Fun fact : each map of the game has one goal, get to the evac. But why the characters need to start over you may ask ? The comicbooks reveal that the characters are not immune, they are carriers. They infect their rescuers against their will.
But in the swamo fever he dont infect the virgi (the guy with the boat) Because in hard Rain you need find gas from the virgi and in the Parish he apper leaving (Sorry if a say some thing you explain in this comentary)
Left 4 dead, one of the most ridiculous fun horde-shooters out there. Fun Fact: Left 4 dead is created by Valve, the same guys who created Team fortress 2. Another Fun Fact: If its a game series made by Valve, they always stop at the second game, and so a meme was born " Valve can't count to 3".
I actually like that you pause the videos to explain your thoughts. That way you don't miss any context that may be explained to you while discussing what you saw.
Interesting fact about the infection in Left 4 Dead 1&2: Named the "Green Flu" it technically doesn't make regular people into zombies. According to the comics the regular infected essentially hallucinate the non-infected as monsters and become driven by the singular desire to rip them apart with their bare hands. As such the Infected problem is said to be able to solve itself for the most part because the infected are still living and require food and water but because of the "Green Flu" never actually seek out either of these needs.
The goverment called it the green flu so the people dont panic, the zombies sees the inmune people as demonic beings, as far as known that only happens to inmune people like our 8 protagonists and yes, with time the zombis will die because of malnutrition and lack of water, even the special infected "decomposed" beetwen games.
Love L4D1 and L4D2 both are great games. They actually brought all the maps and characters from L4D1 and put them in the copy of L4d2 with all the upgrades L4D2 had from melee weapons to new weapons better graphics and the new amazing gore something the first game lacked now you can shot holes in zombies cut them in half the body damage is just amazing and it feels so good when you shot a zombie in the mouth and see there lower face just gone lol
The intro to the original L4D is an amazing feat in cinematography! Camera angles, tension building, surprises... all there! More importantly it give you hints at thing in the game, like startling the witch (the girl with the fingernails of death) - bad thing. Things can grab you. Things can incapacitate you where you have to have someone lift you up off the ground to get you back on your feet. You can still shoot things while incapacitated. Lots of other hints as well. I think the thing that got a lot of people upset (and I'm very sure this was pure coincidence) is that the black character, Louis, caused every issue they had to sort out, like startling the witch, wandering off by himself to get jumped, shooting the zombie so it fell onto the car (setting off the alarm, and in the process, calling the horde)...
I'm not sure it was a coincidence as much as it was totally in character for Louis to be the hopeful optimist, sometimes cluelessly gullible, to go chase the helicopter on foot and separate himself from the group. It wouldn't make sense for Bill or even Francis to do the same; they know better than that.
I agree with dappr here, Louis's character is generally a nice and caring guy with a lot of hope and optimism. Meanwhile Zoey is sarcastic and angsty, Francis is edgy and hates everything and most likely wouldn't just run off on his own, and Bill most definitely knows better than to do any of that, being a veteran. If Louis's traits were given to any of the other characters I'm sure they would've done the same thing (I would say both Zoey and Louis were both responsible for the car alarm though, they were both shooting the hell outta the Hunter and I guess it makes sense because they are the least experienced in the group while a biker and a veteran would be more experienced than a teen and an office worker. I mean yea Zoey loves horror movies but she still would be just as inexperienced as Louis before the infection broke out) 😂 I mean take a look at Ellis from L4D2, he'd definitely be in the same situation as Louis, mainly because of the personality and behaviours of his character and that they're similar to Louis's in a way lol
FYI, the format of L4D is a survival game. You have a random selection of maps and you are in the starting area, the aim is to get to the extraction area. When you get to the extraction area you have to call for them to pick you up, meanwhile whilst they are on the way you have to survive a last stand. The appeal of L4D at the time despite the first game only having 4 maps lasting about 30 minutes each, was the fact the game engine would completely randomise enemies every single game. So no two games were the same despite being on the same map.
@@uhckingking6968 It's viable to run away from the tank if it's L4D1 Expert difficulty, the tank will incap you in one hit, then finish you off in 1 hit
They're Zombies....but not Zombies. Basically a very virulent virus came about that they dubbed 'The Green Flu' and operates a bit like Rabies, and also over time potentially mutates you into one of the 'special' infected. The game is fun since each 'episode' you play through several maps with up to 3 other players trying to get to an evac site or shelter. And at the end you get a whole credits thing almost like a movie with "Player X as Bill" "Player Y As Frank", if someone is played by the computer then it just does "Zoey as Herself", then all your stats about how many zombies were killed in making this and such.
So happy you watched/reacted to these! I have so many fond memories of long days and late nights of playing Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 way back when with friends! So to answer your questions: most of what you said at 9:42 is mostly correct, updates including new areas to play in, new weapons to use and other improvements to the game, but all the same gameplay and story. Only difference is with Left 4 Dead 2 aside from updates to gameplay (new special infected and melee weapons among them) you are introduced and get to play as a new set of survivors (Bill the old veteran, Louis the office worker, Francis the biker, and Zoey the university student are the first group from L4D 1. Coach the high school coach, Nick the con artist, Rochelle the TV producer, and Ellis the mechanic are the new group in L4D 2) so in L4D 2 you (technically) have 4 survivors you can play as. This was the perfect react vid for the time of year!
