hey man!! This is one of my favorite comments, in fact I will pin this comment because I like it so much!! The nitrogang is happy! I love the RC history the most, anybody could run an RC, but to me they are works of art and are a design time capsule if you look at it that way. Years from now, I highly doubt people will be discussing the design of the multiple 3-6S arrma rcs out there, LOL.
This just happened to me with my Tmaxx 3.3. Since I watched this video I knew what not to do. Thanks for taking one for the team hybrid!! This is how I removed it without breaking the backplate. I used an 18mm deep socket to place the backplate on, and used a punch to drive the one way bearing off. The socket allows the starter shaft to fall into in, but holds the backplate from moving. The socket puts the load on the round part of the backplate, instead of the flat sides like hybrid did. This allowed removal without breaking the backplate. Saved some $$$. Thank you hybrid for your videos they help a nitro noob a ton!!!
Brother thank you for the shout out! My mom was just happy as can be when she found that magazine for ya. She said you think Hybrid would like this hahha I knew you would! Great video man! I have no idea why anyone would dislike this!! 🤝🔧🔧🔧

hey buddy! Glad to have helped you out! Lets keep our Nitros on the road as long as we can. I love being the only dude who drives a nitro these days, the electrics will never understand! They will never hear a 2-speed shift either, SO SAD, lol. NItrogang!
Been in this hobby for 13years. Shift from nitro to electric to gas and now nitro again. I missed the tinkering. Fixing etc. Now i am into racing, buggies truggies. And yes nitro baby!
Wow. Never thought I would see a stuck one way B. I only had a slipped bearing but not stuck. What a relief. I stay away from 2.5 from I heard they heat up quick but not the 2.5R. 3.3 I like better and my .12 OS red head.
hey my dude! Yes, this was the first time I've ever seen a one-way bearing be fully stuck on the shaft like that. Usually they just slip and it's fixable. I read alot of stuff on the 2.5 and the 2.5R and it seems only the cooling head was different, they are the same internally, it was just traxxas marketing, lol. I totally agree, the old OS 12 is a awesome motor, I have 2 of them myself, and they still run fine.
My local hobby shop owner, here in Rochester NY, told me that traxxas is the one nitro engine you have to break-in precisely according to the instructions
hey bro! How you been! I mean, he has a point, but that could be said about anything in this hobby. Honestly, the traxxas break-in method is pretty standard, so it's not something mind blowing, you know. He probably just says that because he knows chances are the noob doing the break in has a 50% chance of winding up breaking the motor within the first quart of fuel, due to not doing a break in at all.
@@hybrid32494 I'm not bad at all man. Currently working on getting a nova cx12 in my RC10GT. Probably won't get to enjoy it until next year. I saw your video from a couple of weeks ago where you were like " I pay the taxes and the roads are still garbage" It made me laugh but felt kind of bad at same time. I do know the feeling. Anyways maybe next year I will take a dive into the traxxas nitro world!
hey my dude! thanks! Yup, my only popular video, lol, that Primal MT. It must be the youtube algorithm pushing it, because the other vids on that same truck are equality as popular as any other video I've made.
Hay bro, have a quick question, on your 3 channel flysky transmitter. Does it have a Fail-Safe? I put a arrma mega system in a very old hydro boat, and am using flysky like yours. If I turn off remote it goes wide open. And we all know that's not good.
Hey man, think of the fail safe as nothing more than a pre-programmed state for each channel. Your failsafe is set to the wrong position on your throttle channel (usually channel 2). You need to set your fail safe settings to neutral on all electrics and brake on all nitro and gas cars. Follow up with me on here if you need more advice bro.
Use a large soldering iron to heat up the part that you need to expand homie, throwing this whole thing in the oven is just expanding all the parts at the same rate thus normally not loosening anything, good video
Sometimes what happenes in rtr backplate starting systems, in a worse case scenario, the one way bearing and shaft that connects to the connecting rod will vibrate and come lose and hit the connecting rod. Sometimes breaking the starting shaft and sending pieces of metal all over inside the engine. Sometimes even snapping the connecting rod. In this case it looks like only the one way bearing failed. Avoid excessive rpms from a bad tune and you should be fine. Sometimes this happens too; from excessive pressure from flooding the engine, Sometimes they’ll even just do it anyways, I’ve seen some engines get destroyed by this. It happened to me before with a old KE .25 that I had with a pull-start on it. It never happened to me on a hpi .25 with a backplate starter, (only one-bearing failure from use) so not all backplate starting systems are bad. On some of the monster trucks there’s no other way to start it
hey my dude! You now see that you gotta always have a revo or a t-maxx, right!! I'm right there with you, I've got many 1/5 gas rcs, but you just want a nice 2-speed nitro once in a while. the Nitrogang is happy to have you back with us!!
