The Border Dispute Revealed | Abandoned Stone Houses in Alaska | Destination Adventure

- This story has been in the back of my mind for a year now, and I am so excited to share it with you all. Last year I explored a location that was supposed to contain remains from when Russia occupied Alaska. The location was fantastic, and the audience was amazed, but one viewer was not convinced. I received an email stating that the location could have been from the Canada Alaska border dispute, from the late 1800's. This was the first I had ever hear of this story, and after doing some deep digging, I believed the gentleman may be correct. This is a part of history between Canada and USA that is not taught, and rarely even discussed, so proving which story was correct would be a challenge.
The ruins I had filmed were from one of four apparent storehouses built in the 1890's by the army corp of engineers, so I thought a comparison to another of the structures would prove which story is correct. Finding this structure was a bit more challenging than the previous, but upon arrival it was obvious that the other gentleman was correct. The two structures are incredibly similar, with only one exception, the stone gable. I also stopped and filmed the one in Hyder Alaska, which is the only of the four that has been restored. At this point, I have been able to film storehouse 1, 3 and 4, so I think a visit to storehouse 2 will be necessary in the near future.

Sitting down with a hot cup of coffee and watching a new episode of Destination Adventure on my TV is the best part of my weekends.
That is literally how I start my Saturdays too LOL
Likewise! Sipping on a hot cup of joe as we speak! :)
Same here! 😁
I'd like to hear more about your username.
Doin exactly the same here in North Vancouver.
I can't imagine all the prep, stopping, going, etc that it takes to get all these different shots.
Absolutely incredible what he does!!!:)
I get tired just from thinking about the effort, let alone actually doing it.
@@d_rock_t Same here and just dreaming and living vicariously through him in every way!
it's a TON of work!
Congratulations on your success Dustin. This has been my favorite channel for a while and I've been pulling for you. Take care.

Thousands of years old ice cube in an ice cold drink!! Love it!! Thanks for everything you do!! Awesome stuff!!
As someone who lived in Nass Camp, now in ontario, thank you for bringing me home. And my hunny is laughing at me because I actually teared up seeing the lava beds.
That's nothing to be ashamed of.
Been here a long time and staying around for the long haul. Just the best adventures and human doing it. Appreciate every ounce of hard work. It's soul filling and peace giving! ❤
Thank you so much. I’m honoured to have you along :)
My wife for 51 years just pasted away this video lifted my spirits thanks for your wonderful videos.
I find all of Destination Adventure episodes powerful. I feel a weightlessness sometimes to the breathtaking beauty you capture. I also laugh my keister off when I least expect it. Oh and the soundtracks are always perfect! Dustin your work is appreciated beyond measure. Thank you.
Gin and Tonic on ancient Rocks , so apropos. And the weather , just adds to the ambiance - living the good Life. Nass Valley - worth googling everybody. Another amazing video Dustin. Glad I got to experience this area in my lifetime too - definitely calls one back.
The gin and tonic with glacial ice is classic, well done sir, hats off.
been watching your material since its infancy, have to say the quality and your skills in videography have improved so much . Thank you for your record of our amazing Province. It is always a thrill seeing a different perspective on places I love to explore and others I have not yet. Keep it real and do not go the route of so many RUclips channels that resort to gimmicks and click bait.
AGREE,,,,,,,,,, he needs to stay the same !
Bearitory, overcast, foggy ambiance = Priceless perfection! Another Stellar video filled with picturesque beauty at its finest.

