I can't play it the right way because it's too fast for me. Cant figure out how to alternate stokes on the right way and becomes all down strokes until the muscles in my hand just lock up
Hoppus is an incredibly underrated bassist. In fact his bass playing is an overlooked part of blink 182. Most people point out Travis’ drumming or toms over dramatic singing
@@justinTime077 I don't know if you are being ironic or not.. I also don't know if there is such a word in english (my main language is portuguese), but I use it to mean something chord-oriented (against single note playing)
@@justinTime077 no. Arpeggios are when the chord notes are played one by one (in a pattern)... a chordal playing for me is when all notes of the chord are played together (like a strummed guitar). Think Lemmy or sometimes Lou Barlow.
@@justinTime077 an arpeggio, as I understand, is a way of playing a chord. Usually, bass players are more scale oriented (there is a relationship between chords and scales but bass players usually wont play a chord note by note, but some importantant voicings for a given progression/ harmonic content) and will play single notes. Mark used to play much like a guitar player would, specially when you think his greatest influence is Robert Smith (and also I believe the aforementioned Lou Barlow with Dinosaur Jr)... Again, I don't know if you're being highly ironic, if you're trying to test me or else... I'm selftaught, and I speak mainly portuguese, if the word "chordal" is non existant from a college musician point of view, doesnt make difference (unless you are a snob), as long as you get the point
this channel is the best cover channel, especially when the songs are from Blink-182 Mark has always been a reference for bassist for me, great job you doing on this channel.💥🤘🤘🤘
Mark and Tom both have a knack for creating catchy riffs. I think it gets lost in all the slick production and potty humor that they’ve always been serious songwriters.
Hey man! Awesome video! I remember watching some of your covers when i first got into blink about 3 years ago. Glad to see you are still doing it! Keep up the good job man!
Dude your timing and technique is so good. I've been playing guitar for a few months and im kinda doing decent, but i think my brain is wired for bass, I think I'd do so much better as a bassist. My ears always pick up bass and rhythm first
Knowing carousel was number one and building up to it just to be met by silence because of copyright really pissed me off. RUclips being RUclips I guess
that fuckin here's your letter line... i mean, it's simple, but the way he wrote it by intentionally not playing some of the notes was absoiutely magnificient
He is a lot better bassplayer than what most people think, not the best in the business but clearly underrated. Barker is probably considered the best musician in Blink by most , and rightfully so. But just listen to Blink's songs with bass only and you realise how good he really is , and then add travis drums and you will realise how well connected these 2 musicians are
Great tone been trying to get it myself but my p bass has a maple fret board so harder to get right any tips on how to get like the toypaj/self titled tone ?

Bass strings I use (because everyone always asks me)
amzn.to/32kOw0n
Mark got me to pick up the bass and I have absolutely no shame in admitting it.
me too, and i got my first bass the same way mark did, by painting houses :)
Same here
Me too, I pretty much knew how to play most of these because of him
Same. Peggy Sue bass solo on tom mark and travis show was so cool at the time!
No shame man, no shame. Mark and Tom got me to pick up both bass and guitar. Travis made me never want to embarrass myself behind a kit though 🤣
Carousel is how I check to see if my bass is in tune, so that just tells you how much of a banger it is.
Literally just did this🤣
Finally someone who plays the right way man overboard
Why does it matter if it's the "right" way?
Thank you!
I can't play it the right way because it's too fast for me. Cant figure out how to alternate stokes on the right way and becomes all down strokes until the muscles in my hand just lock up
Ironic comment
The right way is in down picking
Knew Carousel was going to be #1. I don't really play bass but every time I pick one up it's the first thing I play.
Hoppus is an incredibly underrated bassist. In fact his bass playing is an overlooked part of blink 182. Most people point out Travis’ drumming or toms over dramatic singing
Story of a Lonely Guy is just on a whole other level. Easily their best song IMO.
true, extremely underrated song
seems like he used to play more chordal stuff back in the day... must be one of the reasons I like the early Blink more
Chordal? I just learned a new word. Hard to believe I took guitar lessons for 3 years

Littleredguitars2 is the best cover channel
Mutt has the best bass ever
This is a man of good taste
Simple but amazing bass
Totally agree!
I was waiting and waiting for mutt! I'm so glad it's in the top 3, it's so good!
that tone at 8:30 is delicious. What effect are you using ??
😂😂😂😂
it's the boss tu-3!! it is such a great pedal for that sound :Ddd
@@peik5569 LMFAO
😂😂🤣🤣
Mark honestly helped with my playing by a shit ton I probably never would've used power chords on bass if it wasn't for him
Mark is one of my favourite bassist
Turn the bass up dammit
Marlboro Man has to be one of the funkiest bass lines Mark has ever played, it's so damn good
Mark and Tom both have a knack for creating catchy riffs. I think it gets lost in all the slick production and potty humor that they’ve always been serious songwriters.
Mark Hoppus for the win
They really just have the most unique sound ❤
I’ve really missed that Steamed Hams shirt
Good on you having Marlboro man on here! A true Blink fan
love these bass lines great video!
Love the shirt! “So you call them steamed hams even though they’re obviously grilled?”
Mark Hoppus is a GENIUS
Their riffs are as much exciting that I'm really carrying away!
Amazing playing as always!