So l4d one had one group of survivors and l4d 2 had a different group, both met up at the last stand where one of your teamates would sacrifice themselves at the end. The games played with zombie tropes a lot.
There was a line that Bill says in game when Zoe is under attack is “Save the hot one!!”🤪🤪😂😂 (though probably a deleted line.) In reality though, they have a dad/daughter relationship in game otherwise.
One thing I absolutely love about the first Left 4 Dead intro is that it provides you hints on how to properly survive in this game. Zombies are changing and mutating so things are gonna get worse Crying means a Witch is around Be careful around the Witch and keep lights off Zombie hordes can spawn at random moments Don't disturb the Witch Close doors to separate yourself from zombies Your teammates need to get saved when caught by a Smoker Help them back up when they are down Use pipe bombs to lure zombies away Zombies are attracted to noise Don't wander off as you are an easier target Help teammates pinned down by a Hunter Cars can set off alarms so be careful around them as they can summon hordes Tanks are extremely dangerous and your team needs to focus on them Run or Shoot? Both! Don't celebrate too early as you just barely survived for now. Things aren't done yet.
Hordes are not completely random. In the intro it was because after they killed the Hunter that attacked Louis, the Hunter fell on top of a parked car causing its alarm to go off. In the game, they warn you not to shoot certain cars because their alarms attract the Horde. Also, Boomer Bile, waiting for rescue, standing still for too long will spawn a Horde. There are also “crescendo events” which are scenarios where you forced to trigger a Horde just to make the game more challenging.
Left 4 Dead 2 does mostly focus on a new group, though there is one mission where the first group of survivors guest stars. As you noted, there’s also a shift in tone. New guns, melee weapons, unique Infected in each chapter, and some crazier scenarios. For example, in Chapter 3, you signal the rescue helicopter by setting off a rock concert.
Not seeing a mention as to the survivors fates after hearing "I hope they got out" so I'll summarise since you seem to greatly enjoy hearing story elements, even from games that mostly lack it. There's an online comic worth looking up is you feel inclined that explains the fate of the original survivor group and what happened to them between and after the campaigns "Blood Harvest" and "The Sacrifice" Originally the campaigns were designed in a "one after the other" continuity sence, though on game release, they were considered separate stories presented in an action horror movie fashion (The loading screens have movie trailer posters for each and there's even a "film grain" option in the video settings) though over time, they were considered continuous events again thanks to the extra mini campaign "Crash Course" where after "No Mercy" they are picked up by a helicopter, the pilot turns mid flight and they return to fleeing on foot. The main takaway is by the end of "Blood Harvest" the group are evacuated by a military evac in, though rather than be taken to a safe zone, are held esentially as prisoners of war, and learn the only reason they haven't become infected despite direct contact with them, is because they are carriers, and still transmit the disease to anyone who is not also a carrier. During the events we get a little insight into each survivors history right before the infection started. Louis trying to climb the corporate ladder in his IT job, Francis with his Biker Gang who is out on bail and about to go back into prison, Zoey being a near college dropout and avid horror movie fan, and Bill a Vietnam veteran who can't fit back into society craving something to fight. This group banded together somewhere within Fairfield which is effectively considered to be ground zero (You can even find Patient Zero's supposed treatment room in the hospital during the No Mercy campaign) We also learn a little about the virus itself, "Green Flu". A conflict of interests takes place resulting in the military outpost being overrun and the group escape on a train to a coastal port town in Georgia. Bill has a plan for the group to escape and live the rest of their days isolated on an island, while Zoey is outraged with Bill after he left other potential carriers behind in the base as Bill now only sees their group as what's left after the treatment by the military, citing "We look out for our own" but Zoey still has hope to fight back. Francis and Louis meanwhile feel mostly exhausted by this point and see little else they can do besides work with Bills plan. After some traveling, they're attempting to get a good yatch ready to go, but something goes wrong and a huge horde is coming their way. Effectively cornered, Bill does what is needed to get the others safe but it results in him being being caught out and ultimately perishes at the hands of the infected. In the last shot we see the others arriving at a tropical island on the Yatch. The second group start out in Savannah and end up in New Orleans by the end, the group consisting of Coach the little league coach, Ellis a zombie enthusiastic daredevil and mechanic, Rochelle a struggling news reporter and Nick a con-artist who escaped a prison transport bus. This game is presented in a much more action sense as you exactly assumed, and this group mostly just met eachother at the start of the games campaigns, which again are treated continuously. It takes place mostly on the opposite end of the states where the infection has only just caught up where go seeking out a Military evacuation to a safe zone until finally they get into contact with one last transport helicopter about to leave a city before it is bombed as a counter measure. We hear over the radio as they are in contact, confirming the survivors are immune, and the phrase "Are you equipped for carriers?" which leaves the ultimate fate of the group undetermined as the final shot sees them taken away on the helicopter while the city is destroyed. Are they subjected to the same measures the previous group were? Or is there now a real safezone specifically made for carriers to safely stay? ... I always say I'll do a "Quick" summary and end up writing a novel... oh well, it's fun sharing enthusiasm!
