This was awesome thank you. The bit about not striking the toe because of the increase ground time (making it more difficult reach hip and knee extension) was interesting... I have never heard that before, so I will definitely look into it! Cheers from Ohio
Sprint training is the absolute best if you want to get a quick and intense full-body workout and you are nowehere close a gym/box. Chad's looking good. Keep it up
Really interesting. I would have liked a little bit of principles/context of sprinting, but the exercises look good. Might have been nice for Les to outline his credentials at the beginning - but I guess his quads are his calling card! Chad looking like Mr. Incredible out there!
On the dribbles, what is the appropriate way to contact the ground with foot? I have heard and seen heel to toe rolling contact and this looks more 85% of foot is hitting with slight heel off ground
Not a fan... Many of these drills look like Atlas or Jonas Dodoo. I'm a Charlie Francis purest not many fancy drills or exercises just good quality sprinting with a few simple cues....
@RARAYAYA RAA What is proper running form? Every athlete has their unique sprinting style - I'm not in the business of changing it unless they are doing something totally wrong/crazy. I use a few simple cues with my athletes. Smooth, up, over, and down. One of my favorite from Charlie was stepping down. I never was a world class sprinter - only ran 10.56 at 28yrs old but I like to keep things simple for my athletes while staying away from crazy drills. I compare these fancy drills to Olympic weightlifting - many coaches stay away from weightlifting because of the learning curve - well the same can be said about most drills.
Great point. Love simplicity. Jonas and Altis are great sources of information. The purpose of a drill is to teach posture, a pattern, then delivering power through that improved alignment. Teaching this at high speeds is difficult and dangerous, which is why we do drills walking to learn the basics. Charlie was a huge influence on my career but he took athletes on that already had a great deal of natural talent. How do you develop an athlete without that talent? Our coaching model teaches athletes how and where to contact the ground + progressively teaching them speed. Teaching projection, extension, switching etc are not things you can teach at full speed. Being a Charlie fan is great, but that’s like saying you love a typewriter when a new laptop has come out. That’s preference which you’re entitled to, but there might be a new or improved model since Charlie has passed
@@lesspellman3168 Couple things I would like to make clear. My post above wasn't a personal attack towards you or your training methods. I wouldn't consider myself an elite or high level athlete. I played mostly football in college and ran sprints mostly indoors. I took my 100m time 11sec+ starting in spring of 2008 to summer 2010 from 11's to 10.56 while training myself using all of Charlie advice from online products to his consultation services. What worked in 1980 still work in 2019 - I just don't value wickets or dribble and all of the fancy drills. The only fancy drill we may do is position starts from face down etc or your Mach series. I strongly believed in what Charlie once told me.... If the athlete is doing the right type of work and the right amount at the right time a lot of the technical issues will fall in place. Smooth, up, over, and down.. If a person just does those simple things everything else will pretty much take care of itself and the stride will resemble a nice and tight circle. Staying on the balls of the feet inherently will keep the hips elevated and eliminate over-striding and heel striking. Pushing down directly under the center of gravity will do the same. Allowing the off foot to come up towards the support knee will cure an assortment of other common mechanical problems. Relax and let it happen!!!
@RARAYAYA RAA Tell that to Justin Gatlin when he was with Trevor and Charlie. How did all these drills worked for Andre Degrasse? What are your times or how many athletes have you trained?
I don’t know where I have been but Chad is looking hella lean! Much healthier at this body weight, keep up the good work man
Tremendous instruction - quality content. Very thoughtful instruction. And Chad looking lean and mean!

If you watch the interview with Les, he says those guys are who he looked up to and learned from