hey man! The right answer is yes! There is a thin Teflon looking like washer between the backplate and the one-way bearing, you can even see it in the exploded views if you care to really dig deep. I did not put it on when I rebuilt this thing, because I figured it didn't help in the first place, and it's already super snug on that shaft. We will see if it does anything. Also no other nitro motor I've worked on has a washer between the backplate and the bearing to begin with.
I bought a wpl b36 and I put some new metal driveshafts on it and even when i screw em on i even em on the flat side of the shaft. What is wrong with it the truck is brand new
hey Buddy, I've got the WPL B36 RTR and have never upgraded anything on mine, its still fine. I would say the upgrade parts you bought just don't fit, this is the main reason I stopped upgrading those cheap RCs, the upgrade parts quality are terrible and mostly a waste of money. You gotta sometimes make them fit by shaving and or trimming pieces. I've often found all WL TOYS and WPL upgrade parts are supreme JUNK!
At least it wasn't the motor but what an annoying problem to have on a new rc. I've had one way bearings go but never seize to the shaft. Great repair for a nitro gang member.
hey man! Yes, these things are not cheap, no disagreeing with you there my dude. At least these have very good resale value down the line, and all parts are easy to find and simple to work on (for the most part). Wait until the second part of this video, this thing is gonna ru!!!.
hey man!! Yes, many people who run traxxas for a long time wind up getting a pull start motor. Although in this case the bearing would still have been there, really no way to avoid that. In the next part you will see the full repair and first start again!
When dealing with issue's like that metal on metal use a torch because heat make's metal expand so you only want to heat the one piece you want to remove by doing that the piece will expand off of the other if you heat it all up then all part's will expand and it won't work
2 speed baby 👊👊👍, loved this video, it was so satisfying watching how easy that engine came out, amazing, I now zero apprehension of having to do the same, should the need arise
Honestly people should just steer clear of Traxxas nitros man. All the common issues are north worth 400-500 bucks. I just broke in my friend's Inferno ST today and he has been running it all day long without issues!

He should actually call the traxxas help line you get a tech person and usually they tell you to mail the motor to them. But traxxas customer service is junk.
hey bro!! Yes, usually you wind up waiting a while and mailing the block into them yourself, and covering the postage ofcourse. Then usually they will tell you to purchase another one, or charge you labor to work on anything wrong with it. I figured why not e-mail them and see what happens, either way I would have fixed it for the Nitrogang!! lol.

You should replace the starter motor because if it was engaging the starter motor the whole time it probably wore down the brushes in the starter motor
I officially hate 1way berrings. There is one on my losi lst that is used for the 1st gear and it completely seized half way through a tank and it stripped out my low speed spur gear. Had this issue before on my dad's lst. Now mine now has the issue. No problem though. Have the berrings here just need the spur Wich it like 5$ but i couldn't drive my car with my friends camping this weekend
hey my dude! Yes, these one-way bearing are often the reasons we run into problems. It's pretty rare for them to go in the trans though, could be an LST issue design flaw, you know. Because they are basically on all 2-speeds, and I've yet to see one fail there, usually they fail by the backplate because it's exposed to extreme heat and oils. Good luck with the repair, and I want an LST btw, that's one truck I have never owned or driven.
So that is a common issue the one way bearing fail , humm i wonder if that was maybe also what was causing the stutter ? I really would like to see you go back to the red cat ?
Hey bro your friends traxxas looks like your blue tamiya the old one bro with the pressure pump on the gas tank and your tmaxx looks sweet bro its supper high like a monster truck you should put a big block or a nice alpha 28
hey my dude! yes, you're talking about my Tamiya terra crusher, the one with that blue body. These were direct competitors back in the day, it was serious battle between them both. I also love monster trucks, the best segment of RC in my opinion.