Must say i was very enjoy watching your video of that 12 years old game, and in some parts thanks to you, i was feeling like i 1st time watch that trailers. Feeling of that was incredible, since i have 7000 hours in that game. Great video and thank you!
I love both intros because in addition to them just being cool cinematics, they also introduce key gameplay mechanics, the playable characters and the enemies in a really efficient way. It's one of the reasons I disagree people hating on all cinematic trailers: yes, they are not representative of what the game is actually like, but good ones like these can really be great for setting the mood and showing you stuff you can expect to see or encounter in the game. Sadly most cinematic trailers are more just pretty visuals.
I do like your reaction as you showed genuine interest into the story of what is going and happening rather versus looking at it as a game that you just shoot things to kill, when it's not like that! I'm glad there are people like you that can still appreciate games and not play them. Give's me inspiration.
It's probably been said at this point but, canonically, the only survivor from the first game that dies is Bill. The old war veteran that's always wearing his greens. There's an entire campaign dedicated to that plot point called "The Sacrifice". The two groups meet and he stays behind to hold off a bunch of giant zombies so everyone else can escape.
I'm jealous that you have the original Star Wars VHS tapes on your shelf. My family trashed ours around 2003 when we moved across country, we didn't understand their value back then. Also, cool reaction.
I don't see any comments (in my cursory scroll) answering the question about what the short teaser with the lighthouse did for fans. You basically nailed it after the second Last Stand teaser with Bill talking about how there should've been more tanks. The second game had lasted a glorious ten years, and then last year we got a really exciting update featuring a new campaign (the one with the lighthouse). So that's why even that simple a promotion was still super exciting for us at the time when it was announced that new updates were coming for the old game :) Edit to clarify: Yeah the update's new campaign was released as part of the second game, because the second game is more versatile and popular and also already included the ability to play the original game's campaigns with the original characters. But in terms of the in-game-universe _story_ progression, the new campaign "The Last Stand" did indeed take place with the first game's survivors near to the end of their story arc together. I never thought before about how confusing that would be to explain to someone who wasn't into the games lol, great question!
What makes l4d 1 and 2 so memorable is that each campaign is structured and presented like an actual horror movie. You even get stats for every player as your end credits when you finish a campaign. The whole feel of the game is just so immersive. The music, level design, clever use of lighting and props and the best part is that no playthrough is exactly the same. L4d 1 and 2 use an AI scenario director which controls the spawn rate and location of special infected, location of items like med kits and molotov cocktails, frequency of horde encounters and even some map alterations where some paths would be closed off while others are opened up. The AI responds to the players' progress through the current campaign chapter based on how far they are through the map, player health, supply (meds, ammo, throwables, etc). If the players try to progress slowly, the AI often throws hordes and special infected at them more often. On the other hand, if players clear through the map too quickly, they might end up getting a tank(big hulky infected) thrown at them or a witch(crying female infected) gets spawned in their way. L4d2 came out as an enhancement of l4d1. They are essentially 2 different games but l4d2 includes maps from the first game. For all intents and purposes, one can say that l4d2 would have been the final product l4d1 was supposed to become. There have been many other zombie games that tried to emulate the same 4-person co-op experience but l4d2 still stays on top.
I can't begin to formulate how much I enjoyed your reactions to the intro trailers man, your reactions and responses to the negativity of some ppl are too funny 😂
Great video! It was really interesting to see someone’s reaction to these who isn’t a gamer. Left 4 Dead was got me into gaming personally. It’s not the type of game to have cutscenes, only those intros which teach you about the mechanics of the game (don’t go alone, “run or shoot”, don’t disturb the crying girl). But the storytelling in the game, while subtle, is really interesting. It’s told via the environments and voice lines. The first game features Bill (an Army Vet), Francis (Biker Gang Member), Louis (A Junior Systems Analyst) and Zoey (Film Student and Horror Film Fanatic) trying to help/a way out of the apocalypse. There is a comic series that explains what happened before the green flu (what made the zombies), how it’s constantly mutating and they’re researching why some people become special infected. It bridges two of the campaigns (levels) together. The first games campaigns were brought into the second game with the ability to use the second games mechanics (new infected types and melee weapons). The second game features Rochelle (A News Reporter), Coach (a high school Coach), Nick (A Gambler and Con Man) and Ellis (A Mechanic). Similar to the first survivors, they’re looking for help. There are twists and turns which happen between campaigns which mean they’re still looking for help or a way out. The two groups of survivors do end up meeting in The Passing campaign with the exception of Bill (spoilers as to why he’s not there). That is the last time in canon we see the left 4 dead one survivors. The last stand was a community project made by fans so to see it endorsed by Valve 12 years after the first game and 11 years after the second was rare to see and just a love letter for the community who care about the story and it’s characters. Fans want a Left 4 Dead 3 but it’s not happened yet. I still have hope.
