Morissette is the queen of vocal breaks(cries, squeaks, growls, and whistles); all intentional, all perfectly executed. Everyone loves the Mori squeak, the first identifiable mark of her talent. She is a cover slayer, but I believe her best work is performed in her native tongue, Tagalog. Try "Akin Ka Na Lang" or "Gusto Ka Nang Bumitaw" to hear her at her best.
One of the things I love about her is her vocal breaks!

Consider that this is just an average Morissette performance - virtually everything she does is as impressive as this or even better. She can and does slay any style or genre with her 5+ octave range, precise vocal control, signature squeak transitions, incredible breath control enabling insanely long phrases on a single breath, and ability to transition seamlessly to whistle range, where she can do 15 second runs in one breath. That's why many of her fans consider her to be the best female pop vocalist in the world today.

Boy oh boy are you in for a wonderful ride. Akin Ka Na Lang is a great one to react. So to is her cover of I wanna know what love is. Another person/group to react to if you haven't already is an acapella group called Voice Play with Geoff Castallucci. The one that most people start with on them is Oogie Boogie Man but you really can't go wrong. Lastly, a young lady that I think is going to be someone special when she is older is Angelica Hale. She is only 16 now and while not as developed vocally as Morrisette, I can see her development for sure. Her cover of Easy on me is outstanding. Take care and look forward to your reactions.

Most Morissette fans will say she's the best female vocalist today. I'm definitely a fan... But I understand it's personal taste. Though my opinion is bias, I will stand up for my queen and say she is definitely in the running as one of the best ever vocalists that ever lived. I speak for myself only and I'm not taking anything away from all the other amazing artists out there... Rise Up acapella is great. Performed during the pandemic, at home, with the band 3rd Avenue. Though you can't go wrong with anything else she's done.
I've only heard one song so I can't form an educated opinion. MUST. HEAR. MORE.

Morissette has a good tone to her voice, but personally on this track I can hear a slight strain and I prefer her voice when it is in her lower register. Her breath control is slightly off in one or two places too.
I do not like perfection in a sense of really any kind of talent. It leads to fatigue and a short career. I hear you and I know what you are talking about. She's a very talented vocalist but still young and will improve.
@@mcflyjp I don’t believe in perfection, personally I don’t think it exists. I think she is very talented, but needs to watch because if her breath work isn’t right when she stretches for the note after the crack she’ll end up with nodules in her vocal cords.
Mori has come along way since then .this is about six yrs ago her voice has matured now and is one of the best vocalist around of this generation. 👑👌
This was like 6 to 7 yrs ago..she has improved a lot nowadays..her breath control now is superb.