hey!! LOL. I will be doing a small mention of that seized revo in the second part of this video, so I have not forgotten about it. lol. Nitrogang has just been busy, you know. This stuff is much tougher and more time consuming that simply reviewing the newest boring electric arrma's you know! ahaha. hey my dude! The clips you saw in this video was from a (Part 2) video from last week, and there was also one before that when we were doing slow break-in runs. At the point of when the owner told me the engine seized up the motor has like half a gallon through it. Nitrogang, thanks for watching bro, and following up.
Traxxas Has a program where you can give them your old motor and you get one for $100. I thought you would know That nitro gang. Call traxxas as you can get one for a 100 bucks. You are welcome.
hey buddy! The Nitrogang knows all about the 50% traxxas engine replacement warranty. Watch this video again at 4:45 and you will hear me talking about the traxxas engine replacement warranty. BTW, they charge you 50% of retail price, but you only get the block itself, meaning you need to re-use many of your own engine accessories, obviously, including the carb. Basically the same price as a brand new complete dynamite .19 drop-in motor.
hybrid32494 that sucks. More Traxxas shenanigans. Overpriced but i will say that Traxxas support rocks. Have a local hobby shop down the road. Almost all Traxxas. Up here in Colorado nitro power isn’t that great. I stick with brushless but maybe I’ll get a T Max’s someday. Still love watching your channel
hey man! Awesome, that's a classic original one of these trucks. I've never owned a pro 15 t-maxx, maybe one day I will be lucky to find one. Nitrogang!!
Traxxas has one of the worst customer services and Traxxas motors are complete JUNK! Although that being said, the 3.3 does make sick power while it last. NITRO is KING 👑

hey bro!! The Nitrogang is happy to have you with us, and I agree! I stand out with my first nitro around the same age as you did, back in the early 2000's. IT will never die, because I'm quite sure I will still own nitros 20+ years from now, no matter what!!
You should replace the starter motor because if it was engaging the starter motor the whole time it probably wore down the brushes in the starter motor
Wait for the 3rd part 😁😁😁 she is pretty dam good!
yes bro!! Part 3 this beast will be running!! and the most famous and best tuned pipe brand "CVEC" will be tested on this. Nitrogang!!!
Cool clip...
@@hybrid32494 ya maby. The berrings is verry similar to one way berrings on pull starts and stuff and it is 10 years old so it had its life
So that is a common issue the one way bearing fail , humm i wonder if that was maybe also what was causing the stutter ? I really would like to see you go back to the red cat ?
I miss my nitros I have a tmaxx .15 and I love that truck
hey my dude!! that's right! you cannot not miss your nitros!! I'm looking at one of my revos right now as I'm typing this. lol.
The email is the EXACT words found in the manual lol
Hey bro your friends traxxas looks like your blue tamiya the old one bro with the pressure pump on the gas tank and your tmaxx looks sweet bro its supper high like a monster truck you should put a big block or a nice alpha 28
hey my dude! yes, you're talking about my Tamiya terra crusher, the one with that blue body. These were direct competitors back in the day, it was serious battle between them both. I also love monster trucks, the best segment of RC in my opinion.
@@hybrid32494 my truck is the HSP tornado 1/8 scale I wonder if we put ur two trucks against mine if they will be same size and hight I like the clearance on your truck bro nice an high
Good info brother!
hey bro!! Thanks! I sent you a cool car pix I saw today on ur gram, I know you will 100% appreciate it.
Yo this is the fellow gang Nigel member Jezzee RC I will make some video soon and eventually get a Tmax what happen with that transmission was in the starting assembly the easy start one of the screws came loose a little bit and block the whole flow of the engine and starter for moving other than that it’s a great reliable engine and car truck let’s get some videos of the MGT 8.0 as well love you brother I’m still breathing and drinking and eating the nitro day and night nitro love forever piece
Congratulations to ya!!!!
thanks man!! My only really popular video, lol. The nitrogang is less popular but it matters the most to me!! more on this T-maxx soon, plus I will be test fitting a classic CVEC pipe.
TRAXXAS TOUGH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Th T_MAXX will never die! Chances are I'll still be doing videos on it 20 years from now, not kidding!! I will mark this down in a calendar 20 years from now, we will see what's up then!