My favorites are The Anthem, Man Overboard, and Mutt- all written for Enema of the State
Man over board was written for The Mark, Tom, and Travis show (The enema strikes back)
Tfw I was waiting for Carousel and the best part was blocked.
Knowing carousel was number one and building up to it just to be met by silence because of copyright really pissed me off. RUclips being RUclips I guess
He was in the greatest 3 man band of all time
Such a great playing bro!
that fuckin here's your letter line... i mean, it's simple, but the way he wrote it by intentionally not playing some of the notes was absoiutely magnificient
Wow carousel was blocked
Amazing as always!
Your videos are so good
good job 🤘
Do you use any effect in here's your letters? Or is that just the precision bass pure sound using a pick? It sounds amazing!
Ben Wah Balls is just perfect
Mark’s a legend
Thanks for the blink 182 playlist I was missing also the good bass cover ❤
Any chance you'll do a Roger Lima 20 greatest basslines?
Fentoozler is so rad..and Mutt is just gold
He is a lot better bassplayer than what most people think, not the best in the business but clearly underrated.

I love this video. But it would've been great if it was bass boosted
Carousel was where I heard the huge Ned's Atomic Dustbin influence.
Love it. Awesome plus one ❤️😊😎😎
What about Wishing Well!?
We need a sugarpill + Alex Melton colab!
Great tone been trying to get it myself but my p bass has a maple fret board so harder to get right any tips on how to get like the toypaj/self titled tone ?
What type of pick do you use??? I dig the sound that it makes and it looks like it strums well!
Mark is a very limited bass player that works perfectly for Blink. And I love the guy
wow even added some +44.... good man
Mark Hoppus 🖤
One of my fav bassplayer ever! 👍🏻🎵🎸🤘🏻
Mark Hoppus is Fucking Good
Marlboro man ❤️😶😯
i did see that coming, although I was a bit worried, where was it, while progressing through the list... ;)
Queria ser seu amigo e ficar o dia todo ouvindo esses riffs
can i have a list of songs with time stamps ??
What is that instrumental track in the intro? Great video, Mark Hoppus is HELLA under rated.
Wow! You steam a good ham man
Cacophony must in this
Rino Mahmoed Agreed. Cacophony is a glaring omission.
That's why I'm going to buy bass
Mark's basses look like short scale on stage. Do you know anything about it?
Now do one with Cone McCaslin
Hey do you collaborations? You are AWESOME
Greatest Bass Lines of Roger Lima, please!
Hell yes! Or Dan from Alkaline Trio! He writes Some tasty baselines!!
Agreed on both! Dan and Roger are two of my all time favorites. Favorite song writers too.
Qual a música de 0 a 20 segundos? Ficou boa

There's a few songs I play differently. And I'm not sure if mine are correct or if these are correct. lol
*2 minutes in*
WHERES CAROUSEL
8:32 NOOOOOOOOO
8:57 THAT WAS MEAN BUT IM ON BOARD
what program do you use for drums?
ik this is late but you should do a video on jaime preciados best bass line
Is 15 asthenia?
is Always played in bass chords?
Yep.
Why is mark pointing at the ava logo
My guy, what are you using for this bass sound?
I use an Axe FX II for my bass tone.
Let's start a band
A lot of these Buddha/Cheshire Cat songs have cool basslines
Dude do you record your own drums???
Cant hear the base...
Does your wrist ever kill from wearing your strap so low?
Yeah ask that same question to Rob Trujillo, Tom Araya and Lemmy. LOL
Strap isnt even that low tbh, I've seen way lower like Rob Trujillo
@@paradigmshiftz7 tru i just ask cause mine starts to kill sometimes
god the only thing i didnt like was the heres your letter guitar palm mute it was off. love you
No i wont be home for Christmas ?
On that last minute, you can put "all the small thing's ". 😢
Emo is so underrated
We all knew what nr 1 one was going to be
Why is there an AVA logo in the thumbnail? 😆
What was #15 supposed to be? I feel like I should know but idk 🥴
It’s Asthenia from self-titled!
Or untitled, if you prefer!
Asthenia
Self-Un-Entitled.
Fentoozler so underrated
Mr Skinner rules!
For Fat Mike mode set to x1.5 speed
Fail to get why the bass line to Always is in there. Basic.
What was 15
Asthenia
Fat mike part 2 please
disgusting lack of Josie intro
where are 21 days, Cacophony, TV, Josie, Degenerate, My Pet Sally, A new Hope... ?
Ah, I see you can list blink 182 song names, congratulations.
@@SugarpillProd Mmmm don´t be ironic, I just said that because it would be great if you could do another video with those songs too... aweonao
@@Dol-vj7ri well this video is over a year old, If I was gonna make a follow up I'd have done it by now.
Backsound too loud , bass sound not clear
Gotta take the copyright claim as a compliment. Must’ve sounded exactly like it for it to pick it up
