हरिस्मृतिः सर्वविपत्ति-तारिणी ।
गुरुस्मृतिः सर्वसमृद्धि-कारिणी ।।
अच्युतानन्त गोविन्द नामोच्चारणभेषजात् (भीषिताः)। नश्यंति सकला रोगाः सत्यं सत्यं वदाम्यहम्।।
ಅಚ್ಯುತಾನಂತ ಗೋವಿಂದ ಎಂಬ ಮೂರು ನಾಮಗಳ ಸ್ಮರಣೆಯಿಂದ ಭಗವಂತನು ಎಲ್ಲ ದುಃಖಗಳನ್ನು ಕಳೆಯುತ್ತಾನೆ.
The way to dispel all disease, sorrow is by chanting the Holy names of Achytha, Anantha and Govinda.

युधिष्ठिर उवाच
किमेकं दैवतं लोके किं वाप्येकं परायणम् ।
स्तुवन्तः कं कमर्चन्तः प्राप्नुयुर्मानवाः शुभम् ॥ २ ॥
को धर्मः सर्वधर्माणां भवतः परमो मतः ।
किं जपन्मुच्यते जन्तुर्जन्मसंसारबन्धनात् ॥ ३ ॥
ಯುಧಿಷ್ಠಿರನ ಪ್ರಶ್ನೆ - ನಾವು ನಡೆಸುವ ಧರ್ಮಾನುಷ್ಠಾನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾವುದು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ?
Yudhishtira questions Bhishma as to which is the foremost among all the ‘Dharmanushtanas’ that humans perform.
भीष्म उवाच
जगत्प्रभुं देवदेवमनन्तं पुरुषोत्तमम् ।
स्तुवन् नामसहस्रेण पुरुषः सततोत्थितः ॥ ४ ॥
तमेव चार्चयन्नित्यं भक्त्या पुरुषमव्ययम् ।
ध्यायन् स्तुवन् नमस्यंश्च यजमानस्तमेव च ॥ ५ ॥
अनादिनिधनं विष्णुं सर्वलोकमहेश्वरम् ।
लोकाध्यक्षं स्तुवन् नित्यं सर्वदुःखातिगो भवेत् ॥ ६ ॥
ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಭೀಷ್ಮರ ಉತ್ತರ - ಜಗತ್ತಿಗೆ ಒಡೆಯನಾದ ಪುರುಷೋತ್ತಮನನ್ನು ವಿಷ್ಣುಸಹಸ್ರನಾಮದಿಂದ ಸ್ತುತಿಸುವುದು ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಧರ್ಮ. ಇದರ ಪಾರಾಯಣದಿಂದ ಎಲ್ಲ ದುಃಖಗಳನ್ನು ದಾಟಲು ಸಾಧ್ಯ.
To which Bhishma replies: The way in which we can have the Lord, the Purushottama to dispel all our sorrows is by chanting Vishnusahasranama with utmost devotion. And this would be the foremost of all dharmas.
