It's amazing James Reyne can still hit those notes in the chorus. Still sounds just as good as he did 40 years ago.
Awesome. Simple, grooving guitars and great melody, harmony - just great vocals.
So glad my late teens and 20's were spent in this era where you could go to the pub and see great artists like this almost any night of the week. Best era of music!
Yeah. Aussie expat living abroad for decades. Rediscovering the music that made my young DNA. Truly timeless elegance.
I remember when there were goats at the lighthouse at Byron, days you could surf and sleep under the stars
10:03 for the song :) Whole video is worth a watch though!
Best of the best
James & Pete 🤺🤺
That was beautiful guys what a trio
I could get used to these ... very relaxing and enjoyable...a real treat
This is in Australian musical rock DNA stuff!
Downhearted on sons of beaches best version original 💯🤙
Classic Aussie song. Never gotten tired of it in 40 years!
Gee he’s such an upstanding gentleman. Pete and Josh, you really bring the goods to the table with your own backgrounds and success. It was such a pleasure to see and hear this.
This is pure magic. Only discovered this series of interviews/perfomances tonight but I've become addicted. Love this rendition of 'Downhearted' and love the poetry of "broken river". Marrys well with theme of the song.
onya pete, good stuff
Legends, two of the best 🤩🙏
Legends!!!..Made my Sunday...👍❤
Loved it!
Just brilliant 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍👍
What a great song!
Great interview Pete
Wow! So great guys! This episode is amazing 🤩
I’m 54 years old and I’m lucky I seen the video for Daughters of The Northern Coast on our local video channel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin…….not on MTV but this crappy local channel! Man the 1980’s were awesome
Just wow!!🧡👍🏽
Very beautiful thanks
❤
Awesome, great interview and such an incredible version, love it!!!
Come to SXSW or ACL in Austin please ✌️🤙
If we never dance again my favorite song atm. Renewed my interest in Pete Murrays music. If you see this Pete I found the Sunday Sessions and love them!
What a vid!
Wow! 😲 love this 😊
Great stuff!
And, you know, Josh is an awesome artist in his own right.
He was on the mid-level independent scene on the same tour circuit I was in during the early-mid 2000’s.
And I also always thought the lyric was “Broken river never really started!!”
Yep. me too .
Beautiful, just beautiful
So good. Aussie music at it's best
Just brilliant
great
Thanks for these Pete ❤️❤️
Four tv channels indeed; Seven, Nine, Ten and SBS.
the most incredible musician in this video is the most unknown.
Whaaat? I thought the same, always thought it was " broken river..." too
SENSACIONAL 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
That was beautiful
Fantastic!!😊
Great little piece of Aussie rock history
Funny how James didn't give a shit about the lyric change
Thats the Aussie larican attitude that has sadly been lost in our culture
Nice job guys
Much respect from a fellow muso
Noiiiiiiice!
Very niiiice!
Haha I always thought it was "broken rhythm never really started"
For years I thought the lyrics were broken reason never really started
Brilliant
Legend James, t thought it was broken rythem 😄
PEARL!!
🗣👣🗣👣🗣👣🗣
"Broken dreams that never started" is better. Sorry :D
Much more poignant. Much more heart achy.
My memory from all these years. And my daughter's, so generational.
Downhearted. Broken dreams that never really started. Perfect.
"Broken river"? Nope
Without Josh Owen it would sound good …..with him it’s great
Interesting. Look at the shit on RAGE these days.
It is a real pity that these 2 have to hold him with a sense of awe. He was a good musician, but nothing all that special. He was absolutely correct in stating the reason why they have this behaviour - the internet has fucked music. The young people today have no soul.
Who are you referring to as “a good musician but nothing special”?
@@jamesgray7576 His ego was bigger than his music
@@thomaselliott573 Hardly.
At 65, James is one of the nicest blokes you could ever hope to meet.
@@jamesgray7576 are you really hard? Ok. Love him all you lie / like. The guy was so self-enamoured it was embarrassing
@@thomaselliott573 Was?
Ok, indulge me.
Seemingly your experience was has been vastly different to mine. How long ago was this and what were the circumstances?
Lovely three guitars …….but Fck Josh Owen has it handled