I love watching reactions to my favorite games and you would have to be the best one ever for the l4d franchise! Absolutely loved your energy throughout the video ❤
Watching your reaction to these trailers and the shock and awe you had brought me back to when i was 16 when the 1st game released. These two titles are probably some of my fav. games of all time and you had me smiling ear to ear seeing you react. Thank you for the wonderful video!
L4D 1 and 2 are classics that still hold up today (especially when played with friends). If you plan on doing more spooky reactions, i could recommend reacting to the Dead Space 1-3 trailers, if you haven't seen them already.
My wife and I play this game in co-OP all the time. We showed it to our son (who's 7 a d a video game genius) literally 2 days ago. He has memorized every level to the point that he knows exactly where every horde will show up and also how to set up a defensive position in order to survive. I've been playing the game since it came out and he plays it better than I do. Great game and this video pop up into my suggested feed today while I was playing the first game. Great video btw.
The best thing is that the intro to L4D doesn't bullshit you in any way, the intro is exactly the way the game plays. L4D is one of the best games of all time, its the best zombie shooter there is.
L4d2 has l4d characters in it with the maps brought back but with melee weapons and new guns. New infected that 1 didn't have and the last stand was a fan made update that they put in the game to say thanks for all those still playing this game. I've been a die hard fan since launch
Context for the infected, the 'special infected' are obviously the one that are completely different from your average zombie. --------------- Special Infected ----------------------- 2:20 Witch: She won't attack you, unless you bother her with gunfire or even flashlights. She'll be crying an random isolated areas, or occasionally walking around...crying. If you startle her she'll instantly one-shot down you, so make no noise and keep your flashlight off. 2:54 Smoker: A tall zombie capable of using it's tongue like a lasso and grabbing survivors from far away. It gets the name Smoker, because has soon has it get's killed, it explodes into smoke. 3:34 Hunter: It's capable of leaping off of buildings and pouncing his prey, then proceeds to claw them to death. It's noticeable by its chaotic screaming. 4:14 Tank: Hence it's name, it's pretty much a boss zombie, capable of soaking in bullets and throwing concrete at survivors. 11:00 Jockey: It jumps around laughing manically and rides on the back of survivors. When doing this it'll drive the survivor into more zombies or off a ledge. 11:09 Spitter: A zombie capable shooting acid globs and even after it dies, acid is bound to spread. 12:18 Charger: A hillbilly zombie and a large arm, the names says it all. It'll charge into a survivor and will proceed to pummel them to death. 12:54 Boomer (bottom left): A standard fat zombie, that explodes upon death and will vomit all over the survivors (thus attracting more zombies). ----------------------------------
Even by your standards, you were extremely Over-Invested in the first video! I gotta say though: same, girl. I've never seen it before and I was on the edge of my seat!
there's left 4 dead 1 and 2, but when left 4 dead 2 launched sometime later they added left 4 dead 1 story to left 4 dead 2, so you can have both stories on 1 game and in a special chapter they find eachother, it's the passing chapter, theres some trailers of it
Ok so left 4 dead 2 has the left 4 dead 1 levels in it as well, and has new levels for the left 4 dead 1 crew, but also has levels exclusive to the left 4 dead 2 crew
Girl, you watched these way out of order, lol, not that it matters much. Bottom line is each game is a different set of four survivors, each who has awesome personalities, that you could play with your friends to survive the zombie apocalypse. I have so many good memories of epic moments of saving my friends lives and surviving to the end, it’s one of my favorite games ever.
If you like JK Simmons and Valve games (which you seem to), you would absolutely love the Portal 2 Aperture Investment shorts. There's 4 of them, but they're only like 30-60 seconds and they're so damn funny
I grew up with Left 4 Dead so seeing you react to this was making geek out big time (and when you mentioned if you understood the game getting the update and all of that well yes you did get it)
I love left dead 1 and 2. A fun thing is that they treat each map like a movie with own cheese headline like and that not every playthrough is the same because of an ai director that changes up what attacks when and where and what spawns on you.
When she said they did Cross Fit in the Left 4 Dead 1 intro. The thing is Francis was a bar owner, Louis was a Business man, Zoey was a College shut in and Bill was in the middle of surgery when the Zombie Apocalypse started.
Those Last Stand videos were trailers for an update that the L4D community made and not really trailers for the games. I recommend watching 'The Sacrifice' and 'The Passing' trailers as they were official promos for the game and includes the 4 og characters. It was really fun watching you watch these Left 4 Dead trailers :D
L4D2 is a whole new campaign with new characters, but it also came with L4D1's whole game + bonus content. So effectively when you buy L4D2 you are also buying the previous game on top of the new one.
Man, I loved Left 4 Dead (and am really enjoying it's spiritual sequel, Back 4 Blood). They did a really good job conveying the frantic nature of the gameplay in the intro.
the last stand was a community lead update made 10 years after the game came out to make some wanted improvements but also to stitch together "Death toll" and "Dead air" together more neatly with "the last stand" map, but in general, its just a quality of life update since Valve has moved on to bigger projects.
