    Hey man, I think you left a D tend ball bearing out, which is used to keep the fingers in place. The torque just slides it out.

    I had the exact same issue, but on the stock 2.4 Accord gearbox. 6th gear was popping out on its own seconds after I engaged it. Turned out that the previous owner had put a non oem transmission fluid which messed up the synchro on 5-6th gear.
    I consulted with a shop which handles gearbox repairs and they advised me to get a second hand gearbox and swap it. I still regret missing the opportunity to swap it with something with shorter gears, but I didn't know at the time. Good luck with fixing yours!

    Love what you're doing with this Accord. I have the ICTDI here in the UK, which has great torque but tuning is limited and expensive. Hoping to get a job closer to home so I can stop thinking about MPG and grab a K24. Manual 2.4's are getting increasingly rare, especially a Type S. Can see these cars creeping up in value in years to come

    I own a CL9 Executive ( not the type s ) so it has a sunroof and electric seats.
    A week after i bought it i installed the serge bo reflash, and a month after his 421 header, cancelled the intake resonator and it's good to go.
    Almost any gearset swap has issues with the 6th gear because the bearings don't match, and usually the gearsets or gearboxes you find are outrageously expensive in comparison with any other similar cars, like a clio 2 or 3 RS, and usually have very worn synchros, especially for 1 and 2, because they come out of beater cars that were driven like they were stolen.
    In romania there are a couple of builds that got the ep3 gearset, dc5 final drive, lsd's but, all of them had issues and only after they bought another 2 or 3 sets it was ok.
    The issue is that a 5.1 fd ratio makes it unusable on the freeway, and all of them have issues on wet or dusty asphalt, they just can't put that power down efficiently.
    Mine was always faster on a wet day because the torque at the wheels is more linear.
    I did some timings with a cl9 with reflash, 41 header, euroR lsd gearbox, fn2 typer flywheel, and lots of other goodies and for 100 200 they have about the same 20s time because the short ratio does this run in 4 5 6, and the stock cl9 in 3 4 5
    The thing is the close ratio is very fun to drive, it doesn't have that gap between 1 and 2, and having close gears makes the shifts faster.
    Also a fn2 light flywheel helps for revving faster.
    But all in all this car feels best when doing rolling pulls, not from a standstill.
    And given the fact that it costs about 2500usd to swap gears and the benefit is minimal, i would rather pay for a memorable Holiday :))
    By the way, does your car have that annoying vibration at idle when you engage the climate AC compressor

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  3 года назад +1

      Hey man cheers for the advice - the synchros are all fine on this set, I just think there was an issue in the install. And no I don't have a vibration at idle

    what a difference in 1st to 2nd, definitely recommend a lightweight flywheel as it makes down shifting and rev matching feel so much better although I don't know if you guys got the same dual mass heavy ass flywheel the TSX got

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  3 года назад +3

      Yeah I know a lot of people have been recommending that, but personally I'm happy with the stock flywheel and clutch and much clutch is in good shape. Once it wears out then I'll switch it out for a k20 flywheel and clutch

    • @Pottunuija
      @Pottunuija 2 года назад +2

      @@KiwiCarLifeAlso If you haven't replaced/upgraded your clutch master cylinder, you should go for it. Also the stock one has clutch delay valve and you can replace it with one from civic without the valve, gives much more direct feel to pedal and the way you can adjust the clutch with your foot is completely different. It is also preventive maintenance since it is a common failure point.

    Sorry to hear about your 6th gear. Since it looks like you’ll be needing to crack open the transmission again, definitely recommend getting a LSD. Drove my brother’s Civic Si and there is a substantial difference in traction even with crappy tires. Also may want to consider putting in a lightweight flywheel as well. There’s a RSX 11.5 lb flywheel from Competition that’s a great balance for enthusiast and daily driving. Mate all of that with a Stage 1 Exedy clutch and you’ll have an even bigger beast.

    Good day!
    Is it pops out when you take off a leg from a pedal, right? Only 6 gear and no other?
    I have a few thoughts about that issue with 6gear. For sure you need to dismantle it again:
    - you have a synchronisers there. Make 100% sure that they were installed correctly exactly for 6 gear
    - check cd5 and your service manuals for the topic where gearbox is disassembled and there can be (but I am not sure exactly for that gearboxes) adjusting washers for gear shaft. You should use it to correct a free lift for it. They are located between shaft and gearbox body
    - also check how rods and cables for manual gearbox were installed. They are also can be tuned to work correctly. That should be also in service manual or forums
    - incorrect MTF or its level
    Me personally bet for synchronisers and adjusting washers. Please compare two manuals for gearboxes for dc5 and accord euro and make sure that you did not forget about adjusting washers. They can be of a different thickness to tune it correctly.

    There are several things that could lead to your 6th gear issue.
    1. Worn synchros
    2. Internal Misalignment during reinstallation
    3. Low on MTF
    4. Broken engine mount, engine flex caused the gear to pop out
    5. 6th gear sleeve is damaged
    6. Selector fork not installed correctly.
    7. Worn 6th gear dog teeth
    One of them got to be the answer.

  • @alperena4698
    @alperena4698 2 года назад +1

    I noticed in the run with the type r gearset you had empty tank of fuel and run with stock gearset your tank was full. These cars have a 65l tank capacity so the weight difference was probably about 50-60kg. Don't you think that would have also affected the 0-100 time? I know you might say its only 50kg ish but honestly even small amounts of weights make noticeable differences. I'm not saying the type r gearset is useless, of course it would still make quite a difference in performance and driver enjoyment. I just wonder is it worth how much it cost you?

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  2 года назад +1

      Fuel weighs 0.737kg per litre, so at most it would have been a 40kg difference. That's like 2.5% difference in weight. Thus affecting the time by 0.16 seconds. Sure it might have made a difference, but not much.
      It cost me $2500nzd to buy and install it

    How did you get the gears? I would love to do this to my acura tsx

    • @KiwiCarLife
      @KiwiCarLife  2 года назад +1

      No need to man. The TSX has basically the same ratios mine has now. The Accord Euro with the K24A3 has longer ratios from factory vs K24A2.
      Look at how the revs drop in this video and the speed achieved in 2nd gear (accord):
      ruclips.net/video/eax5NBwNg7E/видео.html
      vs tsx:
      ruclips.net/video/FAq_ESY3WX8/видео.html
      You can see the TSX drop from 7200 to 5100rpm and achieves 90km/h in 2nd, whereas the accord goes from 7000 to 4500rpm and achieves 105km/h in 2nd.

      @@tiles3458 yeah different final drive, I believe tsx is 4.3 and euro r is 4.7, and the euro r obviously has different redline too

      @@KiwiCarLife I've heard of people swapping civic si gearing along with the LSD to the tsx in the united states. I didn't know how worth it that'd be.
