sounds like "We're in the money". Apparently Denis is.

flipping brilliant. thanks for sharing your gifts
Thanks Bob!
Brilliant!
Great lesson
Great lesson!
Thanks!
The first lick is "we're in the money" from the Gold diggers of 1933 with Ginger Rogers. :)
Haha, good catch!
Great stuff!
Thanks!
I keep thinking that the simple motif question phrase is a quote from some old standard.
Any suggestions?
Maybe a little like "What Kind of Friend"? That's also a rhythm changes song.

Christiaan will u write a Django tab book
Perhaps one day though you can already get all the TAB on my Patreon page!
Great!
Thanks Victor!
The question and answer should match... I think. Any insight? Maybe we should look at Mozart et al for the answer...

I like the video. Clickbaity and slightly misleading title though.
Thanks. SLIGHTLY misleading? Haha, dude, all my titles are completely over the top misleading. That's the RUclips game.
You should learn how to play it yourself before presuming to teach others.
;) Thanks for the tip. Will take into serious consideration!
@peterlloyd5285: you seem to be a great chap. I hope your world tours are going great
lovely lesson