Left 4 Dead 1 trailer is also the intro, it showed how the survivors got into the 1st campaign of the game called "No Mercy" where they hear the evac helicopter flying around that they need to get into the top of Mercy Hospital. The Left 4 Dead 2 trailer that you watched isn't the 1st trailer, its actually the very recent trailers for a major update of Left 4 dead 2 where they release cutted content and a new map where they alter the ending of L4D1. The Left 4 Dead 2 intro showed the new locations of the game where they need to head New Orleans because it was the last remaining location that isn't overrun yet, it also showed the new special infected which is the Charger, Jockey, and Spitter which demonstrates that the virus is mutating and getting much stronger.
I didn't even know there was an update to L4D2, so that's something to look into. But there was a rumor based on a DLC, if I'm remembering correctly, that the team from 1 meets up with the team from 2, so they were supposed to have 8 selectable characters from there on in either a new DLC for 2 or in L4D3. The game was a lot of fun and I think, even as a non gamer, you'd possibly enjoy it. Not a bad one to try out. You can go in with 3 other players for help, or solo with AI for team mates, which I would recommend doing so with people since I remember the AI not being super great when the horde started to get real aggressive. Maybe have it as a community thing. But in general, video was pretty interesting.
The update was a huge surprise, very few games get big updates years later, especially 10 years. Left 4 Dead just has a special place in the hearts of many
The Last Stand trailers made it kind of confusing so here's how it worked out Left 4 Dead 1 came out first with a whole bunch of campaigns and different modes to play through, all themed around the 4 survivors fighting against a massive zombie horde Not too long later Left 4 Dead 2 came out, L4D2 included all of the original campaigns from L4D1 as well as their own set of campaigns, and also added in a new campaign for the L4D1 characters called The Sacrifice that showed what happened to the L4D1 characters after the events of the first game Fast forward 10 years, Valve hasn't published any new Left 4 Dead games so somehow the community members were able to make their own community update for L4D2, this ended up becoming the Last Stand update, included a new campaign for the L4D1 characters, a whole bunch of new survival maps, a couple new melee weapons and a bunch of other details I'm forgetting but generally speaking content-wise the game got a pretty significant upgrade
There's a web comic for what happens to the first main 4 survivors after the game. It's pretty cool and kinda sad. It's worth looking into. I'm sure you can find a video version.
There's a lot of theories revolving around how the zombies look and look like that it's because the Sickness "The Green Flu Epidemic" is a mutative virus that affects each person differently based on its past life (while alive). Like the Tank (The hulk-like one in the L4D1) is like that because the high testosterone levels can mutate in gigantism so bodybuilders or steroids addicts can mutate to the Tank if affected by the virus (this is just a theory btw, but it's cool). Also, some theories say that the Smoker (the one with the tongue thing) isn't actually a tougne but an intestine, since tongues are only about 3 inches and intestines based on research suggests that the combined length of the small and large intestines is at least 15 ft in length. yeah pretty disgusting. Loved the Reaction btw bye :)
L4D1 and 2 are great. Both games are just about 4 normal people who get caught up in the zombie apocalypse and have to depend on each other to survive. In 1 Louis is an IT guy. Zoey is a college student who wanted to become a horror film maker. Francis is a biker and general troublemaker/petty criminal (also he hates everything. "Francis Hates Left 4 Dead" is a popular youtube video. It's a music video with the lyrics being all the voice lines of Francis saying "I hate x"). And Bill is a Vietnam vet. 2 has Coach (exactly what it says on the tin), Ellis (simple country boy mechanic), Nick (gambler/con-artist) and Rochelle (an associate producer at a tv station). Coach is the best. I hope people start recommending more Japanese games. Metroid Dread is GREAT.
This game has had updates over 5 years after it's release: We had the passing The Sacrifice Mod Support (Steam Workshop so it's REALLY easy) Left 4 Dead 1 campaigns in Left 4 dead 2 And finally cold stream in 2012. After several years... The last stand update includes 1 new campaign (The last stand: NON CANON, but loads of fun), 20 new survival maps, several bugfixes, animation fixes, new weapon variants for the SMG, PVP improvements and 2 new melee weapons.
