i remember years after playing the souls franchise me and my brother mentioned how there wasn’t a bonfire in senns, and my uncle just looked at us like we were stupid and said “there is a bonfire” i’ve never been so mad yet so amused before
I’m playing dark souls for the first time and I got so mad because I did just about everything in senns besides the iron golem and finally found out there was a bonfire off that damn edge
At least you knew there was a bonfire, I made my way like 30 times all the way from the beginning to the Iron Golem, my controller died after I finally beated him then I got humbled by a friend who defeated it in one go and told me about the bonfire 🥲
TBF, the location itself is very short.
It comes really close to the length, where there has to be a bonfire, but does not cross the line.
Absolute chad uncle
Do one on Tarkus, the first nice you'd normally meet since the undead merchant that shows that no matter how much armor you cover yourself in your still fallible to fall damage. XD
I think you actually take more damage the heavier you armour is
@@schmoop3660 thats how it works in Nioh 1 at least
ah, the original LetMeSoloHer
@@schmoop3660 that's ds2, ds1 doesn't consider weight for fall damage
Tarkus has entered the chat
The Iron Golem is a husk, hinting at inner glory that isnt there anymore just like the lord of cinder himself.
Please, PLEASE do one on the God, the Myth, the Legend, Black Iron Tarkus. You can't just talk about these iron golem without talking about the badass that can kill it in 3 hits.
Thank you for including Tarkus at the end. That was important.
The dude forgot to mention, Tarkus could solo him before "LetMeSoloHer" was a thing.
I don’t know why but I think its design is also really badass. Gigantic Knight Robot? Count me in!
Getting yeeted off the side of the map by that grab attack is always hilarious.
Much like the bells it’s a weeding out process for “applicants” to then travel to see Guinevere and except the “noble” quest to restore the flame
My weapons say noo, but my pyromancy says YES
It’s also interesting that as well as being a miniature reflection of the plot of the game, the themes of Sens Fortress which you have mentioned reflect the game itself. Literally everything you encounter is an empty preautomated code, the only ‘life’ you experience is messages left behind by other players who have been there before you. Also snakes. Snakes are there. What was I talking about?
I love how worlds such as Dark Souls, Bloodborn, and other dark, macabre, or Dark souls-like game tells stories with the environment, lore, and character design. Using the environment and visual storytelling, to convey a story or message, while any lore reflects and adds depth to the story and characters that reflect the state of the ruined world you wake up in.
And on this day I learned the Iron Golem has a grab attack.
Ah, yes. Sen’s Funhouse of OSHA Violations. Fun times.
Go get ‘em Tarkus!
I have never linked the flame. If another poor sod is going to have to do it all over again for all eternity, then I think it would be better if Lordran just learned to live in the dark.
I wonder what could hava been Skyen's reactions to this boss falling of the cliff
Never heard how sens fortress was such a good example of storytelling through level design.
I wouldnt have agreed with this point until i heard you talk about it.
Tarkus, Tarkus, Tarkus, TARKUS, TARKUS, TARKUS!
I didn’t notice he had a hole in his chest
I don't know how Indiana Jones does it 😂
I Can't wait for Ornstein and Smough
In the words of the game's true protagonist, "like moths to the flame"
*summons tarkus* oh no the Golem (pretend horror)
There’s also another aspect to think about. This may be the first in the trilogy but it’s interesting that the iron golem is an enemy with a hole in his chest to denote that it’s hollow.
A motif that is repeated quite a bit later on in DS3 the one that story more closely links to the first one.
I Never thought about Sens Fortress Like that Cool analogy
as well as the dumbassery that is the iron Golem able to just fall of the boss arena
I heard sens compared to a mini zelda dungeon recently. "From soft does zelda" I think was the phrase he used. Interesting perspective
I never link the fire and I always kill anything thats not human.
In my view, the Lords and Giants in Dark Souls only did what they did to preserve their power and for nothing else. They dont care about humanity’s wellbeing, using them as pawns, and in the end, who do they throw the burden of linking their flame and power to? Humans. In a cursed way. Whats even more interesting is that even in their golden age, Lordran is disgusting in its every crevice. The Demon Ruins, Lost Izalith, Blighttown, and the endless sprawl of former villages within the walls ruled by Undead. If this is the result of the Fire going on, it cant possibly be the right thing to do
Put that shield away! 😂😂😂
I remember before digging deep into Dark Souls that Blight Town was awful. But idk nothing prepared me for Sen's Fortress and it's design
The iron golem kinda looks like if the giants had worn armor, chest hole and all
ah Sens fortress brings back old memories
My favorite locale in any Fromsoft game and the gold standard against which I measure all others.
Corrupted golem of Prague also.
these shorts are like crack
Yeah, they go up you nose
they fuck you up big time
It's the format in it's entirety that's made to give you that hit of dopamine because you finished a video and learned something
So yeah
i always thought that the true purpose was to ward off the undead while not reavling gwens sin
Agreed. Do not link the fire.
Still slightly upset he didn't get to experience Tarkus in his glory. If he ever checks out the clips from SBFP, that's the best reaction I think.
Iron Golem Axe is my favorite weapon.
Amazing sort mate
No way you actually fought him without just sending him off the cliff Lmfao
I get how you found these amazing representations and metaphors, but do you really think the writers consider this as they create it? I think people just find their own theories and parallels and put them together. Some things are possibly on purpose, but a lot of DS theories I hear, I just think, sure, that sounds good, but I doubt it was intentional.
That’s the genius of these games, Fromsoftware are amazing at painting narratives, it’s baked into every part of their work
They purposefully make stuff like this open ended
Why we can still have discussions YEARS after the fact
@@notebooks6461 it does make the theories fun
Iron Tarkus SOLOS
I don't know who Sen is, but if I find him....
gorgeous perspective! the lore is super cool
Ok but who is sen tho?
Greeting!
Preiss algorithm gods!
Cool easter egg to minecraft. But minecraft's one has far better crous control.
If it's "just an automata" then why does it bleed?
Fuck, man. I didn't look at Dark Souls on a small scale before.
I have to now, though.
Good points. But if the golem is truly hollow, why does it bleed? Dead flesh doesnt bleed
These are always so good, but I don’t believe the developers intended most of your thoughts. It’s just the way you paint it that’s convincing.
It's Dark Souls, a lot of metaphors like the ones he mentions here are in the series.
I aways loved Sean Fortress in the same way that i hated orstein and smough
When I first faced the iron golem he was really easy i defeated him quickly
but why snakes?
Seath the Scaleless
But who the fuck is Sen
Jeg går udfra du fik gode dansk karaktere
The most boring boss in the game, I remember sens fortress very well but I totally forgot that, that was the boss
I hate sens castle snakes suck
I wonder what could hava been Skyen's reactions to this boss falling of the cliff