@@hybrid32494 I was going to get the T Maxx 2.5 but instead went with the Rustler because of money but I still love it. ( I am only 15 years old) BOY using my moms account!!!!:) I wonder what Kevin Talbot will do LOL!!
Just sitting here rebuilding an engine wishing it was nitro
You would hope traxxas paid for the parts as it was a new purchase,
hey bro! NOPE, neither of us contacted traxxas ever again after that initial e-mail. It was easy enough to just work on it myself. But I would really be interested to follow up and even show them this video and see how they react. Anyway, the part 2 video on the repair comes out in 2 days from now. Nitrogang!!!
New channel name "Cooking with Hybrid32494"
GO ELECTRIC LIL G!
Wassup nitrogang!
hey bro!! whats up!! The nitrogang is here, and working on the second part of this video right now! We gonna be putting this back together soon and testing out a classic CVEC pipe.
NITRO GANG T Maxx baby
Hi nitro gang I'm a nitro dave from across the pond my tmaxx is original I've had it over 20 years and still going strong only one problem the shell is knackered anyone got one thanks guys
hey dude! what's up!! Welcome to the Nitrogang! We sit around and discuss the greatness of the T-maxx, lol. Then we tear it up. In part 2 of this video you will see the full repair and I got a special surprise, I will test run a brand new CVEC pipe! One of the best pipe brands in the hobby.
I got out of nitro RC, cars became a money pit. I'd fix one thing and something else would go the same day. I don't bash my truck either.
Nitrogang!
Hey man, you gotta finish that revo 3.3 seized motor.
Or I’m un subscribing
Jk 😁
Nitro gang!
hey!! LOL. I will be doing a small mention of that seized revo in the second part of this video, so I have not forgotten about it. lol. Nitrogang has just been busy, you know. This stuff is much tougher and more time consuming that simply reviewing the newest boring electric arrma's you know! ahaha. Lets face it the Traxxas XO-1 from over 10 years ago was faster than any of the new arrma on-road cars, so what's the big deal about those retro bodies, who cares!!
I run nitro jato 3.3 baby 🤠
welcome to the Nitrogang!! That's what's up!! You saw that pic of me with my JATO 3.3 right!! BTW< special surprise for this T-maxx in the next part, a damn CVEC pipe BABY!!!
Just curious, you said he was breaking the engine in, but it looked more like a bash session to me 🤔 fill me in #nitrogang
hey my dude! The clips you saw in this video was from a (Part 2) video from last week, and there was also one before that when we were doing slow break-in runs. At the point of when the owner told me the engine seized up the motor has like half a gallon through it. Nitrogang, thanks for watching bro, and following up.
@@hybrid32494 ahhhhh ok, much love
I LIKE TRAXXAS T MAXX AND TOP FUEL
Stay away from traxxas top fuel
what's up Tony
hey my dude!! T-maxx Tony is here! Having coffee and responding to comments, lol. living the True life, you know.. JK.
Traxxas Has a program where you can give them your old motor and you get one for $100. I thought you would know That nitro gang. Call traxxas as you can get one for a 100 bucks. You are welcome.
He did said it
He knows that at the bottom of the video it tells you about their lifetime warranty
hybrid32494 that sucks.
Would rather get the .19t and not have to worry about the con rod failing like traxxas's designed to fail ones
One-way bairing. Thats what happened to me
I have a TMaxx pro 15
hey man! Awesome, that's a classic original one of these trucks. I've never owned a pro 15 t-maxx, maybe one day I will be lucky to find one. Nitrogang!!

👍🏻
hey Gary!! thanks man! T-maxx forever!! Ofcourse rovan baja and Dragsters too, lol, right!
Traxxas has one of the worst customer services and Traxxas motors are complete JUNK! Although that being said, the 3.3 does make sick power while it last. NITRO is KING 👑
Nitro pizza
whats up man!! LOL. Nothing better than a nitro pizza, but I'll take a Nitro burger too, if that's what it comes to. LOL. NItrogang!!
Using a nitro is the equivalent to being that guy with acura Integra with a loud big ass muffler thinking your cool with blue h.i.d's.!!
Why are you even here..go somewherr else to troll...pitty...pitty my guy😂🤣😅😯
I can do it in a minute no joke