all the playable campaigns from Left 4 Dead 1 were added to Left 4 Dead 2 some time after launch, with the set of characters changing depending on which game's content you are playing on, which is why the update announcements had the original survivors from L4D1 but carried the L4D2 label there was also a campaign where the survivors from both games briefly meet each other before the new survivors continue their adventures while the old survivors stay behind and carry on with the "find a boat, move to an isolated island" plan they had in the official comics
I know this is an old video but- Left 4 Dead doesn't HAVE cutscenes. The story after the intro scenes is all told via gameplay, environmental storytelling, and dialogue between the survivors. There's a channel I discovered recently called Conz that has a very fun (Albeit, as of writing this, it's just barely unfinished) series going over the story of each campaign map, discussing what's going on in the area you're playing in. Just single campaigns can create surprisingly compelling stories for characters you don't even meet
If yoi're curious about the first game's team: They fought their way to Mercy Hospital when the chopper in the intro (a news chopper that, unlike the military, was bravely making trips into the city to rescue any remaining Survivors despite potential risks to himself) directed any living people to reach the roof of said hospital to be picked up. The group got picked up, but the pilot was bit in a previous street pick-up and turned, forcing Zoey to shoot him mid-flight and crash land the chopper. They survived, found an armored truck and drove it to the outskirts of Riverside as there was a military outpost there. They found the town overrun and, with no choice, called a fishing boat owned by a couple to save them... only for said couple to kick them out in the burning city of Newburgh, which was also overrun. Luckily, they saw a C-130 Plane land in the nearby airport, fought tooth and nail to it, helped refuel the thing and flew off. Except that the pilot turned too, and crashed the plane somewhere in the Allegheny National Dam, forcing the group to hide there for now, until they learned of another military outpost stationed in a farmhouse. They get there, call the military and are picked up in an armored car. And things get worse from here. The group arrived at a military base, get detained and learn they are Carriers (people who are infected with the virus, but are immune yet can infect others), the base gets under attack by the horde from the farm house, and the group escape via a train (forcing then to leave behind two soldiers and a doctor they befriended). After so many failed attempts for rescue and learning they are Carriers, meaning they are likely to be killed by the Military anyway, they settle on finding a boat and reach the Florida Keys to live out the apocalypse. And this is where things reach its worst for them. The group find themselves up against an overwhelming horde, but are able to find a boat that is in the other side of a bridge they must raise to avoid the horde's clutches... only for the bridge to stop halfway, leaving them open for the whole horde and three Tanks (that Hulk-like Zombie you saw) to come after them. Out of ammo and with no way out, the group was aiming to make a last stand, only for Bill (the old guy) to jump down, restart the generator and sacrifice himself to give Zoey, Francis and Louis a chance at surviving and escaping. The old guy dies, but he went down swinging. The remaining three did get to meet and assist the group from the second game when they had to work together to bring the bridge back down to let the second group cross it with their car and for the remaining trio to get to the boat and escape. That's about it for the first group. Also, "The Last Stand" chapter is non-canon. It was originally like this "what if...?" scenario where the first group took a wrong turn in search of salvation, only to meet a horrible demise at the Lighthouse -- no rescue came, only a never-ending onslaught of the undead. They updated that chapter to include an actual means of escaping the Lighthouse (about over a decade since it was originally released), so now either the first group escapes via boat, or perish together.
Since you mentioned J.K. Simmons, you gotta check out another Value game called Portal as he's a voice actor in Portal 2. He goes on quite a few hilarious rants as well as some funny warnings and instructions. "I don't want your damn lemons!"
@HannaH's Over Infested The short version is, they're not actually zombies. Some commenters have probably already mentioned this, but the "green flu" is essentially super-rabies. The "zombies" aren't undead, they're still living, which is why they're so fast... they don't shuffle like zombies in most media. As other commenters have pointed out, the _regular_ "zombies" will eventually die of starvation or dehydration, probably within a month. (I don't know how long the mutants, like the Tank, Witch, Smoker, etc., will live.) Since it's a mutant strain of rabies, they can't swallow, even if they _were_ interested in food or water. Interesting fact, if you use a console command so that the 'zombies' don't react to you, some of them will actually lie down and die, usually right after vomiting. This proves that they're not actually undead zombies. Also, because it's rabies, that's why they react to the pipe bombs the way they do. Bright lights and loud noises, especially high pitched ones like the beeping of the pipe bomb, are extremely painful to them. Essentially, they're running towards the source of the noise trying to find the snooze button to stop the pain. The survivors are asymptomatic carriers. The helicopter pilot at the end of the first campaign was bitten before he rescues you, but the other rescuers all 'turn' because even though the survivors don't have any of the symptoms of the green flu, they can still spread it. This is also why the military was shooting or experimenting on the immune carriers, and why at the end of Left 4 Dead 2 the military commander specifically asks the helicopter pilot if he's equipped to transport carriers.
In order to give you context, 9:28 is an iconic moment. Because in Left 4 Dead the old man (Bill) who said, " They should have brought more tanks", sacrificed himself to save his friends. (I don't know for other players but I find it iconic, it's just good to see Bill alive again.)
You forgot the The Sacrifice teaser/trailer. Oh well, good video regardless. I've been playing this game since I was around highschool and up until now. Left 4 Dead Characters
Bill - The Old Man and a Vietnam War Veteran.
Francis - The badass tattooed guy who hates everything and also known as the Biker dude.
Zoey - The teenage girl that loves horror movies and the sarcastic one.
Louis - The techy office working guy and also the nicest.
Left 4 Dead 2 Characters
Coach - The middle aged black guy, positive leader that loves eating and laughing.
Nick - The rude con artist wearing the $3000 Suit.
Rochelle - The sweet lady and a news producer.
