    Hi, thanks for the video!
I want to ask how much Lucas should be added to the transmission with a mileage of 268,000 km when changing the oil ?
I fill the oil with Liqui moly ATF 1200.

I would put in about 3 quarters of the quart. Thanks for watching and commenting

This is some good advice and you’re very knowledgeable about these cars. I have a 2006 X5 3.0i and we’ve had it since 30k miles and about 13-14 years. The car runs and drives like the day we got it. Did some work on my own and the rest at a bmw shop. I wanted to change the transmission fluid in it being that it is original. The car now has 124k miles and shifts very nicely just like the day we got it. I wanted to use Redline D4 transmission fluid as I’ve read a lot of people used it with good results. I’m going to put a Genuine BMW filter in it but I wanted to hear your thoughts about it. Would you recommend that I still put the additives in it as well?
I’m also new to your channel and started watching some videos. Very nice content and good vids!

Thank you for your kind words about the channel, sorry it took me So long to get back to you, I hear really great things about redline fluid as well but unfortunately I have no personal experience with it in this type of use, With regard to the additives I would read on the red line fluid you want to use and see if it already has its own additive package built-in, I like the Lucas additive because it thickens up the cold viscosity of the fluid, this helps with the clutch draining issue that these transmissions develop with higher mileage and it also increases the amount of seal conditioners floating around in the fluid, keeping all the seals Supple yet strong

U explain everything from A 2 z 1 to 9 nice work I have a 5l40e transmission in my e46 318i won't move in drive when its cold I found out the the aftermarket filter an gasket no good the filter installation seals wasn't tight enough I was hearing a groaning sound new filter seals are tight on it an hard to install in the transmission so I know it's ok transmission starts to move in d when its cold now . I got the metal gasket change it but I notice the fluid was look weird shiny stuff in it the fluid i change before didn't look bad just dark An I change it just 2 months I didn't flush it it takes about 7 r 8 quarters to fill then. now it takes about 5 3/4 I also did tip the back up a little to c it I wasn't level enough I did also use a level to make sure the car is level left an right front an back and it's downshifting rough I use 100% synthetic amsoil something not right

Thanks Kev we appreciate you watching, and your kind words, we hope you liked and subscribed, the channel needs more good people like you!
Have you tried resetting the adaptive factors with a scan tool? Or the gas pedal key dance sequence? These transmissions learn and retain a memory to try and improve shifting
I use valvoline dex 6 in these, with one quart of the lucas transmission additive and one bottle of lube guard, that stuff helps out tremendously, be sure your level is set exactly right too, over filling causes aeration and shifting issues as well, keep us updated on your progress and good luck friend.

Can I use the same fluid for transmission and transfer? Great vide - thanks.

Yes, as long as it is a high quality Dex 6, in higher mileage units I add about 8 oz of lucas transmission fluid conditioner, never had an issue👍🏽 thanks for watching, consider liking and subscribing

🤑 no less than 2 hours, but I go 3
This way I can take my time, clear adaptations, set fluid level with live data fluid temp, road test, leak check, let it cool and re-check.
Transmission work isn’t something I take lightly.