Wow those glaciers are beautiful it’s to hot here in Australia for glaciers
Man you have one of my favourite channels on RUclips, I live not far from you probably 6 hours away in Alberta. I would love to see the places you go, what an incredible life. Anyways I've always wanted to tell you about the missed opportunity not calling your channel Dustination Adventure hah. Look forward to your Saturday adventure videos all week brother 🤙🏽🤙🏽
I lived in Pr Rupert back in the late 60's, early 70's and hunted, fished and camped all over that area. In those days Bear Glacier came right to the lake Thanks for the memories !
I hope all the people in BC & Alaska truly appreciate their surroundings. Unbelievable beauty going on there. Thank you for another awesome video. 😊
Every time I step out the door.. Truly an amazing place.
Oh I do. I grew up in Stewart B.C. It's a place I'll always call home.
Literally just took the exact same route for the first time these last two weeks to visit Alaska for the first time.
Was super cool seeing you drive through the awesome places I got to experience! Safe travels dude!!
Drone Footage and Scenic Vistas are the best I have ever seen !!! Left North Carolina for a job in Anchorage Alaska in 2015. Was advised by Visitors center in Edson, BC to take Scenic Route through Jasper to see the Canadian Rockies up close. Best advice I ever got ! Wound up driving the Cassiar Highway all the way to Watson Lake. That was "THE TRIP" of my Lifetime!!! Thanks for making New Memories of Beautiful British Columbia. Red Skies at night ! Bosun Bob.
WOW a drink made with glacier ice🍸Now that's AWESOMENESS!!!!
That may be the coolest opening for an opening video I’ve ever seen taking ice from what appears to be a glacier with some Tangueray and tonic and just sitting there having a drink way cool this is what I love about the Canadians. Well done northern brother.
This was a epic adventure !Enjoying my coffee like other followers of your channel and can’t wait till next Saturday for yet another video! Safe travels 👍🇨🇦
Good morning!! Breaking off the ice for the drink was epic!
When i worked at Tenijon mine up the hill one of the glacier lakes broke and there was ice all the way down to Hyder and we would pick a chunk to keep our beer cold for after work, would last for days it was so dense.
Thanks Dustin, made my Saturday night so much better before heading to bed 😊
* "Glacier Ice Gin+Tonic !!! And Drone Flying Over The Glacier Footage ! Coolest Intro In A While ! I watch your vids on my 75" 4k and it's amazing ! Sometimes your long shots bring tears to my eyes. Dustin You ARE Living The Dream ! 👊😎👍
Well, atleast I'm not going to go hungry this time! Lol Thanks for the adventure Dustin!
Hello from the somewhat less smoky south Okanagan, thanks for taking us along once more. My goodness I could tell a couple stories about locking myself out of the truck alright. It's easy to laugh about it now, less easy to laugh up on the side of the mountain for sure. All the best and safe travels.
Absolutely stunning!
Thanks again for sharing.
Saturday with Destination Adventure - wonderful !! Gill 🇬🇧
Love your show! I've been watching for a year or so. I will spread the word!
I lived up there for 6 months while my husband taught grade 4 in Laxgalts’ap , and I drove the high school kids to New Aiyansh. Beautiful part of the world. We landed there January 1997 days after the snow storm of 96 !! In a Toyota 4 runner with a 18 month old boy in the back seat , from the gulf islands . What an adventure, learned to snow shoe ,exploring the the Lava field, fishing in Lizard lake. We left at the end of the school year via cranberry connection. The roads have drastically improved ❤. Planning to return in my teardrop next year 🙏
thank you for your videos Dustin. you'll never know how much peace and joy they bring me :)

Super-cool vid. Nice job trekking down that store-house.
When you get to Rupert, go to Gary's Lock Shop at 617 2nd ave w. Get yourself some proper spare keys cut. Bring your camera. His store is like a museum.
Then see if you can get out to Oona river on Porcher Island. That's an adventure.

Always love a great Saturday morning video. Excellent works as always. Thanks Dustin!
Great videos! I just found your channel and have been watching all weekend. Your drone shots are spectacular and the music selections go perfectly. Great videos, thank you 😊
I can't begin to explain how large of an impact your videos have made on me, I started watching your videos a couple years ago when I was around 15 or 16. The first video I watched was when you uploaded the video about the marble quarry in the kootenays, which coincidentally is just down the road from my cabin. Ever since I watched that video I have become like a magnet to a fridge. I haven't missed a single video of yours, and now I feel as if I have a very strong emotional connection to your videos that is very hard to describe. I recently showed your channel to my parents, and every Saturday morning we all sit together on the couch and indulge in the absolutely breathtaking views, and laughs we all have together. Thank you Dustin, you've strongly impacted the way I look at the world, my life would be different in a very negative way without your videos.

This is incredibly nice to read. Thank you so much for enjoying the show and for such a kind message. I’m honoured to have been able to help.
Yeah, you're channel has grown! I found you last year and you've gained i think 50k subs since i've been watching. Way to go my man!!
Excellent intro. A beautiful toast to Mother Nature, she has stolen your heart so that’s why it’s so hard to decide on what part of her you love the best. The end of the video pretty funny sorry about the getting locked out but sh_ t happens. 🤣🤣. Love the adventure and thanks as always.

Your videography is a amazing. To follow you down the road to places in BC that I have been, as a 72 year old life long resident, refreshes in me, what a beautiful province we live in. Off to the Nechako tomorrow to catch up with friends and explore where home was for 18 years. Thanks, Dustin for going down those roads less travelled

Another amazing video. I love the intro with Tangeury on icefield! lol No matter what's on your face, it looks good! Sorry about getting locked out! xo
Yet again, another great video. So much beautiful scenery - just brightens my day and life. I am not as much of a lover of being on the water as you are. I like looking at it, but am not super comfortable when I’m on it. So I always get a little nervous for you when you’re out of the water. 😊 Looking forward to more videos, and more beauty, and learning.
Those gorgeous views! I swear, the footage you have, the editing you do, is better than National Geographic. You take us to places even they aren't going and I'm in awe every time.