Ellis - The young kid also known as the little Mechanic that loves to tell stories and has a deep crush on Zoey. (Both teams met each other on The Passing Campaign)
The special infected zombies:
Tank - The huge Hulk like monster mutated from the flu. Gigantic but sneeky.
Witch - The crying girl that loves sugar. Don't come near her for your safety.(1 blow can knock you down)
Charger - The one arm monster that charges at players or teams.
Smoker - The long tongue monster. Noisy but deadly. (releases smoke on death)
Hunter - The hooded high jumper that rips human bodies and organs.
Jockey - The noisiest and most irritating zombie ever that leaps on players to drag them away.
Spitter - The female zombie that spits burning acid. (releases burning acid on death)
Boomer - the fattest zombie that pukes disgusting and zombie attracting vomit. (explodes on death. If you're near the explosion you'll get the vomit and blinds you for 6 seconds and attracts zombies).

As such the Infected problem is said to be able to solve itself for the most part because the infected are still living and require food and water but because of the "Green Flu" never actually seek out either of these needs.
well that explains why the games only take place in the first 3 weeks of the infection.
so in theory, if nobody ever gets infected again, the virus could died off on it's own?

@@daappr Interesting. Yeah, I'll buy that. seems to be totally in character now that you mention it.
I mean yea Zoey loves horror movies but she still would be just as inexperienced as Louis before the infection broke out) 😂
I mean take a look at Ellis from L4D2, he'd definitely be in the same situation as Louis, mainly because of the personality and behaviours of his character and that they're similar to Louis's in a way lol
@@Glitchyybean Yes, after thinking about, it, I have to agree.
It's just Louis's personality. He's optimistic and doesn't take things seriously most of the time.
The A.I. Director for both Left 4 Dead games is beyond exceptional. WAYYYY ahead of its time and super under appreciated.
BRUH this is uselees the other way to explain L4D2 is
Shoot anything that moves especially your teammates and run like hell from the tank

Haha thanks.

One thing I absolutely love about the first Left 4 Dead intro is that it provides you hints on how to properly survive in this game.
Zombies are changing and mutating so things are gonna get worse
Crying means a Witch is around
Be careful around the Witch and keep lights off
Zombie hordes can spawn at random moments
Don't disturb the Witch
Close doors to separate yourself from zombies
Your teammates need to get saved when caught by a Smoker
Help them back up when they are down
Use pipe bombs to lure zombies away
Zombies are attracted to noise
Don't wander off as you are an easier target
Help teammates pinned down by a Hunter
Cars can set off alarms so be careful around them as they can summon hordes
Tanks are extremely dangerous and your team needs to focus on them
Run or Shoot? Both!
Don't celebrate too early as you just barely survived for now. Things aren't done yet.
I feel like the zombie horde did not come at a random moment though, Bill rubbed boomer bile on himself and Francis.
There's an online comic worth looking up is you feel inclined that explains the fate of the original survivor group and what happened to them between and after the campaigns "Blood Harvest" and "The Sacrifice"
Originally the campaigns were designed in a "one after the other" continuity sence, though on game release, they were considered separate stories presented in an action horror movie fashion (The loading screens have movie trailer posters for each and there's even a "film grain" option in the video settings) though over time, they were considered continuous events again thanks to the extra mini campaign "Crash Course" where after "No Mercy" they are picked up by a helicopter, the pilot turns mid flight and they return to fleeing on foot.

"Son, we just crossed the street. Let's not throw a party til we're out of the city." Easily one of my favourite lines ever.
So that's why even that simple a promotion was still super exciting for us at the time when it was announced that new updates were coming for the old game :)
Edit to clarify: Yeah the update's new campaign was released as part of the second game, because the second game is more versatile and popular and also already included the ability to play the original game's campaigns with the original characters. But in terms of the in-game-universe _story_ progression, the new campaign "The Last Stand" did indeed take place with the first game's survivors near to the end of their story arc together. I never thought before about how confusing that would be to explain to someone who wasn't into the games lol, great question!
"IF we gunna run outta bullets, then they gonna WISH *WE HADN'T* !!
man why does no one ever like my comments. or they do and unlike..

Ok so left 4 dead 2 has the left 4 dead 1 levels in it as well, and has new levels for the left 4 dead 1 crew, but also has levels exclusive to the left 4 dead 2 crew
Your reaction to the special infected was hilarious
Great reactions just subbed
🙏🏼🙏🏼 thank you!
No problem
Just saw this in my recommendation and watching this video made me miss the leaf 4 dead. The nostalgia! so hype! loved the video!
Just watching you react to my childhood game makes me so happy, love your energy
More than 10 years and this 2 games put a big smile on my face :)
I grew up with Left 4 Dead so seeing you react to this was making geek out big time (and when you mentioned if you understood the game getting the update and all of that well yes you did get it)
the crying zombie woman in the first part is an actual enemy type, The Witch
I love left dead 1 and 2.
A fun thing is that they treat each map like a movie with own cheese headline like and that not every playthrough is the same because of an ai director that changes up what attacks when and where and what spawns on you.
