    Lake Michigan is big & DANGEROUS.. I fell asleep in my kayak and woke to 20 Mph winds about three four miles out.. I couldnt get back to shore..was paddling in place for an hour.. Prayers were getting serious.. i had my phone & GPS it took the coast guard a while to find me..

      @@stevenshoemaker8326 I did have one tall can of beer.. it was sunny and had the anchor down.. winds are totally unpredictable and it was only 15 mph..
      Believe me, it was enough to get me out there fast .. I'm doubling the size of the anchor ⚓.. but in a sandy bottom .. won't matter.

      @@EasyGrowin420 it was a perfect day.. had the anchor ⚓ down 👎 sandy bottom won't hold you if it's windy.. lake Michigan has claimed more lives than all Great lakes combined.. the wind pushes you out there.. without a decent motor it could happen

    They count the hight as the wave hits something not the actual 3 foot wave

    Why? Its not the sea .In switzerland we have sometimes Föhn , a strong wind from the mountais but not in such way as in this lake

      Actually, this does happen every so often. There have been a few cases of the waves reaching Lake Shore Drive.

      How is it global warming, when it just was the first day of fall. Plus the temperatures dropped?? The great lakes have always had gale forced winds. In the fall and in the winter. I live in Michigan I've seen it my whole life.