These games definitely lead to some really anxious game nights with my friends over the years lol
11:46 ironically the first time I played both games I saw more terrorific l4d2 than l4d lmao
When she said they did Cross Fit in the Left 4 Dead 1 intro. The thing is Francis was a bar owner, Louis was a Business man, Zoey was a College shut in and Bill was in the middle of surgery when the Zombie Apocalypse started.
Homie, you look like the PERFECT live action cast for Rochelle if L4D became an official live action
From your lips to God's ears
My only issue with Back 4 Blood is the difficulty tuning seems a bit over board. Where Left 4 Dead had the tuning perfect.
Your reactions are on point...... some reason watching your videos make me want to see what other videos you have golden reactions too
Thank you!
the last stand was a community lead update made 10 years after the game came out to make some wanted improvements but also to stitch together "Death toll" and "Dead air" together more neatly with "the last stand" map, but in general, its just a quality of life update since Valve has moved on to bigger projects.
I'm glad you react it tyy♥️♥️
But in general, video was pretty interesting.
it's so cute, like my mom and one of my aunts trying to understand the video games I play.
Dang, I'm kinda sad you didn't see the l4d sacrifice trailer. That one is so cool, never fails to get me hype
The update was a huge surprise, very few games get big updates years later, especially 10 years. Left 4 Dead just has a special place in the hearts of many
God, I actually missed your channel. You haven't appeared on my front page for so long, I actually missed a cheerful person reacting to stuff
The Last Stand trailers made it kind of confusing so here's how it worked out
Left 4 Dead 1 came out first with a whole bunch of campaigns and different modes to play through, all themed around the 4 survivors fighting against a massive zombie horde
Not too long later Left 4 Dead 2 came out, L4D2 included all of the original campaigns from L4D1 as well as their own set of campaigns, and also added in a new campaign for the L4D1 characters called The Sacrifice that showed what happened to the L4D1 characters after the events of the first game
Fast forward 10 years, Valve hasn't published any new Left 4 Dead games so somehow the community members were able to make their own community update for L4D2, this ended up becoming the Last Stand update, included a new campaign for the L4D1 characters, a whole bunch of new survival maps, a couple new melee weapons and a bunch of other details I'm forgetting but generally speaking content-wise the game got a pretty significant upgrade
Loved the Reaction btw
bye :)
That's so cool, Rochelle is reacting to L4D trailers. Wow!
🤣🤣🤣
@@HannaHsOverInvested do a cosplay, the resemblance will be uncanny!
Fun fact: Left 4 Dead originally was a test gamemode for Counter-Strike: Source
Your reactions are always amazing
🙏🏼🙏🏼
This game has had updates over 5 years after it's release:
We had the passing
The Sacrifice
Mod Support (Steam Workshop so it's REALLY easy)
Left 4 Dead 1 campaigns in Left 4 dead 2
And finally cold stream in 2012.
After several years...
The last stand update includes 1 new campaign (The last stand: NON CANON, but loads of fun), 20 new survival maps, several bugfixes, animation fixes, new weapon variants for the SMG, PVP improvements and 2 new melee weapons.
Hannah: *Hears a Witch crying*
Hannah:…It’s a trap 😟
Me:…Get this woman a controller
🤣🤣
The original Left 4 Dead survivors didn't all get out, Bill sacrificed himself
all the playable campaigns from Left 4 Dead 1 were added to Left 4 Dead 2 some time after launch, with the set of characters changing depending on which game's content you are playing on, which is why the update announcements had the original survivors from L4D1 but carried the L4D2 label
there was also a campaign where the survivors from both games briefly meet each other before the new survivors continue their adventures while the old survivors stay behind and carry on with the "find a boat, move to an isolated island" plan they had in the official comics
This was a fun video to watch
the left 4 dead lore is really amazing and the comics detail them very good.
LEFT 4 DEAD is an OG game! Loved playing that game. Wished it came back
"Comment your negativity down below, it helps the algorithm" LOL girl, never change
These reactions videos are fun, YOU are so much fun! Have a great day!
In order to give you context, 9:28 is an iconic moment. Because in Left 4 Dead the old man (Bill) who said,
" They should have brought more tanks", sacrificed himself to save his friends.
(I don't know for other players but I find it iconic, it's just good to see Bill alive again.)
You forgot the The Sacrifice teaser/trailer. Oh well, good video regardless. I've been playing this game since I was around highschool and up until now. This is my favorite game of all time, the game ages like a fine wine. Btw if you are interested on the story of the first survivors from Left 4 Dead 1, there's a comics called The Sacrifice.
10:05 that was actually pretty close, well done
12:44 "That's so disgusting"
So much so the camera itself got affected by staying zoomed in. :P
Also Ellis (Left 4 Dead 2 ) The Mechanic kid has really good stories that reminds me of something...DID I EVER TELL YOU ABOUT THE TIME MY BUDDY KEITH DROVE A CAR OFF A CLIFF,BROKE BOTH HIS LEGS
